“Should I? Or shouldn’t I?”

These were the questions that were racing through the mind of Detective Dick Gumshoe on a fateful September morning in the Criminal Affairs sector of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ever since Gumshoe supervised Maggey Byrde, a police officer, the poor detective had been crushing on her, but because of a case, she became a waitress in a French restaurant called Tres Bien. Now the owner of the restaurant was an accomplice to a murderer and loan shark, and had to close shop, so Maggey got her job back a the Police Dept.

“Alright, pal, I’m gonna ask her today no matter what,” Gumshoe convinced himself that he would ask Maggey out on a date. The trouble is he doesn’t know a thing about dates.

Gumshoe thought, “Who can I ask for advice, pal? Mr. Wright and Maya would just laugh at me, Ms. von Karma would think I’m a “foolishly foolish fool”, Mr. Godot would throw coffee at me….Aha! I’ll ask Prosecutor Edgeworth! He knows everything!”

Gumshoe was in luck because Edgeworth came back to the district’s Prosecutors’ Office to get some files for the case that he was working on at the moment.

Gumshoe ran as quick as he could to the Prosecutors’ Office (he was too poor to get a cab and it takes 30 minutes by car). When he got there, he got into the elevator and pressed the 12 button. Then he ran again until he reached the door with the golden plate that read “High Prosecutor’s Office, Room 1202” and knocked.

A voice with a European accent said, “Come in.” When Gumshoe opened the door, a magenta-clad man with a cravat was at the table, sipping his tea. When Edgeworth saw Gumshoe, he said, “Oh, greetings, Detective Gumshoe. It has been a long time since I last saw you. Why exactly are you here, though?”

“Hello to you, too, Mr. Edgeworth. Umm, well, do you perhaps know anything about dating, Mr. Edgeworth, sir?” he said nervously.

Edgeworth replied with a surprised face and a cold stare. Then he fainted.
