Um, why are trombones under Strings? :3 They're brass instruments right? :F

Okays, well we have two choices I think for the first track we work on. Objection or Turnabout Sisters ^_^ We have to decide the style for each, although I had the idea that it would be good as a Queen Style Ballard. (Ie, 'You're my best friend' or 'Somebody to love'. We could also have some choral bits in it too (I mean, 'Somebody to love' does it well). If we wanted to do Objection! We'd have to come up with the style quickly.

I'd really love to arrange one of them as either swing or a latin-style piece.

Sorry for the mixup - put trombones in the brass section where they belong (serves me right for writing that in a hurry ><;)

And wow, Gyakuten Sisters would so own as a Latin piece - you could cha-cha to that! :D Erm, this is just personally speaking but I preferred Queen's rock pieces to their ballads, hence I'm casting a vote for a latin style. Though the Gyakuten Sisters Ballade would work really nicely for a choir - maybe we could do that for the second album or something.

I haven't completely finished my transcription of Gyakuten Sisters but only because I'm trying to incorporate the second game variation on it into the same piece. If you just want to do the game one version then it's essentially complete.

A latin version would be pretty much the same as the carnival tho. Unless I mixed it up. Plus, I'm not repeating T-Sisters on both albums so there's more space for GS2 specific tracks.

But I'm sure we can come to a compromise :3

Well, I don't really mind - just that the normal Gyakuten Sisters theme has already been remixed once in Cadenza so the Ballade might be a more suitable target :) Entirely up to you though.

wow we got a lot of people! I managed to get access to recording material, so I should be ok. i may only be able to record on certain days, but it'll be all summer long, so it won't be a problem. As for style wise, I like the carnival style idea.

I've figured out how to play Turnabout Sister's Ballade on the piano, but I 'm mostly a trombone player. I've been working on playing the GS3 - End song on the piano for a while, but I kinda suck at it. I've got the notes for Turnabout Sisters' Ballade though. It would make a great choral piece.

*pokes head in once more*

Vocal range, vocal range... yup, I'm gonna post it riiiiiiight... now!

Okay, to put it simply: my comfortable range goes from the E below middle C... to the G above it. If I push it I can go from the D below middle C to a whole octave above middle C...

Yeah, that's not exactly completely clear. If I can I'll see if I can illustrate it this afternoon.
Thank you for flying Phoenix Wright. We hope you have a nice day.

That's okay, Kwoiffei, I've figured out your range - so if I've gotten this right, your normal range is low E to G above middle C, and your head voice is low D to top C? And how are you with holding notes above or below your range?

Phonics - I've already got a midi of the Ballade so we're fine for the notation, but it's up to Gerkuman whether we rearrange the ballade or the original Turnabout Sisters theme :)

I don't know the difference between the two :D If they're different enough we COULD do it for the second album. But I'm the wrong guy to ask on these matters :F

I need a more concise list on our ideas for T-Sisters so I can make a executive descicion. Our ideas are all over the place.

The Ballade is pretty different from the original theme (entirely my opinion of course XD) - I'm about to email you a zipped up file of all the midis I have so you can see what's different and what's not ^_^

And does this help?

Turnabout Sisters Theme Options:
Choral (Ballade version)
Latin/Swing (Kaiserin offered to arrange for this)
Queen-style

That's all the styles that have been suggested

Okays....

Kaiserin, can you bring your latin ideas to the Carnival Investigation Suite please :3 I think that it would work great as that. I think the ballade should be incorperated into the main T-Sisters theme, SO we will have that bit choral, like a bridge :3 Then, for the Main bit of the theme, we have a Queen -Style Ballard.

Is that good? I want to incorperate as many ideas as possible,

That's what I was wondering - I just posted the advert using my LJ account, then when I read what you put above I was like "Oh no, was I meant to create a separate LJ account just for the project?" XD Crossed wires! I haven't linked to the Gyakuten Mecha LJ in that post because a chapter of it has just recently gone up on the comm.

Okiedokes, that's fine. I'll sort that out later this arvo! I've almost finished the rock version of the Steel Samurai theme, still a few more tweaks to make to it and I'll probably leave it for a whole day before listening to it again to see if there's any other changes that need making. Then I'll post it up for comments. Though I haven't heard back from any of the guitarists about the ranges of their instruments (I know nothing about guitar 8D) so it might need adapting before it's suitable to actually play.

Alright, posting to say a few (more) things.

Vocal range:
Well, I just tested out my range... it turns out that if I do the whole scale in my head-voice, I can JUST go a whole octave below middle C. But only just, and that's with quite a bit of preparation. So, for holding any notes lower than low D... well, if you want to murder my vocal chords, then you're welcome to try. XP

Trying to pin my range's upper limit is a lot trickier, as you can guess. I can do a decent falsetto, but I find it really hard holding notes higher than top C. It might be due to lack of practice, but also I don't feel comfortable singing that high. (And no-one wants to hear me sing soprano. EVER. Kwoiffei singing soprano = BLEEDING EARS.)

Ack! I forgot about the guitar thing! I'll see if I can't pull together a decent explanation sometime soon. It'll take quite a bit of trial and error to learn my instrument's limits, but I should be able to manage. ("Is it this note... no, that's a sharp! No wait, it's a flat! It's... rargh! Fine It's a semitone off!")
Thank you for flying Phoenix Wright. We hope you have a nice day.

