Ok, my first fanfic for Phoenix Wright...I hope it goes well!
EDIT: This was highly inspired by Xero Wright and Mia Fey's fanfic.

Title: Vengence, Thy Turnabout.
Author: Dahlia.
Rating: 12+ (We'll have to see about this...)
Genre: Mystery...It's Phoenix Wright, for crying out loud!
Status: Not.
Pairing: Phoenix/Iris
Summary: Phoenix is brought back into the world of law with old friends and new foes...can he unvarel this case?

Ok, that's pretty much it. Enjoy!

Prologue: The Trace of Law

Phoenix gave a sigh as he turned the newspaper to the funnies, bored. Nothing could stop how nervous he was, but the outcome was right in his favour...
Phoenix had been disbanded as a lawyer for false evidence, but it was recently proved that he was tricked. Phoenix was now awaiting a phone call from the Board of the Courts, as a meeting to discuss the topic was in order. Phoenix put the newspaper on a table, but clumsily knocked over a picture. The glass shattered and Phoenix bit his lip as he cut his finger, trying to pick it up. He then decided to use the newspaper to clear it up. He picked up the picture after he emptied the glass and sighed. It was a picture of Iris Hawthrone. Phoenix missed her, in jail, he longed for her to come out, sadly, the crime she did seven years ago kept her behind bars.
He put the photo frame back onto the table, with two other pictures. One was of Apollo Justice and Trucy, who were currently on vacation in the United Kingdom.
The other one was of Maya Fey and Pearl Fey, this one was old, taken seven years ago. Maya, now the Master of the Kurain Channeling School, had to go to Japan to aquire special training. Pearl had gone with her, apparently learning from a special tutor from America for her studies.

Suddenly, the phone rang as Phoenix suddenly came back to earth from focusing on old memories...
"H-Hello?" He spoke, his voice quivering and his hand shaking.
"Ah, Mr Wright. It seems we are ready with your outcome. The Board decided that you are allowed to practise law."
"That's great news!" Phoenix said, he had nearly shouted, but he had to keep calm, yet he was overcome with joy.
"Yes...but, we decided to send someone over with your attorney badge. I imagine they'll be arriving soon."
"T-Thank you...goodbye." Phoenix put the phone down on the receiver and propelled his fist into the air.
"I can finally be a defense attorney again!" He spoke as he sipped his cup of tea.
About five minutes later, there was a knock at the door. Phoenix went up to answer it from his couch, turning off the weather forecast.
He opened the door...
"I-Iris!" Phoenix exclaimed at the person at the door.

That's it for now, I don't tend to really long chapters, so I apologise.

And remember, it is not the length of the chapter that counts, it's the content. So, no worries about length here. I continually worry about the length of my chapters, and they're usually 2000-2500 words. XD

Woohoo! Another FeenRis writer! Your work is a welcome addition in my book. Great work coming from one so young! Not much to work with just yet, but I like what I see. You remind me of myself in terms of style and pace. Slow to produce but the product is generally good. Your story dovetails pretty nicely with my own work so far, in fact. I don't know if you've read it or not, but the title is Crime and Punishment. I see Xero Wright has beaten me to it several times over replying to you. Yet another sign of how slowly and deliberately I write. I patiently await the next master stroke.

I haven't read it, but I will when I get a chance, which is right now. XD And I agree about the length, I write fanfics in small chapters and when I see big ones, I always think, "WHAT THE HECK?!" So, I do my fanfics, my way, my style, like you two have said and anyone who hates that...well, that's your problem.

Nice start! And I agree with Xero and Gregory. Focus on quality not quantity or speed. We can wait until its ready. Writing can be very hard. I know mine usually take forever because of how many times they get edited and rewritten before I deem them worthy of being posted (or even proofread by another person). I look forward to more from you. And of course a general cheer for more Phoenix/Iris fics!

Well, my eldest brother is back from Univeristy, so it's gonna be a bit harder to get onto the computer, but I shall do my best.

