It's weird trying to project another year onto his life, plus living abroad, and taking into account the incremental changes through the three games *frowns*. Hopefully I'm somewhere in the ballpark-ish - enough not to be wildly OOC at any rate.

OK I lied about Edgeworth. He does have some vodka in the freezer.

Damn they really do need a 12 step program.

Now THAT is a fic that I'd love to read. Although I think it would be most entertaining as crack/humour fic, so no doubt someone, somewhere would be offended by it.

Or hmmm, maybe not even drinking, but one of them enters a 12-step program to quit the other :O

Oh man, is that a kink meme request or what??

Oh god, I need sleep.

It's so ridiculous, but I was really crying at all the angst-filled stories. I can't even think about High and Dry without welling up a bit. But Let it Snow and Do You Come Here Often cheered me up quite a bit afterwards :edgy: All in all, you're an excellent writer! I really get sucked into the pieces.

I sympathise - High and Dry makes me choke a bit too, even though I wrote the bloody thing. I feel I may be getting a reputation now for bringing the WOES wherever I go which was not the intent!

I'm glad that you've enjoyed them despite the crying! I do like writing the funny ones :)

<333 Gah, the whole part about it being Nick's idea to buy beer just makes it another one of those moments where you start shouting "DON'T DO IT. DON'T GO INTO THE STORE." at the screen. I'm not a fan of non canon-death either, and I could tell you disliked it as well, but it was still very well written and I enjoyed it. And felt like sobbing.

Why do you feel like you have to be so anonymous? You can tag anonymous, but be proud of your work! Never feel like you have to disguise talent. I'd love to see the requests you want to do, regardless of whether people recognize you or not.

Yeah, I did dislike it, but the thing is, once I start writing something I feel obliged to get into the heads of tthe characters regardless. That's why I AVOID any prompts usually if I think it's going to take me to Bad Places - there is no way I would have written a Phoenix dying in Edgeworth's arms for example. NO WAY.

It would just be nice if I could try out some of the prompts that are in less comfortable zones of writing for me and feel I could get away with being anon. I did that with the first story I wrote (which is not linked here but is in my LJ) but between then and now things have changed a bit and I'm not sure I'd write that one NOW.

That probably makes no sense at all.

My..heart...agh.. it's frolicking right in these beer shard puddles on the floor. I hate this story but I cannot deny how incredibly professionally this is written. I admire how you can deal with a scenario that's been dealt with by so many other writers, yet approach it so refreshingly and never lose fluency. I believe it is this professionality that keeps shining through, and if you're being recognized for it, it is all the respect you deserve. If not even more. Here, have my beer- and shard-covered heart.

I can't actually believe how many short fics (and a couple of ideas for longer ones) I now have in my catalogue due to this meme. It's just been great for inspiration. Being able to try different styles and subjects and approaches has been great for learning where my personal weak spots vs. what I write without even thinking lie.

This one quite literally fell out of my brain onto the keyboard in one write-through, followed by one edit. The bulk of the two-ish hours I spent on it was researching aortic trauma caused by knife wounds and the stages of shock that a victim would go through. Oh and finding a quote for the memorial that summed up how I feel about both Edgeworths and that would also apply to how Phoenix might think about their relationship as well. Why yes, I am a research nerd.

I just wanted to avoid melodrama, which is usually the direction that these things go in. I believe this kind of story works best if it is kept simple, the unerpinning facts are accurate and the reader can fill in the blanks from their own emotions.

Edited to add - I'm glad that the beer shard puddles were such a memorable image. I do worry about my tendencies to be a bit Thomas Hardy sometimes and go off and describe something apparently irrelevant (not to me but possibly to a reader). There were a couple of reasons I included the beer bottles bit but I wasn't sure if it would look like a tangent or irrelevant detail to anyone else.

Hey, it was good heart wrenching writings. Teh angst, teh drama. I just wanted to give them many hugs. :acro:

And then I went and read some more in that Meme. I swear, there's some interesting requests and responses. I don't know if you read it yet but there's one that is funny and flustery at the same time. It's the one with Phoenix losing his mind in the middle of *ahem* something with Miles. :hotti: I read that one after reading your newer ones and was like WHOA, that was a change of pace. *laughs*

I swear, that thread is addicting.

Is it horrible for me to say that I think of In Between Days as actually quite ... well not upbeat exactly but not exactly depressing either.

I was a bit confused that it made people cry I must admit. Ah well. I guess I have different expectations of Edgeworth or summat :godot:

Late to the train, but I'm really enjoying your writing. Your sense of description and ability to evoke atmosphere is very good, and your tight control over your dialogue really heightens the impact of what's going on. 2-11 hit me like a truck, and Rainy Days and Rainbows was darling, putting a smile on my face with relatively few words--I really admire your range. And as uncomfortable as the most recent NC-17 bit was to read, it was extremely well written, and I'm pleased with how you handled such a touchy subject.

Thank you! High praise indeed coming from (as I recall) the first person whose fic I read (and favourited) in this fandom and who made me go out and find more.

I'm still learning as I go along because it's been so long since I wrote fiction and had to overcome my deeply avoidant, repressive internal editor - but I'm thoroughly enjoying it, even when writing the less fluffy stories. I adore the characters I am writing to the point of getting emotional about them, and I am knocked out by the general level of friendliness and ability in this fandom (small as it is).

And yeah. The recent NC-17 story was what I call a "two gin" story. I don't know. I have had my eye on that prompt for a while and it worried at me like a nagging pain that it would be treated lightly. I don't think I'll be able to deal with the smell of lavender for a while though.

W-well, speaking of high praise...! XD;

No, this fandom has provided a similar experience for me. With the encouragement of some of the friends I've made here, I'm pretty sure I've written more in the last year than I have in the last decade; it's been a really great experience. And speak of the devil, has introduced me to some wonderful writers, too...!

In very very late reply to your post, I asked myself about the beer bottles, too, but accepted them as part of the scenario. They were included very professionally and I believe were one of the factors that gave the story a metropolitan touch.

I'll read the new story as soon as I can.

They were mainly a device to divide the bit where Phoenix says everything moved really fast from the bit where he says it's moving in slow motion. Heh. Also a strained metaphor for shattered lives obviously, but mainly the first :)

There are actually a couple more since 2-11 now - and one not linked from here that is in my journal once you get to it (but it is NC17 and v. dark so may not be your cup of tea).

Remembrances placed a large lump in my throat. You're crazy good at narrating fleeting moments and refreshing approaches. What jumps to mind when hearing "And then Phoenix was a hobo" isn't exactly the sad, intriguing and so charming piece you've just written, but some half-assed attempt at comedy. How you've named the kids, how you're raising Pearl to be an adult who now teaches others that not everything is romance and happy endings, how you're filling the gap between the two games with few words so satisfyingly... Though I can't shake the feeling you killed Edgeworth just to depress me. You're cruel.