Someone honestly just needs to e-mail me about all this, its so much easier for me since I don't really check these forums for anything other than this.

Also, for a carnival-style thing, I was thinking something more organ-based - think more like something you'd actually hear coming from a carrosuel.

Gyakuten sisters would work really well as swing, I was thinking a fast samba for Objection...

D: someone get in touch with me off the forums, honestly. Makes my life so much easier XD;

Edit: When are we going to figure out who's arranging what? Because I'd really like to arrange Objection in that fast samba I mentioned, but I'd have to know that I'm doing that so I can head back to school and use the software in the Theory/Tech lab and crank it out. Otherwise, it'll take a lot longer because I'd...have to write out everything by hand. D:

I'm sorry, Kaiserin - I know you're one of the people who's come over here from Livejournal. I've now created a special LJ comm just for the project; would that be an easier way for you to stay in touch? I can email as well, of course. Another good reason for the LJ comm is that I had a percussionist sign up for this via LJ who doesn't seem to have come here yet. Hopefully we can grab them.

And yes, I think we should set some people to arranging some stuff... the last time I took part in a project like this it never got off the ground because people took too long talking about what to do. So forgive me for being bossy, but I'm going to suggest the following:

We haven't decided a style for Objection, so how about we let Kaiserin get on with arranging that in a samba style? I'll confess that I'm not very knowledgeable about the more contemporary music styles, being classically trained, so I'd be interested in hearing what that sounds like. So how about that for one definite arrangement to get started on?

Next, I'm raising an objection about this:

Quote:
I think the ballade should be incorperated into the main T-Sisters theme, SO we will have that bit choral, like a bridge :3 Then, for the Main bit of the theme, we have a Queen -Style Ballard.

I'm no music guru, but combining multiple styles in a single piece usually turns it into a cacophony. Keep it simple and it'll sound good, I think. The main theme is long enough as it is without tagging the Ballade onto it as well. After all, there'll be another two albums to go after this one if it takes off, so there's no rush about using up all our ideas. In addition, the mood of the Ballade is completely different to that of the main Turnabout Sisters theme, but you wouldn't know because you haven't heard it 'cause I haven't sent it to you ><; I'm really sorry, I've been trying to upload my zip file of midis to YouSendIt to give to you but my internet is hideously slow. Next time I catch you on MSN I'll throw it your way. But the best way of describing it is: the main theme is "Hi! :D" and the Ballade is "Goodbye :("

Ballade and main theme should definitely be kept separate - do one, or do the other. How about we stick with your original intention, main theme as Queen-style ballad, and I just chuck you the midi? Then you can get started - I'm sure whatever style it's in it'll sound pretty good :)

So... to summarise:

Kaiserin - Objection Samba
Gerkuman - Turnabout Sisters (Queen style)

Once I've got the nod from you guys I'll duplicate this information on the LJ community and advertise it on the gyakusai comm to get all the original applicants to join it. Fingers crossed I'll have a finished Steel Samurai arrangement to post too... ^_^

And one last thing... because we've recruited people from Livejournal, we can't really legitimately call it the Court Records Community Music Project anymore. Should we maybe go for a more global title, like "The Phoenix Wright Music Project" or something?

EDIT:

And I bring you the first arrangement of the album - Steel Samurai Theme - Rock Arrangement | Download

I could've done a lot more with the drum line but as we've currently no drummer enlisted I moved most of the rhythm to the piano. The drumline can be cut out altogether if need be, but ideally I'd like to keep it in and embellish it some more. And as I said before, I know nothing about guitars so the range may not be suitable. Comments welcome, as are suggestions for extra embellishments. I haven't done that much with the harmonics during the piano arpeggios because they kinda stand on their own and I thought adding too many extra notes there would ruin the feel.

Instruments required: Electric Guitar (x2), Bass Guitar (x1), Piano (x1), Synth and Drums.

We can call it the Ace Attorney Music project. :3 Also, I will follow your advice and put the ballade in the GS2 album, if we get to it ^_^ I'll be home from college very early today, so I'll be able to listen to the arrangement and comment :3

And... Ok, we'll do the samba. Except that It seems that Magical Trick society did the same thing for their objection piece. But We've got real samba instruments ^_^

I will now do my part by trying to arrange the finale, since I love the track so much :3 As well as the Queen one of course.

Finally, thank you ALL for agreeing to contribute to this project, and for your ideas. We're getting closer and closer to our goal ^_^ Also, what did you think of my name for us?

Yep, thats what I thought. Besides, we've got real trumpets and stuff ^_^ We've just got to make the carnival one sound different. Perhaps get a steel drum ^_^ (I love those things).

Also, I think that we should definatly do Jake's theme :3 In the style of Western opening themes of course (Lots of trumpets and strings!) Like the 'Magnificent Sevens' Theme.

Hey, this project looks really interesting. I don't know if you still need musicians, but if you do, I could play a backup violin or viola. I also have an accordion which I sort of dabble with...I don't really know it that well, but I'm sure I could work out some simple patterns if you needed them. Like if you made a polka song XD