Chapter 1: The Heart Returns
Phoenix stared in disbelief at Iris, her black, silk like hair blowing in a slight draft. Iris stepped in, but Phoenix didn't shut the door, still lost for words.
"So...you got out?" He finally spoke.
"...Yes." Iris closed the door and turned to look at Phoenix.
"Are you...unhappy? I got out on parole..."
"N-no...I'm glad." Phoenix smiled, then suddenly blushed as Iris kissed him on the cheek.
"I've been waiting so long...to see you again, Feenie." Iris spoke cheerfully. She suddenly lit up with pink all over her face.
"Do...you think I'm more womanly now?"
"O...of course..." Phoenix replied.
Iris grinned and suddenly grabbed Phoenix's hand, dropping into his palm a attorney badge.

"Your attorney badge..." She whispered.
"They gave it to you?" Phoenix asked.
Iris nodded.Phoenix examined it. It seemed to be in good condition, but the gold was starting to fall off a bit.
"I guess I should polish it." Phoenix spoke as he walked across the room and withdrew from his table drawer a green gem.
"Your Magatama?" Iris spoke, a look of curiosty on her face.
"Yeah...my only momento of Maya...and..." Phoenix stopped as flashes of Mia Fey came through his mind.
Iris hugged him as Phoenix stared at the Magatama, then, he stroked Iris's hair, the feel of it giving him great warmth.
"So...are we going?"
"Hazukurain Temple. Sister Bikini is still teaching there...and I don't know if you heard...but...Mystic Maya is there right now, showing her new powers to all the students of Kurain."
Phoenix nodded, then, he suddenly walked to a door and turned to Iris.
"Wait for me."
He stepped through the door and closed it as Iris looked confused. Phoenix stepped out about five minutes later, wearing his blue suit, which was a little dusty, but it looked well, nonetheless.
"Ok. Let's go." Phoenix spoke to Iris.

Chapter 2: The Surprise of Time.
Phoenix stared up at the high, grassy mountain in front of them. They had gotten a taxi to the bottom and would climb up on foot. It was spring time, after all, and the mountains took on the wonderful nature look.
"I'd thought you would have gotten a liscense?" Iris asked Phoenix as she paid the fare. The taxi then drove down the rocky road leading to the mountain.
Phoenix noticed a red sports car that was parked at the bottom, which he found odd.
"Well, I never really found time to...I was..."
Phoenix stopped and Iris held his hand.
"I know...you were hurt by the whole events..."
Phoenix nodded and Iris put her head to his chest. Phoenix then kissed her on the head and they walked up the mountain together...

When they arrived, the spring air full of butterflies and flowers hit them. Iris gave a thankful look at the temple, which had hardly changed...
"Well, who do we have here, then!"
Phoenix saw the woman hobbling to them, wearing the nun clothes that Hazakurain Temple was famous for.
"Sister Bikini!" Spoke Iris as she realized who was speaking to them.
Bikini looked at Iris and gave a joyful laugh.
"Iris...my dear Iris, you're back! Thank the heavens!" Bikini spoke as she put her hands to her hips and smiled.
"Sister Bikini...I'm so happy to see you..." Iris burst into tears as Phoenix put his arm around her.
"There there, pet." Bikini stepped forward and hugged Iris, who stopped crying after a few moments.
Iris wiped her eyes, which were now red.
"And Mr Wright! So glad to see you again!" Chuckled Bikini as she looked at him.
"It's good to see you, Sister Bikini. How are you and everyone else? I heard Larr...I mean, Laurice left..." Phoenix tutted at the end of that last sentence, as though he had expected it.
"Yes, some model came, to pose in the mountains and she and Laurice are dating, so now they live in California."
Phoenix nodded.
"Great...another model." He noticed Iris looking a little wistful as she spoke again.
"So...is Mystic Maya here?"
"My dear Iris, she just arrived only a few minutes ago!" Bikini spoke cheerfully.
"Would you like to see her?"
Phoenix nodded, but Iris tilted her head away.
"I'd like to catch up with everyone else from the temple...maybe some other time."
Phoenix nodded and kissed Iris goodbye as he walked into the main hall.

