Does anyone know why the creators of AA chose to do this? As someone who actually spent several years in college & law school, I find it a bit amusing that the attorneys in AA are teenagers or in their very early 20's (i.e. Gavin started practicing Law at 17, Apollo at 22, and F. Von Karma was what..like 13 when she started?)

Phoenix became an attorney at 24, which is normal for AA. Edgy at 20, because he was a prodigy. Franzy at 13, because she was a prodigy and Von Karma's daugheter. Even if 20 is young and 13 is WAY YOUNG, it's still acceptable because they were trained by Von Karma, who is Von Karma. Mia became an attorney at 23, which is only one year younger than Phoenix; it's not much of a difference (there are a ton of easy explanations--it could be the way the birthdays worked out, or maybe she skipped a grade when she was young, or perhaps she graduated college or high school in 3 years). The real reason is that she was 27 in 1-1, and so she had to be 23 in 3-4. We don't know when Diego or Winston became an attorney, but it probably wasn't too young.

Apollo became an attorney at 22, because we don't know why. He just did.
Spoiler: AJ
The real reason he might be 22 might be to align it correctly with the Gramarye timeline of Thalassa having a baby, her husband dying, getting remarried, having another baby, and then having all that stupid "gramarye darkness" junk happen.

Klavier became an attorney at 17 because he's just an overall bad character, this being one of the reasons. (Srsly. It makes no sense! Edgy is a gazillion times better than Klavier, so how did Klavier become a prosecutor 3 years earlier?!)

And we don't know when Kristoph became an attorney.

So mostly it's for prosecutors, and it's to make them seem really strong and tough. Of course it was ruined with Klavier, since Edgy and Franzy have legitimate reasons for becoming prosecutors so young, but of course Klavier doesn't, and he's not a good prosecutor anyway, and when you make every single prosecutor become a prosecutor so young it kind of makes the effect not work any more -_-' [/klavierrant]

I do agree that it seems that the majority seem to graduate almost impossibly quickly... but I have a friend who's studying a 4-year law course now (well, with her extra language electives it's five, but for arguments sake...)
She finished final year of high school at 16.5 years old, and went straight into uni, so when her course is up, she'll be around 20. Say she takes a two-year apprenticeship, she's into practice at Polly's age.

... and, well. The insanely early-starting lawyers all studied in Germany :nick:
... except... in the jap version, they studied in America.... aagh, my logic! it dies! :foam:

Yeah, ok, let's just go with what Gozu said. It's because Japan is a place of magic and wonder~

I think it's hinted in 4-1 that Winston became an attorney 7 years before 3-1. I can't remember though.

Not really. In the Japanese version, they studied in a 'forward thinking country', and chose America to represent that. Now, in the west, the game takes place in America, so they had to pin some place else as a 'forward thinking country'. Seeing as von Karma seems 'German-y', they picked Germany.

Then, when AJ was made, they had to have Klavier make sense. So they made him german too.

it also helps that the japanese concept of a "foreigner" (generally meaning american) is tall, with blond hair and blue eyes

made it easy to adapt the 'american' characters to be german

I think a 13-year prosecutor is ridiculous, whether they're in Germany or America or Japan or Borginia.
Seriously, it's terrible and the storywriters should sue themselves for being THAT unrealistic. =(

Except for the fact that Manfred von Karma was her father. We all know how crazy he is, and he probably pushed Franzy really hard.

I don't believe that anyone'd want to have children with vonKarma, either. Especially when he was, what, 47?

I think a better question is "Why are the prosecutors in Ace Attorney always so German"?

Courtney Cox is 44 and I'd still bang her. People don't always age as bad as others, after all. Example being, Melissa Joan Hart hasn't aged well at all, and she's only 32.

You may have a gold-colored star.

And they're German because "von Karma" is a German name (the 'von' part--dunno where the Indian 'karma' came from tho) so Manny and Franny had to be German. Iunno for Klavier. In the japanese version, Franny studied in America, and in the American version, she studied in Germany; I believe Klavier studied in America in the japanese version, too, so they decided just to use the precedent.

Attorneys are very young, true. But what impresses me more is, why all prosecutors have never been defeted in a trial until they *battle* againts Phoeinx/Apollo? Years of a perfect record thrown away by a spiked haired defense attorney, go figure.

Apparently, Phoenix has an unreknowned logical thinking mechanism that allows him to reason out exact details by guessing and begging for information, not to count his luck in dangerous sitations.

But then again, when you really think about it, it's probably that the countries legal system really despises Not Guilty trials. Any place where trials can only last three days is a little unstable when it comes to law, I must think.

Jury System was added in Apollo becase whatever horrible government leader's they had ended their 4 years long ago, and someone good got in office.

The reason for Phoenix is as BM said, pretty much xD

For Apollo.... Well, Payne didn't have a perfect record, and I don't think Klavier did. And Apollo won because (A) it was Payne, and (B) it was Klavier. (One of my fav quotes about Klavier explains this quite nicely: "With prosecutors with Klavier, who needs defense attorneys?")

...Ridiculously young attorneys fit right in a world of super-puberty and insane witnesses. I'm surprised ANYONE can possibly consider 13-year old prosecutors to be anything but crazy, but in Ace Attorney crazy stuff makes a loop and starts making sense again.
