I would put this in the Hazakurain section, but being told I'm a noob here (long-time lurker, first-time account creator), apparently I don't get that option for another 49 posts. Anywho!

I was browsing through my folder of many, many Phoenix Wright MP3s, and I discovered a "Bonus Disc" subfolder in the Phoenix Wright 3 MP3 folder.

This folder has some sound effects, along with the music apparently used in the trailer for PW3 and a "Special Blend Mix." However, what I really found interesting were two DS (or GBA)-quality MP3s mixed in with the bunch that appear to be unused versions of the Turnabout Sisters theme and Psyche-Lock theme, created just for PW3. I always found it odd that those two tunes stayed the same between games, being so recurring, while most recurring themes shifted, with little exception. For example, Cornered, Objection, and Investigation: In the Midst, etc, etc, change from game to game.

I wouldn't make a post on this, but after scouring both YouTube for videos of them to link and the pages themselves here, I never saw any reference to them. So after a good bit of work, I managed to upload them to an MP3 upload site I'd never previously heard of. I thought the fine folks here might want to take a listen.

Here's the Turnabout Sisters 2004:

And here's the Psyche-Lock 2004:

If anyone knows a free service that streams I can edit the links to it later on, but I found nothing so far.

Anyway, are these as new as I believe them to be, or am I totally mistaken and somehow missed it being posted or mentioned a thousand times?

I sincerely doubt this music was created for the game per se. Listen closely to the actual quality of the sounds used - do you think the GBA (what T&T was initially released for) was capable of making sounds like that? More likely these were arrangements made for the bonus disc. Just remixed versions of classic themes.

You do have an interesting point about the game themes - very few of them are shared between JFA and T&T. However, there are some others, including With Pearly and Investigation Core 2002.

I actually don't hear any reason why it couldn't have been GBA... I never was good at discerning sound quality except in excessively bad or good circumstances, however. Can you explain what you mean?

To me the beeps and background stuff all sound in line with much of the rest of PW3's game tracks...

I know those two arrangements and can tell you with all honesty that they were most likely not composed for in-game use. The GBA is, in fact, not capable of playing this kind of audio, since it works with midi and those arrangments are obviously not Midi-files. Many of the effects in there would be impossible in Midi.

...Because I felt the need to advertise my fanfic with a self-drawn, animated banner. Yes, I'm obsessed, why do you ask?
