If you haven't visited Nico Douga in a long time (or ever for that matter), you may not know about a certain video series dedicated to the original Gyakuten Saiban on the GBA. A group of fans gathered one day and decided that they'd work voice-overs for the entire game, end to end, and the finished products were major hits with the Nico Douga community. They got through to almost the end of Rise from the Ashes when, unfortunately, the videos were taken down by Capcom. (I have no idea why. The videos themselves are just plain and simple gameplay, but with voices added. Any other let's-player doing something similar have been left alone just fine, even some of the more popular ones.)
But there is time for rejoicing! Fortunately, I found videos of their work having been uploaded to scattered sites, where they don't receive much attention, and re-uploaded them to Youtube. (Sadly, I couldn't find the Rise from the Ashes collection, but I have up to the end of Turnabout Goodbyes, so it should be fine.) However, instead of being a cheapskate and leaving them at that, I've decided to add English subs to my re-uploads, so it would be available for fans from other countries as well. And besides, this is good practice for my Japanese, of which I have never taken a single language course on. My translation skills have come a long way through sheer determination and self-applied effort, and I'll show my fellow fans that I won't back down from a challenge like this!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwkNJYDW0cgAs of today, 5/2/13, I only have the first two episodes completely subbed. Work on the coming episodes is slow at best, given my real-life work-loaded class schedule. However, I'm dedicated to this project, and by posting about it here, I hope to spread the word.
And on a final note: I've been having difficulty deciding on whether to let my translations stay true to the Japanese version of the game, or to include the English names, as to prevent needless confusion. It's through this process that I realize a part of how tough it is to localize a game like this. Japanese puns easily get lost in translation, and you have to fill in the spaces sometimes when a statement is originally longer than it comes out to be. Well, whatever works, and enjoy!
5/3/13 Edit: Okay, Turnabout Sisters Part 1 is subbed. I've also added some annotations for subbing the options, among other things, to this and the previous two videos. It's more fun than I thought.
5/6/13 Edit: Now TS Part 2's subs are up and annotations are done. Things are moving along smoothly. I've decided to revert back to using their Japanese names for the sake of making it easier to translate puns and jokes. And besides, now you can learn their Japanese names as you go along.
5/14/13 Edit: TS Part 3 is subbed and annotated. I'll upload Turnabout Goodbyes for those who want to skip ahead.
