Oh it was you outting me was it? Heh! Yeah, I only really realised after I saw that reponse on the Meme that Echoes does reference stuff from other stories I've written, although I did it without thinking about it. Specifically the photo booth snap and the writing on the VICTORY! pic.

I noticed that someone else on Page 14 has requested a story based on High And Dry. That's just too weird. Especially since the request is way off what happens in my mind :)

And yeah, while they have a lot to overcome, I do like to think of them having a happy ending eventually. They deserve it. I think they would make each other happy and I'm very fond of them :) I'm glad you like it.

I just saw the request. Looks like someone else is writing it -- could be interesting, but I can see how you wouldn't want to tackle it. I'd love to see something on Edgeworth's perspective during that time, but him following P around just doesn't make much sense.

It's so meta, though. Writing fanfic based on someone else's fanfic :D

Oh my lovely ;_;

As a piano player I immensely enjoyed All the Right Notes. Not only do you obviously know what you're talking about music-wise, you managed to make it very tender.

was just great. I loved how Nick could be talented without being sophisticated, and the other way around with Edgey. Just goes to show talent doesn't always come with "fine breeding." And on the note of fine breeding...

You made me laugh so hard with your Victorian AU that my parents stared at me. It was so great - it was silly and fun, but adorable at the same time. Lottie Hart made me die laughing, and even through the parody the romance was so sweet.

Some of the heavier, more sexual kinks I avoid, since i'm not a big sexual relations person. But so far your stories have been so nice.

Isn't it? That's the third request like that too. I'm not tackling it because the scenario in my head is not what the requester wants (as should be apparent from Echoes). But I will be interested to see what teh writer does! Fun!

BWAAH. I just read the entirely humorous crack fic, then Echoes. This made me want to cry. The end of Edgey's letter send a tear down my cheek. My parentals are incredibly curious as to what the hell I am doing now.

My only problem with Echoes was at the beginning there was something about "his dead mentor." My first reaction was PHOENIX DIES IN GS4 WTF WTF WTF and then I read on, and the next paragraphs made it sound like he didn't. So I'm going to assume he doesn't and that it just wasn't clear exactly who you were talking about (I'm assuming Mia? Not entirely sure.)

EDIT: It just loomed there - old, grey and battered, like a baleful monument to the life that his mentor had lost.

I think I interpreted it as dead. Now I'm just going to think it means his life as a defense attorney, which is now over. *whacks head* I did have to read that paragraph several times though.

Other than that, excellent job :D

I can play the piano but only in the same sense as Phoenix in this story - badly, and not for years :) He's better than me though as I can't play by ear :)

The romance bit (ie. the kissing) was the only bit I took seriously because I thought it was too sweet to do it a disservice - that bit owes more to Room With a View than it does to Victoriana. I laughed a whole lot writing the rest though :)

I like reading the sex stuff for the most part 'cos in this fandom especially a lot of it is very wittily written and entertaining. But I am not the best writer of that kind of story - I find it almost impossible to approach unless it serves a wider story.

To be fair though, I did write one extremely creepy story, I just haven't linked it here for various reasons!

And I'm pleased to say that the writer of the follow-up has posted their story and I really, really like it. I hope they out themselves because either High and Dry was better than I thought it was or they've been inside my head while I was sleeping and we are somehow soul-mates in angst :)

Ahahah 'Do You Come Here Often?' was yours? I should have guessed by the title :) It was hilarious. I also like how it started a sequence of corny lines in the comments ;)

And 'Echoes From the Past' made me cry reading Edgeworth's letter. I really don't know much about GS4 either (even though I've pretty much spoiled the whole thing for myself already) but I think you did a really good job with it. And yeah, this one was pretty obvious that it was you when I read the part about the signed photograph :)

I agree. I can't write smut either (or would feel silly writing it) so the non-sexual requests tend to catch my attention more, even though I've only filled one request so far, and I'm pretty sure the OP expected smut and I kinda turned it into humor instead ;) I really want to write more, but I'm lacking inspiration for some reason, and I'm also busy working on 'Fake Fairytales', which I really need to focus more on instead of getting sidetracked all the time ^^;

Are my titles distinctive or summat? I think I'm rubbish at titles actually! :edgeworth:

The title for that one was *almost" "Get Your Coat", but I didn't think US folks would get the joke (as in the chat up line "get yer coat lass, you've pulled") as not sure it translates.

A couple of people expressed surprised that both "Do You" and "Echoes" were mine and written in the same 24 hour period - I guess they are completely different in approach from each other but I dunno - I think my writing style is easy to spot now.

Gave myself away with that photo, huh. Damn. I'll have to be more careful in future. This is what happens when you write up notes late at night. Well now, I rather unexpectedly found I *can* write smut but only when it's a longer story that starts to go in that direction anyway. Writing PWP just seems to be out of my sphere for some reason. It'd probably take me about 20 pages of conversation and foreplay before there was even a kiss :godot:

Ahah I don't know. There's just something about your titles that kind of gives it away but I don't think I can really explain it. Also, I usually can tell it's you when the story simply has a title, since most anons leave theirs untitled until they out themselves. And I can usually tell by the British spellings too, but I guess there weren't enough in this one to give yourself away, or maybe I was just tired and didn't notice (like I should be up reading fanfics at 4 AM).

