Summary: Pearl gets a new friend called August! August has special powers! August will help Pearl in her quest for romance! Hoorah!


I shall die for writing horrible fan fiction which partakes in pulling pranks on Phoenix Wright characters and pairings. No worries. Just disregard it and you'll be fine.
My first time writing fan fic. Criticism, suggestions, yoghurt (milky goodness!) and enquiries all welcome.

O.K. Before i continue, i shall confess that i am overly biased towards...what do you all that? An OC? (Yeshh, i sound like a total noob) ....ok I'll call it [the self inserted character]. Why do i say so? Because i am giving her:

1) Teleporting Powers
2) Pyschic Powers
3) Knowledge of everything that happened in Phoenix Wright world until the end of GS2.
4) No mention of how she got the above. mwahahahaha...

Yes, i hate [self inserted character] fics, but this idea somehow sounds good. My writing skills are also very, very bad. Also, I will not mention how she got into a DS game in the first place. Go figure it out yourself . This takes place after GS2 and way before GS3, in Kurain Village. Okies, enuf rambling.

Chapter 1
-----------------------

It was a very early morning day. A tiny hunched figure was squatting beside a small bed staring at the person sleeping inside. The figure slowly reached out her hand and poked the little hump in the bed.

“Ungh?” The hump in the bed moved and Pearl’s head popped out from under the blanket as she sat up, still half-asleep. Then, the realization of a stranger, staring, hit her. “Ummm, are you another fot-o-graff-er?” she asked, remembering Lotta Hart.

“Erm…no…” the tiny figure raised her head. “My name is August.”

“Oh, my name is..” Pearl started to speak but was quickly interrupted by August. “Your name is Pearl.” August happily remarked. “How did you know?” Pearl asked with a mask of confusion set on her face.

It was August’s turn to be confused as well. “…I have no idea. I just…know things.” she replied while sitting down cross-legged. The two children sat beside each other in silence for a moment or so.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone that looks younger than me.” Pearl stated. “Yeah, I’m only six but you’re eight.” August clapped her hands in glee with a big smile on her little face. “That means you have to look after me!”

“Hmmm…want to see Mr. Nick and Maya together?” August suggested with a mischievious look. Without waiting for Pearl’s reply, she suddenly stood up and said, “Of course you do. What a silly question.”

Without warning, she marched over to Maya, who was also sleeping on the edge of her bed in the same room as Pearl. Noticing that Pearl wasn’t following, she ran back and grabbed her hand, dragging her there. “What are you going to do?” Pearl asked her. “This.” August said. “Just watch.”

Pearl looked at Maya puzzledly. Nothing is wrong with Mystic Maya..but why is August concentrating so hard on her? Then a sleeping Mr Nick unexpectedly appeared beside Maya on the floor. As soon as she saw that, Pearl turned to August with an awestruck look and asked, “You can do that?” August grinned and nodded her head.

As August lifed her hands, Mr Nick rose up a few inches from the ground. August did more complicated hand gesture and Mr Nick turned around to face Maya, who was just two centimetres away from him. August lowered her arms and Mr Nick lay on the floor, still snoozing.

“Time to wake them up.” August smirked and prodded both Phoenix and Maya, causing them to slowly open their eyes.

This had me laughing hysterically as I thought about the things that Pearl and August could possibly do. Its pretty good so far, especially considering that this is your first fanfic. I'm looking forward to your next chapter

Chapter 2
-----------------------

August chided over to Pearl and started to count under her breath. “One, two, three…”

“AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” Phoenix and Maya screamed in unison and jolted into sitting up straight as August burst out laughing upon seeing their faces. Pearl, after taking a good look, couldn’t help but join August in her laughter. After about screaming for slightly less than a minute, Phoenix and Maya both knew that they would die of suffocation if they continued to scream any longer.

Then Maya, being the brighter one, turned to face the giggling Pearl and August and realized that this was probably their doing. “Pearl, did you do this?” Maya asked with a “bigger-than-Mt. Everest” hint of irritation. “Ummm…Pearl, who is that girl beside you who is currently laughing her little head off?” Phoenix joined in.

