T'is my first one on here, y'know. Be gentle. xD And, since I'm not a complete expert on the dates and times an all that, i took an educated guess on how long Edgey was gone for. It was 2 years, right?Phoenix didn't know what emotion to register first. Shock? Hate? Anger? Maybe even...Relief?
The very last person he expected, no, wanted to see was standing before him in the store aisle, oblivious to the blue-suited man.
He, who Phoenix had tried to break through to. He, who never knew that he was the reason Phoenix persevered through to the Bar, through every case brought, no matter how ludicrous. He, who without realising it, shattered Phoenix's heart with a single note
Miles Edgeworth chooses death. The very memory alays makes a ton of lead collapse on his chest, crushing his ability to breathe. It had taken almost a year to make people believe that he'd gotten over it. Almost a year of pitying looks, of faked smiles, of secretly mourning when his office closes and the city lights illuminate his loneliness.
Although supposedly perished, there was no doubt in Phoenix's mind, not about who this man was, back turned towards him.
It has to be Miles, a small voice spoke in the back of Nick's skull.
"Miles." Phoenix said quietly, barely above a whisper. The man before him didn't appear to hear. "Miles." he said once more, louder this time.
Maybe he has earphones in, thought Phoenix.
I'll just give him a tap on the shoulder.Six steps forward, manouver past an old lady, another two steps.
He's certainly taking his time choosing sauces. Phoenix muttered in his head idly,
Wants the best, as always.Tap tap. "Hey, Miles, wha-"
"-Can I help you?"
Phoenix almost choked on his words.
It isn't him. It's not Miles. How can that be?"Can I help you?" The man who wasn't Edgeworth asked again, with a slightly confused look on his face.
"S-sorry. I-I just th-thought you were somebody else." voice trembling out of relief, out of disappointment, Phoenix mentioned his apologies once more before turning his heel and trying his hardest to walk calmly out of the building.
The slam of the office door was only faintly registered in Phoenix's senses. He breathed deeply in shaky breaths as he slid to the floor.
"Goddammit, Wright." He scolded himself in the gloom of blinded windows. "He's dead." Tears welled up in his eyes, threatening to overflow. "But I never got to tell him-" He choked back a sob.
Anothner night of secretly mourning.
"-I never got to tell him...I loved him..."
Aaaand that's all for now. So, how was it? Good? Bad? Worth a punch in the face?