Phoenix looked around. The main hall hadn't hardly changed. Suddenly, a door burst through to the right and a teenage girl with her blonde hair in a ponytail appeared.
"Why do I always get lost?" She sighed , then she looked up to Phoenix and walked over with a jolly attitude.
"Oh, hi!! How are you, what's your name, when you were born, do you wanna get married?"
Phoenix suddenly stepped back at the last line.
"Umm...I-I have a girlfriend...thanks..."
The girl sighed as she put her hands to her hips. She was wearing a blue top with a black shirt and a red scarf. She was also wearing black high heel boots.
"Darn, well, you look too old for me anyway. But, I have to introduce myself. Lily, Lily Mikage. I'm 18 years old." She smiled at Phoenix, as though to expect the same.
"Phoenix Wright. Defense...A-Attorney..34 years old." He spoke.
"Right...hey, you're new around here, but can you help me find the rooms? I'm staying here, I'm a first year college student in art and I came here to get some feel for inspiration." She smiled cheerfully at this.
"Actually, I've been here before. I'd be glad to show you where the rooms are."
Lily stared curiously.
"Before? Wow, then, lead on!" She stepped behind Phoenix as he walked towards the rooms...

They found themselves in the corridors to the rooms, Lily ran to her door and unlocked it.
"Oh, thank you thank you thank you!" Lily spoke as she unlocked it and went in.
Phoenix stepped in after her, but Lily nearly closed the door, just enough for a gap for her head.
"Sorry, no peeking!" She winked.
Phoenix stepped out blushing as Lily stepped out a minute later.
"I had to do my hair." She brushed her ponytail and Phoenix could see it had been combed neatly.
Lily opened her door fully and Phoenix could see a dresser, a table with three chairs, a mirror and a wardrobe, a window with a view of Eagle River and there was a sketchbook on the bed with a picture of a butterfly.
Suddenly, the door leading to the rooms opened and an old man wearing a black suit, black shoes, a blue tie and a bald head entered. He was holding a wooden staff to walk. Behind him with an orange haired guy in a tracksuit with gloves who had a scar across his cheek. He wore brown cowboy boots.
"Ah, Lily, are you here?" The old man spoke.
Lily stepped into the corridor and ran to the old man.
"Grandpa! Grandpa, this is Phoenix Wright. He's a defense lawyer."
"Phoenix Wright, I've heard much about you, an excellant defense lawyer."
"T-Thank you sir." Phoenix spoke as he blushed a little.
The man behind him shuffled, but said nothing.
"This is my grandpa, Darius. The guy behind him is my friend, Aki. He's the silent type."
Aki nodded. Phoenix stared at the Grandpa.
"It's a pleasure to meet the pair of you." Phoenix spoke.
"Ah, you too, Phoenix Wright, but, lunch is about to begin, and forgive me, but I hate to miss out on the meal made by Miss Bikini. Truly superb."
Darius waved a goodbye as Lily and Aki walked out with him. Lily winked again. Phoenix was about to go look for Maya again, when suddenly...
"NIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!"
Phoenix turned and saw her standing in the corridor...
"Maya..."

This is awesome, the first GS fanfic I decide to read it rocks some vicious. Can't wait for more!!
Also, should Phoenix still be a somewhat shy? I mean he doesn't seem shy or anything in GS4, just throwing that out there.

Ha...! Yet again another talented writer! I'm lovin' the story so far and I can't wait to see more. *Adds to his list of favorite fanfic authors* Everyone seems in character so far and I'm still looking over the chapters for errors...

First of all, it's spelled "license".
Next: "Sister Bikini...I'm so glad to see you..." Iris burst into tears as Phoenix put his arm around here. Obvious error.
Lastly, it's just nit-pickery, but when Lily says that Phoenix is a defense lawyer and then Darius says he's heard a lot about him, an excellent defense lawyer... I just think "defense lawyer" being used twice is kinda... repetitive. Maybe excellent attorney or something would go better there.

Other than those small errors, excellent fanfic!!! I'm loving all this Phoenix/Iris stuff. I'm so glad there are so many supporters. Please continue, but take your time of course. I'll be watching this one... (Heehee... I love that phrase.)