August immediately stopped laughing and walked towards Phoenix. “My name is August.” she said while patting his shoulder, having difficulty reaching it even while Phoenix was in a sitting position. “Did you know? That you scream like a girl?” she asked with a very serious expression.

“How can you scream like that in front of your special someone? In fact, you shouldn’t scream at all.” August continued, doing a perfect Pearl-clasping-her-hands-on-her-cheeks impression.

Pearl, not noticing August’s imitation, nodded her head to show her agreement. She frowned and said, “Mr Nick, you scream just like Maya does! And Maya doesn’t scream like a man.”

“B-but…” Pheonix argued, turning crimson. “No excuses.” August interrupted curtly. Maya, who had been listening to this interesting conversation the entire time, then started to talk. “How did Nick get beside my bed?”

“I transported him here.” August smirked. Suddenly, she started skipping in a circle around Phoenix and Maya, singing “Mr Nick and Maya sitting beside me, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” Pearl, along with Maya and Phoenix, stared at her but for a different reason. “August, what does that spell?” she asked.

“Ask Mystic Maya!” she told Pearl while smiling innocently. “It’s times like these when I hate my life…” Phoenix mumbled. Pearl, forgetting all about her question, immediately stepped up to him and said with a scowl, “But Mystic Maya brightens it up, right? That’s why you keep living.”

“Umm, nononono, it’s not that…” Phoenix started to say. But before he could continue, August smacked him on the head with Maya’s pillow. “Wow, you beat Pearly to it.” Maya uttered. “Pearl! How many times must I tell you that Nick and I aren’t in love!” she wailed.

“Oh, no no. You guys have potential chemistry sparking between each other.” August grinned. “Since when did kids learn stuff so deep?” Phoenix muttered. “Since now.” August replied, whacking his head with the pillow forcefully.

“Ouch!”

“How old are you?” Maya asked, taking a good look at August’s face. “Six.” August directed her attention to Maya and said. “Do you have a problem with that?” she asked innocently. “Erm, no.” Maya answered sheepishly.

Abruptly, August presented some photos and announced, “I took these while you were asleep beside each other.” The group huddled around August’s outstretched arms and took a look. Each photo was angled such that it seemed that Phoenix and Maya were sleeping together and not beside each other.

Phoenix tried snatching the photos in vain but August was already prepared for it and had already slided them into a pouch in front of her shirt. “I could blackmail you if you ever denied that you love Maya ever again.” she beamed.

Chapter 3
-----------------------

Chapter Summary: Edgeworth’s turn. Mwahahahaha.


“Take me to Edgeworth’s office or I will blackmail you too.” August continued. This resulted in Phoenix, Maya, Pearl and August walking to the Prosecutor’s building at 6 in the morning. Along the way, Pearl and August explained about August’s powers and August repeated what she had told Pearl to Phoenix and Maya.

“Well, here we are.” Phoenix mumbled as they reached a tall and very modern-styled building. “You wait for us outside.” August said. Thus, she and Pearl headed towards the Prosecutor’s lobby while Phoenix and Maya discussed on how August took photos without a camera.

“I prepared these especially for this occasion.” August produced a long roll of paper from her shirt pouch although it obviously could not fit in there. “What’s that?” Pearl asked. “You’ll see later.” August replied while darting her eyes around. “What are you looking for?” Pearl asked.

“I’m checking whether there’s anyone here because we are going to teleport into Edgeworth’s office since I know what it looks like (don’t ask me) and if anyone catches us they might arrest us as aliens.” August managed to say in one breath.

The lobby turned into a familiar prosecutor’s office. August started to unroll the roll of paper, gesturing to Pearl to help her. Soon after, the completely unrolled roll of paper revealed itseld to be a long banner.

On the banner written in colorful markers were the words “Edgeworth and Franziska”. Furthermore, the banner had been decorated with many cartoon Edgeworths and Franziskas with countless hearts.

