Franziska: age 7
Edgeworth: age 14
Date: 14th Feburary
The day has come round again, Valentine's day.Edgeworth got out of bed, went over to the window and opened it, letting in all the beautiful light hopefully today I will get a Valentine's Edgeworth then got changed into his uniform. Long white socks, pretty red bow tie. Clean white shirt and today he thought instead of his usual black trousers and blazer, why not a pink? So he looked in his wardrobe and pulled out a pink blazer and pair of pink trousers; afterall it was Valentine's day.
Then Edgeworth waked into the dining room for breakfast
*Yawn* Franziska stretched her arms out wide. And got out of bed. No. Valentine's day. The worst day of the year.Well better get ready for school. She got changed into her usual uniform and headed downstairs. To have breakfast.
When she sat down at the table to her surprise Edgeworth was dressed in pink.
"Edgy, why are you dressed in pink?" asked Franziska.
"Well, it is Valentine's day, right?" replied Edgeworth smiling.
"I hate Valentine's day!" replied Franziska and began to eat her breakfast.
"Why?" asked Edgeworth confused and puzzled
"Remember?" replied Franziska. Doesn't he remember! It was the talk of the school last year... The easter incident. The same thing could happen again this year! She looked at Edgeworth as he thought about last year. He frowned.
"Yes I remember." he said. And the two of them silently ate until it was time to go to school together.
Soon they reached school. And both of them went into their seperate classes.
Edgeworth sat in his seat and looked around. Every other kid was chatting with their mates, no one sitting down ready to learn like Edgeworth. Unfortunately Egdworth did not have friends, they were a "distraction to education" as Manfred Von Karma told him. The same went for Franziska. Usually no one payed attention to Edgeworth but today they did.
Three boys walked up to him. And they pointed and laughed at him.
"Please stop the annoying laughter," asked Egdeworth. Keeping calm Why on earth are they laughing at me?
"we...can't...stop...laughing!" one of the boys said, and in between each pause.
"Why?" asked Edgeworth.
"Your clothes!" cried the other boy, poking at his pink blazer.
"What's wrong with that? What's wrong with my clothes?" Egdeworth said.
"They're pink!" the three said in chorus, laughed and walked away.
Edgeworth looked at himself. Is there something wrong with pink?
Throughout the day people sneered and whispered. Edgeworth could hardly take it ad then it was the lesson before lunch.
"Happy Valentine's day children!" cried the teacher as she walked into the room, "today going to be a great lesson, everyone should have in front of them a box, some card, feltip pens and some scissors. Now make a box with your name on it and then cut a hol in top big enough for a card to post though and also make a Valentine's card for your Valentine. Begin!"
Everyone started with their post box. Each one crudely made except Edgeworth's. All sweet and hung at their desks. Then they began on their Valentine's cards. Everyone seemed to know who was thei Valentine but Edgeworth didn't. Who could be my Valentine? I know, maybe I'll give one to Mel? Mel was the most popular girl in the class, athletic, smart and looked great with her sweet eyes and long brown curls that went down to her hips.
"Time's up children!" called the teacher. Everyone was ready. "Now post your card into your Valentine's post box, go!"
All the people in the class, stood with their cards and scrurried round the classroom; including Edgeworth. Edgeworth went over to Mel - he wasn't the only one, of course. Lots of people went over there, he tried to get to the box but couldn't, he was pushed away. Again and again. By the timw he got to the box everyone had returned to their seat. He was the only one stood up. He place it in. Mel looked him in the eyes.
"Happy Valentine's day Mel." said Edgeworth and before he turned away, Mel. She laughed and then the whole class laughed him as he shamefully walked to his seat and sat down with his face the same colour as his little bow tie.
"Now children you may open you postbox and see how many Valentine cards you got. Then I will call your name out and the one with the most get's this, a beautiful heart shaped badge.
Edgeworth opened his box, an tipped it upside down. Nothing. He looked around the classroom and everyone had at least two or three. Mel had about ten. The teacher began to call out names, he was dreading to here his name but sadly it was called.
"Miles Edgeworth," said the teacher.
"None miss" replied Edgeworth and looked down at the desk.
"Are you sure? You must of got at least one!" said the teacher Am I really this unloved?
"I didn't get one miss," replied Edgeworth as tears began to come to Edgeworth's eyes. And to make things worse the teacher didn't seem to care. And every pupil laughed. I can't take it! Edgeworth clenhed his fists, stood and walked out of the classroom and what did the students do? Laugh even louder.
