Scrubbing his teeth fiercely, Phoenix Wright ran through his notes about his court case that afternoon in his head. He had a few hours before him and Maya were to meet up with their client again for this first day on trial. Wiping the sleep out of his eyes, Phoenix continued to scrub his teeth, considering once more, his slim case. He would be fighting against Edgeworth for this case too. He'd been in tighter situations, but he wished just for once that one of the cases he had were nice simple ones. He could see the trial lasting a day or two. Something about the evidence didn't quite stack up. Spitting out his tooth paste finally, he gave his mouth a few rinses and his boxers a quick scratch.
Edgeworth. Ever since he had his year off prosecuting, he had changed completely from the man he knew. He was still the cold and arrogant prosecutor in court that he always was, but Edgeworth's edge had dulled off to a smooth. His cold words in court were no longer cold, and he often spotted him smile when new evidence was presented. Phoenix Wright smiled to the mirror in front of him, finger combing his dark hair back. “Miles Edgeworth. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you finally thought of me as a friend again.”
Taking a scoop of hair gel, his door bell suddenly rang, scaring his cat nearby, who was snoozing quietly on his couch. Phoenix's eyes narrowed dully, quickly slicking the gel into his hair. “If that's another person selling fund raising biscuits, I think I'll give up being a lawyer and get into selling them myself.” Phoenix grumbled to himself, grabbing his wallet as he clambered for the door. Checking how much money he had to give, his face went limp as he realised that he was now down to loose change. “GAH! I need to start a Phoenix charity fund to pay for all these door knockers!”
Hiding his half dressed self behind the door, Phoenix swung the door open. “I can't give you any more than $5, so if you...”
“Pardon?” Phoenix stopped talking, as he realised that it was Edgeworth at the door, ready for court- besides a huge coffee stain and food entrails right down the front of his suit. Edgeworth himself was completely mortified with his situation, holding his briefcase as if it were a dead skunk. “Do you mind if I come in?”
“Go for it.” Phoenix motioned Edgeworth in, chucking him a sponge to wipe down his brief case. Edgeworth gave him a quick smile, catching it with his free hand. Phoenix reached over to his jug to turn on his hot water for a moment, reconsidering as he realised that was probably a touchy subject at that moment. “I'm picking you need a change of clothes.”
“Guilty as charged,” Edgeworth replied, glancing away from Phoenix's half dressed state. “The waitress was clumsy with one of her customer's orders. I was at the right place, at the wrong time. What's your excuse?” Phoenix grinned, grabbing his attorney badge sitting on a nearby ledge.
“It's dress down day at the office- didn't you get the memo?” Edgeworth raised his brow, wiping off the tacky coffee residue on his suitcase. Phoenix slipped his badge into the top of his boxers, slamming his hand onto the table beside Edgeworth. “I need a warm up, want me to take them to court for a new suit?”
“There's no way you're representing me in Hello Kitty print.” Edgeworth pointed out with coy glance. Handing back the sponge to its rightful owner, Edgeworth started un knotting his neck tie. “If you find out who stole you fashion sense however, I'll make sure they get a guilty verdict.”
“I'll take that as my cue,” Phoenix grinned, motioning Edgeworth to follow him.