The plot thickens. Who is Aki? What and how does Darius know about Phoenix? Does Maya know Iris's standing with Phoenix? What will she do if knowledge of the renewed Phoenix/Iris courtship comes to her as a surprise? Intriguing questions, the answers to which I look forward to watching unfold. So far so good.

Sorry I haven't reviewed again recently. This is quite good. Poor Iris though. Did she really spend seven years in jail? Considering Adrian's sentence I had figured it would be about a year or so, but then again that's not important. Keep up the good work!

Chapter 3: Dark Worries.
Phoenix had time to register the girl who he hadn't seen for seven years in front of him, Maya Fey, wearing a training outfit that was this time green and she wore a red amulet. Then, Phoenix felt the wind knocked out of him as Maya hugged him.
"I'm so glad to see you!" Maya spoke, she had grown quite a lot, only a few inches down from Phoenix.
"Maya...how are you...and Pearl?" Phoenix asked.
"I'm fine, but Pearl couldn't come, she felt it'd be tough to come back to the USA and start a new school and such...and the tutor hates going to other countries." Maya tutted as she spoke the last sentence.
"So...you're the Master..."
"Yes! And with it comes a big responsibilty!" Maya nodded happily.
"In fact, I'm due to demonstrate my powers for Sister Bikini and the other visitors!"
"That's great!" Phoenix's look suddenly grew concerned and he spoke quietly.
"Maya...me and Iris are back together."
He thought he saw a flicker of shock on Maya's face, but she looked happy, so Phoenix casted it off.
"Oh, is she out? That's great news!" She replied.
"I'm glad you think that. I think we should head to lunch now."
"Oh, I thought I heard your stoumach rumbling." Maya giggled.
"H-Hey!" Phoenix grew red as he followed her across the corridor...

In the dining room, Sister Bikini, Iris, two training acolytes, Aki, Darius and Lily were all there. Lily was eating some japanese dumplings. Daruis was eating chicken soup, the heat rising slowly into the air. Aki was drinking wine.
Sister Bikini saw Phoenix and Maya come in.
"Ah, Mr Wright, Mystic Maya, come in, come in!" She waved her hand as Phoenix sat down next to Iris, Maya sitting next to him.
"This is splendid, Miss Bikini." Daruis spoke as he consumed the entire bowl of soup.
"Yeah, this is some cooking!" Lily spoke as she scoffed down the dumplings.
"I'm glad you enjoy it. I made them with bones from other humans."
Lily immediatly spat a mouthful of dumplings out, Darius grinning.
"Ho! Ho! Ho! Just my little joke, Lily."
Lily wiped her mouth and giggled as Phoenix fed noodles to Iris from his fork. Maya was drinking some orange juice.
Soon, the entire table's food had been consumed.
"Well, I think that's the meal enjoyed!" Bikini motioned to the two acolytes, who rose at once to help clear the plates away.
"Do you want me to help?" Lily asked.
"No, no, dear! You sit and rest."
"Ok, thanks!" Lily sank into her seat.
"Aki, can we drive into the city later? The latest copy of the Pink Princess, Madness of the Heart, is out!" Lily spoke.
Maya's eye lit up at this.
"Great...so the pair of them are fans of the same show...they must get along like a house on fire..." Phoenix thought.
Aki shook his head.
"Lily, I've got more important stuff then to ride into town in my car to get your films."
Lily immediatly did the puppy dog eyes, which Phoenix felt an instant to applaud how well she did it, but Aki didn't shift.
"Oh, is that red sports car yours, Aki?" Phoenix asked.
Aki nodded as he stepped up.
"I agree, Aki, it is getting a little late...8.00pm already! I shall retire to my room..." Darius spoke as he sat up.
"Are these two psychic or something?!" Phoenix whispered to Iris, Iris tried to hide her chuckle.
"Come, Lily, you need your rest, as Miss Bikini said. See you in the morning, Miss Fey, Miss Iris, Mr Wright."
Lily stood up and winked at Phoenix as she followed the pair.
"Well, I'll be heading back too. Goodnight." Maya yawned and followed after the three.
Phoenix looked at his watch.
"8.00pm as Darius said...let's go now, Iris."
"I-I think I'll go for a walk..." Iris replied.
Phoenix stared at her.
"But...it's dark, I don't want you..."
Iris had tears emerged from her eyes and suddenly Phoenix understood.
"I...I...I want to go to Dusky Bridge...to speak..to Valarie...Terry...and Dahlia..."
Phoenix nodded.
"Ok...I'll see you later."
Iris stood up and left the hall to the outside as Phoenix headed to the rooms.