Once out of the classroom he ran. All the way to the front door. Where he saw Franziska.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
Franziska. She walked into the classroom disgusted by by the others. Ugh! I'd hate to get a card from them. All of them, immature, pathetic cry-babies. Please let there not be a repition of last year Franziska sighed as she walked to her seat. Everyone seemed so excited.
"So, Franny, who's your Valentine?" asked a curious girl who loved to gossip.
"Yes tell us!" said another
"Please! We won't tell anyone, promise." cried another girl.
In Fraziska's class, she was the most popular one, the one everyone liked. The one whom every girl wanted to be like and the one who every boy seemed to love.
"I don't want Valentine's this year." replied Franziska. The other three girls sighed.
"There must be someone!" moaned one girl.
"C'mon! Tell us!" cried another
"Your lying, there must be someone!" said the third.
"Go away! Please." replied Franziska and the three girl walked over to their seats.
Just like Edgworth's class their class did the same. Though Franziska hard tried making a good postbox. She got her pen and wrote "Franziska Von Karma" then cut a hole in the top. Done.
Then, again like Edgeworth's class, everyone wandered round - except Franziska who didn't bother making a card. Many people crowded round and she didn't just get cards, she got presents too. Small teddies, even roses and chocolates. She hated it.
It wasn't that she was selfish and liked to push people away. It was what happened a year ago, last easter. Since then she didn't like recieving gifts.
Franziska won the prize of most-loved. She was given a box of heart-shaped chocolates. It disgused her the most. She picked it up and left the classroom. Everyone silenced and was in shock.
She walked out and headed to the front door. The bells going to go soon, then I can tell Edgeworth what happened. I wonder how his Valentine's day was... Then she looked down the corridor. She saw Edgeworth running, bright red and eyes watering. He ran and stopped at the front door. He realised Franziska was there and asked,
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here because~" she looked at Edgeworth's face and felt sorry for him, she needed to find out what on earth was up. "I got you these." She held up the box of heart shaped chocolates and gave them to Edgeworth. "Tell me what's wrong?"
Edgeworth told her the story. And then she realised that a box of heart-shaped chocolates could not heal the pain.
She looked at Edgeworth and left the building. Leaving Edgworth in confusion
I bet even Franziska thinks I'm a loser. but the he looked at the box of heart-shaped chocolates no she doesn't. I want Franziska to be my Valentine. Even if she is only seven. Does age matter, when everyone your age laugh at you? Makes fun of the way you dress? And the only person left in the world who cares about you is that seven-year old girl? Who would be your Valentine? The girl who laughed at you? Or the girl who got you a box of heart-shaped chocolates and listened to you and cared about you? I know I'll get her something, something she'll love.
The bell went for lunch and Edgeworth left school for a bit. Due to the fact his guardian and Franziska's dad was unbeatable prosecutor they left school at lunch time. They said that school dinners were not good and they did not like packed-lunches.
And so Edgeworth got out his wallet with money inside which would usual be for lunch but today he thought he'd spend it on Franziska's presents.
He turned the street corner which lead him to another street full of shops and in eah shop there was a sign saying stuff like "Valentine's Special offer!" and things like that.
He walked into each store and couldn't find anything! Nothing seemed "perfect" enough for her. After the easter incident he couldn't get any "traditional" Valetine's gifts. It had to amazing, original and something she could keep forever.
He had walked into the last store of the street. A supermarket. He wandered round and then he realised the perfect gift!
He picked up and bought all he needed and quickly left. And then he returned to school.
I know that she'll love it
He saw Franziska at the door and she seemed very surprised by the amount of bags Edgeworth was holding.
She herslef was holding a gift. Wrapped in pink paper with a bow on the top,
"Here," she said handing out the gift to Edgeworth but to her dismay he pushed it away.
"Don't give it to me now, wait until afterschool. I have a treat for you!" said Edgeworth. The bel rung and the two of them went off to their last lesson. Happy as can be..
Franziska went to her classroom and place Edgeworth's present on her desk.
"So, who is this for?" said one girl - the one from earlier.
"None of your business!" replied Franziska.
"Tell me!" said one girl and then she quickly picked up the box and waved it in the air, "or I won't give it back!"
"I'm not going to tell you! And you are going to give it back!" cried Franziska as she stood up. She was a lot taller than the other girl. "Give it!"
"Or else what?" said the girl.
"Last chance!" said Franziska.
"Just tell me!" she replied. Franziska then left the room for a moment and then soon returned.
"Hello, please give that back to my sister." said a even taller girl. Franziska's sister. Tall and strong. She walked over to the little girl. That girl dropped Franziska's present and ran. Ran to the other side of the room. Unfortunately Franziska's gift fell out of it's box. "Franny, why are you giving someone that?" she asked holding it up in front of Franziska.