Yeah, I guess the fact that they were written in the same day and that I read 'Echoes' first probably made me oblivious to the other one being yours too ;)

It's not a bad thing though. It takes a lot to actually make me cry so it just means it was well written. I love your personal canon btw (even though mine still refuses to acknowledge the events of GS4 XD).

Ahahah, yeah that's pretty much my thoughts on PWP too. Who knows, I might find out I can write smut too after I'm ten chapters or so into my story.

"Get your coat, you've pulled" is a UK bad chat up line.

Basically it just means "get your coat from the cloakroom, we're going home together". "Pulled" is a euphemism for "picked up". Over here you go out "on the pull" if you're going out looking for a potential date or sexual partner. Otherwise known as "sharking".

I was trying to avoid Britisms in this fic because I think the slang can be a bit too obscure - even though the idea of Edgeworth knowing a line as base as "Get Your Coat" makes me laugh far too hard.

I shall take it as an enormous compliment that I made you cry a little.

Let me know if you suddenly break out in to smut. I had to have a nice sit down and a cup of tea when it happened to me. :godot:

Wow...I thought I'd already commented on here. I guess not, heh. ^^;; I've not read all of them since I'm waiting to finish T+T, and waiting FOR GS4. XD And I'm not too interested in sexy stuff. But anyway...it's so hard to pick a favourite!

Let it Snow - This is so cute. XD And believable - I could really see this happening. One stray snowball, though, and they could end up with an all-out war...prosecutors vs. defence? X3 lol, that's crack, I know. But I think I want to write it now, hm.

Insomnia - Aww. Very bittersweet...Phoenix asleep = adorable. Nice use of 'in repose', too, I liked that description. ^^

Some Things Never get Old - WAII. X3 Very sweet, very touching. Phoenix always will be young at heart. <3 And Edgeworth with glasses is win. People don't often think what happens to characters in their older years...you took this idea and ran with it really well.

Cuckoo - ...Damn. I mean, damn. I actually felt physically sick after reading this. You've made me hate von Karma more than ever, congrats.

All the Right Notes - I was waiting for that Morcambe and Wise quote all the way through. X3 British comedy for the win! The other jokes were funny, too. I guess my only criticism is Phoenix uses british words (bloody, headmaster), which looks a little odd. XD;; I can understand, though. It's difficult not to write in your own accent, I've slipped up before.

Do you come here often? - "Get your coat, Wright, you've pulled." "...I've what?" XDD Yay drunken randomness/silliness. What I found especially funny is Edgeworth says nothing but pickup lines the whole time. Take him home, Phoenix, he's had enough~!

Thanks for looking at my stories, too. :3 You're a legend.

My (unsubstantiated but I like it) personal theory with these two is that they age almost in opposite ways. For Miles, the further he gets away from his youth (which he associates with unhappiness and pain) the better. For Phoenix, the further he gets away from his youth, the less he likes it. I think they're an excellent balancing act in that regard :godot: I love them as an older couple. Really really do. I find it hard not to want to write fluff when I think about them. Heh.

Y'know, Phoenix always curses in Brit in my fic - Bloody and Christ are easily his favourite words. ironically Miles is fouler mouthed than Phoenix, but only in particular circumstances :edgeworth:

I know he does it, it's not an accident. It sounds natural for him and I don't really worry about it since IN THE GAME he uses the word BUGGER as a curse word a couple of times. And the game has many other Britisms in the script. So swearing? I just go with the flow. And don't ask how Phoenix might have seen M&W, he just *did* okay. On You Tube or something :redd:

(Headmaster was a mistake though, you're right :P That should have been Principal - this is what happens when you don't have a beta look through! I do try and avoid that sort of overt cultural slip-up as a rule unless it's Miles talking - he gets away with a lot).

I felt physically sick *writing* Cuckoo, which is why it ended up shorter than I had intended - I had to wrap it up or risk never finishing it. Apart from High and Dry I think it's the only story I've had a strong physical reaction to during the writing process.

Thank you for your ever-so-kind words.

Can I just say first of all that I love your fics- I've probably read almost every PW fic known to man (I'm an OBSESSIVE reader) and yours genuinely are some of the very best I've read.

What's made me bother to comment is Echoes - which made me cry. Me! I am a hard Northern lass! Your vision sadly 'echoes' mine almost exactly. The thought of someone leaving their entire past behind being expressed so eloquently... *bubbles*

I request extra-super-flufftastic reunions with all from his past. Oh, and obviously, hot reunion E/P sexings

Bargh, I literally can't construct a sentence?! Look what you've DONE!

Hah! I'll get round to a reunion story one day - I have one sort of plotted out vaguely in lots of individual scenes. I need to play GS4 first though.

Thank you for your compliments! I'm blushing. A lot of credit must go to some of the fine folks in this fandom who inspire me with their own work, to be honest.

