Oh well, to stay true to my word, I did write something. I have to admit, I'm a bit confused about what I should write about on this coupling. CFTF and Raelle already did such brilliant jobs on their respective stories that I feel like I'm taking the leap all to late and is heading face-down straight for the mud rather than the bandwagon. O.o

My venting did end up in some drabbles thou, so enjoy ^_^.

WARNING! This set of drabbles features a female x female relationship, if this offends your religious, political or personal views I must ask you to refrain of reading further and thus sparing us both from a long and -from my experience- very unpleasant discussion about the whats and whys. I can be a very rude person when poked in the wrong way. You have been warned.

Anyhoo

~~~~~~~
Why did it have to be so difficult, Adrian thought as she watched the aqua haired prodigy on the other side of the solid wall of glass. The grey walls of the detention centre felt more pressing than ever as she sat there, taking in the details about the other girl. Franziska had returned shortly to LA by the request of Miles Edgeworth, something about a trial that had needed her expertise. They had kept in contact through a few phone calls, slowly building up confidence –at least on her part- and courage to bridge whatever that had sparked a few weeks ago during the Engarde trial.
And now, when the other girl was finally sitting in front of her, within her actual reach, Adrian found herself lost for words and wits to put together a single coherent sentence. That didn't distract her from staring though.
All her years with Celeste and the horrible need for vengeance that had followed had blinded her for a long time. For the first time in many years, Adrian looked and found. She found Franziska beautiful.
---***---
Why did it have to be so difficult, Franziska thought as she suddenly found the floor to be a fascinating thing to study. Adrian was right in front of her, dressed in one of those hideous prison suits that seemed to follow an international code of being orange and absolutely revolting to look at.
"You look… well," She tried, in an almost steady, less than perfect voice. Five years of court-fostered verbal sharpness fell short in the face of this timid woman behind the bars. Apparently, the small gaps of comfortable silences that could dominate their calls weren't working here.
"Th-thank you," The blonde looked at her, directly at her. "Franziska"
Her mouth dried up when she heard the other mouth her name, how Adrian rolled every syllable in a soft, foreign way that plunged something warm and slightly painful into her abdomen. Of course Adrian could look her in the face, her incompetence imperfection hadn't caused anyone to offend testimony law.
Fool, foolish foolery of a perfect fool.
Clinging to the small boxes of Belgian chocolate in her lap, Franziska took the plunge.
---***---
"Why do you use a whip anyway?" Franziska froze, blinked and glanced across the table at the blonde. "It's not like it has any real relevance to your work as a prosecutor" Adrian chuckled, stirring her cup of café au lait with a rather distant look on her face. The question caught her by surprise nonetheless.
"When I took on my first case," She shrugged, not diverting her attention from the mound of paperwork at hand. "I was a little more than thirteen."
"…and you won" Adrian shook her head. "incredible"
"However," The German girl continued, although her mouth perked a little at the compliment, a minuscule change of expression that did not go the blonde by. "it was not a perfect win, I had some… struggles." She remembered, her father had been furious, a failure of a victory he had called it.
"My case was perfect, and I executed it perfectly as was expected of me…"
"But?" Her cheeks grew faintly pink at what was coming next. She had Adrian's curiosity now.
"…I didn't hit my growth spurt until I was fifteen. I could barely reach up to the prosecutor's stand then, any less claim full attention to my arguments" She ruffled her papers in a tense moment while Adrian's mouth formed a small o, the blonde's mind no doubt going poof at the mental visuals provided.
"Miles got me the whip the next day"
---***---
Adrian was by no means foreign to music. Like all girls, she had gone through school pining, dreaming and giggling over popstars and singers alike. Pretty boys and pretty girls, dressed to their teeth in the latest fashions had taken up their share of her freetime. Later, when she had outgrown and tired of the youth's mainstream branch of music, she had effectively switched over to whatever her friends, acquaintances and the popular clubs blasted on their speakers. She didn't like to call it shallow, but she certainly couldn't claim that there was anything extraordinary or deep with her relation to whatever she usually jammed on her stereo. Music just wasn't her thing to relate to.
Not until one afternoon when she was met with the soft tunes of a violin upon returning home. Franziska was in the living room, facing Adrian with closed eyes. She was wearing a white, sleeveless dress. Her fingers danced across the instrument's slender neck while she let her bow flowed over the strings.