August grabbed one end of the banner and climbed up Edgeworth’s bookcase ladder. She got some blu-tack from her pouch and plastered the corner of the banner to the wall above the bookcase. Then, she made some gestures, taking another blu-tack out. The blu-tack rose in the air along with the other corner of the banner and plastered itself to the other wall.

“I should have done that earlier.” August complained to herself.

She led Pearl to under the desk and crouched there with her. “Wait for Edgeworth. I want to see his face.” she smiled as she pictured the scene. “However, I am quite upset about the high possibility of Edgeworth destroying my beautiful banner.” she added sadly.
“At least we get to see Edgeworth’s face. That’s priceless and probably worth it.” Pearl attempted to comfort August with kind words. August then smiled again and nodded in silent agreement.

The two watched the door for who knows how long until it finally gave a creak and slowly opened.

Dun dun dun.... You had me laughing out loud yet again. Well done.

Chapter 4
-----------------------

“Detective Gumshoe! Why did you not check for fingerprints on the murder weapon when I told you to? I could have won that case straightaway had you not forgotten about that!” a haughty voice made its way to August’s and Pearl’s lousy hiding spot.

“I am very disappointed with you. I am afraid that your pay will be in danger of being cut down further if you forget again. This is your last warning.” the voice continued. By now, the door was fully open, and the voice revealed itself to belong to Edgeworth with his back facing the door.

“I’m so sorry sir. I won’t forget ag- hey, since when did you redecorate?” Detective Gumshoe gawked at the cartoon banners. Edgeworth, upon noticing the detective’s mouth hanging open since he never listened to Gumshoe’s excuses and did not notice his last statement, turned around to face the room and stared.

August sniggered and clamped her hand over Pearl’s mouth as soon as she noticed Pearl’s signs of inability to control her laughter. After her symptoms ceased as Edgeworth brought his jaw back up, August released her palm.

Suddenly, Pearl heard a few clicking noises and turned to face August. “…Why do you have Lotta’s new camera with you?” she pointed at the shiny black beauty that August was holding. “I can’t take photos without a camera, can I? This one works perfectly. In addition, it’s instant!” August replied as she took the photos that were shooted out from a slit in the camera.

Quickly sliding the photos into her pouch, she tapped Pearl, who was gaping at the camera, and pointed at Edgeworth. “Is it just me, or is that so ‘Aha aha aha aha aha aha’?” she imitated Moe.

Pearl started to giggle when she had a look at Edgeworth. He was gritting his teeth and his eyes were shadowed with anger. Pearl could even feel the waves of frustration pouring from him.

“Well, I didn’t know you could draw so well sir.” Gumshoe commented and noting that Edgeworth was about to explode in any minute, quickly scurried away. “Bye Mr Scruffy.” Pearl whispered. August just looked aggravated and said to Pearl, “I drew that, not Edgeworth! Give me the credit instead!”

ChopperCrow: We now turn to the Edgeworth point of view.

Meanwhile, Edgeworth was trying to figure out who had stuck the banners to the wall. His logic was that only someone who would know both Edgeworth and Franziska better than the public would do this.

Gumshoe wouldn’t dare to do this unless he wants to risk his paycheck. Someone in the prosecutor department wouldn’t dare to do this either. Larry is too busy with his girlfriends to draw stupid banners…Pearl won’t even think of this. Edgeworth’s thoughts turned to Wright and evaluated him. He would love to pull a joke on me…But Wright draws like crap. These ridiculous drawings are actually drawn well…Maya can draw though. Maybe they teamed up?

Deciding that Phoenix and Maya were his only lead, with a shout of “Wright, you idiot!”, he thrashed through the doorway intending to drive straight to Phoenix’s office.

ChopperCrow: Welcome back to Pearl’s and August’s mindsets.

“Oh dear, what if he spots Phoenix and Maya outside?” August thought out loud. “Oh well, at least he forgot about the banners.” She carefully removed them from the wall with her ability and rolled the banner up, stuffing it back into her pouch.

“Should we try to warn them before Mr Edgeworth catches them?” Pearl asked. “Mr Nick and Mystic Maya will do just fine.” August told Pearl with a firm nod. “Now let’s get back.” She headed to the corridor, pulling Pearl with her.