I didn't know that! XD Now you make me want to replay the games just to see Phoenix say bugger...thanks to Terry Practchett, it's one of my favourite swears. Maybe picks it up from Edgeworth? Maybe he's secretly an Anglophile? Hah, more likely one of the localisation people was a Brit. :edgy:

That seems most likely. And it's why I don't worry about the odd slip into Brit-speak from time to time as that's completely as per the game. :redd: I just try to avoid specific words that don't carry over well (like headmaster ooops).

I think it's in JFA that he says it, and so does the judge. Maybe in AA (1:3) as well actually, I can't remember now.

*spits out drink as she reads "Do you come here Often?" Oh, my, that was HILARIOUS! I was so caught off guard when I read that I literally coughed up my drink. The very first line out of Edgey's mouth. I did a double take like Phoenix. And the whole "You know what would look good on you line?", my god Miles, could you get any cornier? :redd: I immensely enjoyed reading that. I couldn't stop laughing.

And then after reading that one you made me sniffle at "Echoes". :sob: That was so sad and sweet as well. And yes it fits the same tempo and follow through to High and Dry very well.

Those were very enjoyable to read. Great job.

Thank you! I only wish I could have worked in "Can I end this sentence with a proposition?" to the first one. Sadly it was overkill and a one note joke can only go so many words :)

Desperately trying to keep some semblance of in-character-ness was well nigh impossible. That's why I had to introduce alcohol, and plenty of it ;)

Much hilarity has ensued in the original thread that might make you giggle - it seems that bad pick up lines are well known among the meme regulars and now it's time to practice them all on me :) (warning - some rudeness in this thread)!

I would just like to state for the record, that you are totally the non-smut queen of the kink meme :)

That is, especially, if a certain new story was written by who I think it was ;)

If it was, I'm not sure I'm admitting to it. I have an aversion to overwrought WOES.

Aww, but it's such good emo. Also, I think people (well, at least me) like your GS4-era angst because it does feel like there's a possibility of a reunion down the line, even if there's stupid amounts of angst first. And the fact that you're writing them all in the same universe makes each little snippet feel more like a big story.

Is there such a thing as good emo? *scratches head*. I generally try to avoid it, as the pit of melodrama and the chasm of angst make me roll my eyes. The GS4 stuff is easily the hardest to write, actually. I end up hacking at it mercilessly to make it less OH WOES! but tryng not to lose genuine emotion at the same time. It's proving to be challenging writing practice, especially since there doesn't seem to be much out there dealing with it for me to reference against. Initially I was going to leave it with the one story, but the Kink Meme has been my undoing in that respect.

I wholeheartedly agree -- especially about the continuity thing. It does feel like bits and pieces of a big story, which is nice, because there aren't a lot of good, long stories in the PW fandom. Snippets in the same universe are very nice :)

Yes, I think there's good emo and bad emo. In the case of your continuity, I think the emo is appropriate because it's not just angst for the sake of angst, it's completely believable given the circumstances. For instance -- if Phoenix has just been disbarred and he is in love with Miles and has just dumped him because of what's happened, he should be crying. Bawling, weeping, and drinking...can't forget the drinking.

Yeah, I keep waiting for someone to tell me to send my interpretation of the characters to a 12 step program. They are quite often boozing, aren't they? Oops.

To be fair, I only really wanted to tackle the grief request to see if I could verbalise the feeling. I'm not sure I managed it really. But I'm also not sure I could do it any better. It's really genuinely indescribable I think, based on my limited experience.

Honestly, I think you did a good job, but I agree with you on how difficult it is. Whenever I've written grief like that (and it was a long time ago), it always tends to end up the same way -- booze and tears. Especially the booze. I don't know why, but adult characters and serous grief always = alcohol to me.

Maybe I'm just projecting, though -- since my way of handling grief is either sitting and angsting, or attempting to party to forget it.

I don't think I would necessarily have involved booze if I'd been telling a story about Edgeworth. I just have a feeling about Phoenix in that regard :)

Yeah, I think we had that discussion on LJ -- I'll agree, again.

It's the damn grape juice that does it for me. Anyway, time to stop chatting and start working. Work. Ugh.

Yup. I'm mid-edit of a story myself :)

Ooh, well, can't wait to read it :)

So much more interesting than the paper I'm trying to read for.

Lol Edgey's boyfriend made me laugh.
But I loved both of them. I wanted to hug poor Nick - you portray hopelessness so bitingly.
ANd it was wonderful to see how Edgey's doing. We see enough of how Nick turned out in GS4, and I liked how you made him realistic. He didn't sit around and angst and dwell like a emo kid, he angsted with class.

You make me wish I thought of it first ;_;
Loves as always!

Heh. Well it's mere speculation, but I tend to think of him as the more stoic type in general to be honest. He's already been through more shit than most and come out alive. I'm waiting for the hate mail for giving him a sex life. :)

Well whoever sends that hate mail is a myopic fan of his. He's gotta move on, somehow, and he's not the same stuffy JOB ONLY MUST BE PERFECT Edgeworth from 1-2 and 1-3. He's changed so much, and you depict the pattern of that change very well.