Adrian did not recognize the song but the passion which Franziska put into her playing said a lot.
---***---
"That's it"
With a soft brush along her neck that sent a tremor down Franziska's spine, Adrian poked her tongue gently against the younger girl's and withdrew from the kiss that left them both breathless.
Franziska gasped after air, flushed, embarrassed and confused over the sudden brush-off. Adrian caught the look on her face and chuckled out loud, amazed at how the German prodigy could just as everyone else look like a very sexually frustrated teenager.
"Sorry, it's the dinner. You have spinach between your teeth Franziska"
---***---
Franziska would ask what Adrian found so fascinating about those novels she read, since the blonde woman seemed to stock and devour them in hundreds. How can anyone be willing to waste so much time reading such gibberish, the prodigy asked.
Adrian would sigh, and point behind them to the enormous bookshelf that was weighed down by every book on law Franziska had ever owned. Shooting the protesting girl another smug look, she returned to the novel she had at hand.
---***---
Adrian's form behind the shower curtains were foggy, obscured by the dimmed glass and the clouds of steam that erupted from the impossible heat the American tended to take her baths in.
Franziska couldn't help noticing though. The hills and valleys of her partner's body, every bend and shape of Adrian she already knew and all those she didn't. The touch of silk, the taste of salt and breathless gasps in the dark. Warmth and flawed perfection, all that and with only a flimsy curtain to separate her.
And she would realize that while she had the courage to move the law itself, those feeble folds of near-transparent plastic were beyond her strength to breach.
---***---
One of those days, Adrian thought, she would leave those damned shower curtains open by mistake. Maybe that would finally be motivation enough for the prodigy to act on what her body already knew.
---***---
Neither of them had slept well for years. Each weighed down by their respective burdens.
Neither perfection nor revenge knows sleep.
Franziska stirred at a sound. She blinked but settled again when she realized that it was still dark outside. Court had been ten hours of organized chaos today. Miles had for some reason rushed on a business trip and left his office with all related cases to her with minimal notice, which meant that she had effectively been put in charge of Scruffy and his daily misdeeds.
A familiar lump of warmth snuggled up to her from behind. She turned around to face Adrian who already seemed to be fast asleep, exhausted from work.
Afraid of waking her partner, the girl watched the blonde for several shy moments before sneaking a very uncharacteristic peck on the other's cheek. Then, she nestled closer and contently, went back to sleep.
Hmm... More to come I guess, I want to get a decent lenght before posting anything on ff.net, maybe give it a beta-run too. Time will tell :p
I enjoyed :) You have the characters captured well, and I'd really love to see more of this wonderful couple from you!
I will do a proper review sometime tomorrow, as I'm entirely too drunk to do one right now. But suffice to say I liked it!
Nice job, I enjoyed reading it. You have some very genuinely lovely ideas and moments captured here, and I think your understanding of Franziska and Adrian's voices are quite good. There's also some interesting wordplay going on here; I enjoyed the paralleling between Fran and Adrian's narratives at the beginning. You're also very good at capturing atmosphere and feeling.
There are some technical writing issues; mostly things like grammar and a couple of patches of awkward word choice; getting a beta would probably be a good idea. But everything else is there. Nice job, keep writing. <3
I love how short and sweet the segments were in general. Some of the lines of dialogue between Adrian and Franziska I thought were well written. The third, fifth and sixth segments were especially fun to read XD.
Don't worry, I wasn't exactly sober when I wrote that either. Drinks bring out the prose in all of us, apparently even when you read O.o
Lol, Raelle, whatever understanding I have of this coupling comes mostly from your and Funk's writing, no creds to me on that aspect ^_^. Most of my inspiration to drabble this sprung from the feeling of satisfaction after finishing you guys' longer fics. Those were merely a way to ventilate all the warm, gushy things swimming around in my stomach.
I still have a bunch of ideas and what-ifs floating around, maybe I'll have them down next week :p
Oh? *surprised look* And here I expected people to fall all over the showerscenes, rather than those you mentioned. Oh well, lol.
Averall, I'm glad you guys enjoyed them! ^_^ Lemme see if I have more gushy feelings to vent...
LOL making Franziska out as a closet voyeur was a cool idea. It's just me but I'd love to see just how much watching is actually affecting her. I mean, just the sheer amount of thought processes she'll have in reprimanding herself for being a perv would be hilarious!
[By all means, write more shower scenes...... CFTF demands it.]