Phoenix was about to fall asleep when it happened...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIII!!!"
"T-That scream...it came from the Training Room down the corridor!" Phoenix jumped out of bed and opened the door.

If I wasn't pulled in before, I certainly am now. Fascinating! I have only one minor question for you: What exactly did Iris mean by speaking to Terry, Valerie, and Dahlia at Dusky Bridge? Did she mean addressing them strictly within her own mind--reflecting--or literally speaking with them? If I remember correctly, she lacked the power to communicate with the dead herself, so in the latter case she would need someone else's help. At any rate, good stuff.

Chapter 4: A Heart Torn

Phoenix ran out of bed and opened the door, a second later, Lily had woken up and opened the door.
"What was that scream?" She asked Phoenix.
"I don't know...but it came from down there!"
The pair of them ran down the corridor and Phoenix wrenched open the door. Lily clasped her hand to her mouth in horror, Phoenix looked inside and nearly screamed.
Maya was lying on the floor, blood coming from her head. Iris was there, holding her hands to her chest, her hands were covered in blood. A second later, Darius and Aki opened the door that led to the Dining Hall of the Manor.
"Oh my goodness..." Darius stepped in, a serious look on his face.
"Lily, phone the police. Aki, grab her." Aki immediatly pinned Iris up against the wall as Lily ran out of the room.
"Hey!" Phoenix tried to shove Aki away, but was punched to the ground by him.
"Mr Wright...I know it must be hard for you, but in less then a second, I can see what happened. This girl..." He nodded to Iris.
"This girl has attacked Maya Fey..." He knelt beside Maya and checked her heart and shook his head.
"This girl...murdered Maya Fey."
"N-No....you're wrong...she can't be dead...she can't be! SHE CAN'T!!" Phoenix yelled as Sister Bikini came rushing in.
"My good gravy!" She spoke as she saw Maya on the floor. Darius stood up and pointed to Iris as he shook his head.
"Lily has gone to phone the police. We must put Iris somewhere where she can't escape. One of the guest rooms, the one with no windows." Darius commanded. Aki nodded and lifted Iris over his shoulder, who had now fainted. Phoenix closed his eyes...the pain of Maya killed was too much to bear...

Phoenix awoke in a room, watched over by Sister Bikini, who was dozing off, then she noticed Phoenix stir.
"Mr Wright, are you ok?"
Phoenix nodded and opened his mouth to speak, but Sister Bikini put a hand up.
"It wasn't a nightmare. Maya has been murdered...the police arrived and took Iris away...about twenty minutes ago."
Suddenly, Phoenix stood up.
"I'm going to go to the detention center, then."
Bikini gave a look of shock.
"But...are you going to defend Iris again?"
"Of course. She didn't murder the last time and she certainly hasn't this time..." Phoenix walked out of the room, Bikini powerless to stop him.
As Phoenix walked out, he heard a voice.
"Hey, you! Stop right there, pal!"
Phoenix turned around.
"Oh no...it's you..."

And of course, that's Gumshoe... XD Nobody else uses 'pal.' Were you doing what I did at the end of ch11 on my fic? o.o

Shock! Agony! A concussive blow to the head and chest! I really felt that one! Nice job! I'm immediately very suspicious of Darius. If he's doing what I think he's doing...I greatly look forward to watching Phoenix break him on the witness stand. This just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work!

Just a little notice...no, I've not given up, but I have found it harder to find time to continue with the next chapter...plus, I have a bad case of Writer's Block.