"It is perfect for him and suits him perfectly!" cried Franziska, she grabbed it off her sister and reurned it to the box. "Anyway, thank you. Thank you sis."
"No problem" replied Franziska's sister. "I'm always here for you, ok?"
"Promise?" asked Franziska.
"I promise." she replied. And then she left.
Edgeworth went to his seat. Dumped hid carrier bags on the floor and place on his desk the lovely box of heart-shaped chocolates from Franziska. He looked at all the different chocolates. White, dark and milk. Caramel, fruit and nut. He didn't know where to start. But suddenly someone took one, and another person took one. But before he knew it they were all nearly gone!
Edgeworth looked up. The three boys from earlier were scoffing their faces with his chocolates!
"Oi! They're mine. Why did you start eating them?" Edgeworth demanded an answer.
"Well, they're not yours. No one would give you Valentine's chocolates!" snorted one boy, spitting chocolate at Edgeworth's face. Then they began to look through Edgeworth's carrier bags. Making Edgeworth angry. I have to show them, that they can't mess with me. Miles Edgeworth
Edgeworth stood. Went over to one of the three boys and punched him in the face! He kicked the other! And then elbowed the third!
People began to gather round and chant "Fight! Fight! Fight!" they cried as through Edgeworth's anger he began to hit them more. By the time the teacher stopped them, the three boys had cuts and bruises. Edgeworth picked up all his stuff and was sent out to "calm down"
There! They'll never mess with me! They deserved it. They ate Franziska's heart-shaped chocolates she gave me. And going through my stuff. Edgeworth stood out there for the rest of the day. Until the bell went.
Fortunately for Edgeworth the principal wasn't in so he didn't get in trouble or else the school would have to talk to Manfred Von Karma.
The bell went and Franziska met Edgeworth at the front door. She noticed there was a cut on Edgeworth's face. What has he been up to?
"What happened?" She asked and then she got a tissue out and wiped the blood away.
"Some boys in my class, they stole and ate the chocolates you gave me," replied Edgeworth who looked glum.
"Cheer up!" said Franziska, "so then, what's this treat?" Edgeworth's face lit up.
"Come with me." said Edgeworth and led Franziska somewhere.
I wonder where he's taking me. Oh! I can't wait and then I can give him his gift once I recieve the gift from him.
They headed off and soon arrived at a lovely park, with a lake and some wood. It was so peacful and nice.
They went to the lakeside. what a beautiful view
Good she's smiling Edgeworth pulled out from one of the carrier bags a very large blanket for them to sit on and some food and drink and chocolates.
"I present you with a picnic at the lakeside," said Edgeworth smiling at Franziska who smiled back.
"Thank you so much for the gift." replied Franziska, "it's the best gift I could ask for!"
"And this," he pulled out a very small box and opened it, the piece of jewelery glittered in the sunlight. Franziska was shocked.
"This is for me?" asked Franziska taking it out and looking at it.
"Yes." replied Edgeworth, "do you accept?"
"Yes," Franziska gave Edgeworth a big hug, "could you help me put it on?"
"Of course." replied Edgeworth. "I'm glad you love it. Once I saw these earings they match you perfectly. Though I had to get money out of account to get it."
He helped her put on the earings. Then Franziska got out her gift. She took it out and showed it to him.
"A bib?" asked Edgeworth, but Franziska just laughed.
"No! A cravat, just like fathers. It'll suit you perfectly!" replied Franziska. Edgeworth put it on and then saw a stranger walk pass.
"Excuse me!" cried Edgeworth, making the stranger look, "yes you! Could you do me a favour?"
"Um, of course." replied the stranger. "What is it?"
Edgewprth reched into his carrier bag and pulled out a camera. "Take a picture of me and Franziska. Please?" He handed the stranger the camera who agreed to this. He sat down on the blanket, put his arm round Franziska and smiled.
"I love you" said Edgeworth,
"What?" Franziska said, who hadn't heard.
"I said say cheese!" replied Edgeworth confused with that small outburst. The stranger took the photo and returned the camera. "I'll keep this photo."
"But I want it!" cried Franziska. "Please?"
"I'll give it to you if I ever leave so you can always remember me."
"Like you going to leave me!" The two of them laughed. And chat and ate and drank until it was time to go home.
"This has been the greatest Valentine's day ever!" said Franziska.
"Yes it has," replied Edgeworth putting his arm round her.
I will never forget this day Franziska. Because this is the day I think I fell in love with you...