ChopperCrow: The Mr Nick and Maya point of view now.

On the other hand, Phoenix and Maya were standing outside arguing about the blackmail photos and the “nonexistent” camera. Just then, a sleek red sports car pulled up beside them.

: Ok ok, stop hitting me already...Welcome to the Phoenix Wright Olympics Round 1! I shall be your general announcer and host for this particular event!

*reader sees a large field with markings on the ground and all the olympic equipment*

: I see the reader is puzzled by where all the olympic equipment and the field came from. Let ChopperCrow explain.

ChopperCrow: I swiped them from Gant while he was in prison. Who knew he had so much stuff in his gym! There was even a swimming pool there!

*reader is unsurprised*

: All righty then, let Officer Marshall announce the details of Round 1! I gotta act cute for the fans to feed me kibble now~

: For round 1, we shall be having these usual and unusual events!

1) 300 metres dash
2) Discus throwing
3) Lifting super-heavy weights
4) Swimming
5) 300 metre bull riding race

: Will all the rustlers line up according to which event the cowboy or cowgirl is takin' part in!

*a short while later*

: We now proceed to the 300 metre dash! Contestants Gumshoe, Max, Larry and Wellington please get ready!

: Eh? How did i even get here?

Chapter 5
-----------------------

Chapter Summary: A very very short chapter about a very very horrible crime. ;)

“Isn’t that Edgeworth’s car?” Maya pointed at the bright red sportscar. “Who cares…We’ve been waiting here for ages and I’m tired of standing here…” Phoenix muttered.

Expectedly, Edgeworth got out of the car and unexpectedly asked Phoenix, “Did you put up the banners in my office?!” Startled, Phoenix asked, “What banners?” Seeing Phoenix’s baffled expression, Edgeworth sighed and told him, “Some moron put banners up in my office suggesting that me and Franziska…” He stopped and would not say anymore.

“Oh! I get it!” Maya exclaimed. “Well, what makes you think it’s us?”

“Huh? Huh? Huh?” a bewildered Phoenix asked. “What’s happening?”

“Well, for starters, Wright here would probably like to get a joke on me.” Edgeworth explained. Phoenix continued his “Huh?”ing.

“Erm…right.” Maya said awkwardly.

ChopperCrow: On to Pearl and August now

Pearl and August tip-toed to Edgeworth’s sportscar, unnoticed by Phoenix, Maya and Edgeworth. “Follow me, I got an idea.” August had said.

Now, she went to the boot and opened it, grabbing the toolbox. She heaved it to the driver’s seat and placed it firmly on the comfy cushioning. “There.” August nodded her head in approval of her work.

“Get into the passenger seat.” she whispered to Pearl. “What are we doing?” Pearl asked August while climbing into the car. “Driving this car.” August replied, sitting on the toolbox.

Pearl’s stricken expression was truly laughable. However, August held the serious expression on her face. “Buckle up.” She told Pearl.

Suddenly, Pearl yelled, “We’re going to drive this car?!”

Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth turned around to see two children in a bright red sportscar.

“Oops, sorry.” Pearl apologized. “SUPER FLASHY SPORTSCAR!” August shouted wildly and turned the keys. Then, she used her powers to press the pedals and off they went, leaving behind a puff of dust, two gaping attorneys and a spirit medium.

The moment was too good to waste and August didn’t let the opportunity slip by. She took out Lotta’s camera, turned around and snapped a photo.

i've got 80+ views but nobody ever puts a REview...oh, excluding Phantom Phoenix. Thanks!

Chapter 6
-----------------------

“I didn’t know you could drive.” Pearl told August as they whizzed through the streets, having not even come close to crashing anything. “I mean, you’re younger than me but you can easily avoid all the road signs, other cars and pedestrians.” Pearl looked at August in admiration.

“Umm…huh? Aren’t you supposed to hit something?” August stared at Pearl with a mask of total confusion. At this, Pearl examined her face to see if she was serious, resulting in her sighing and saying, “No. You’re not supposed to hit anything.”

August was then left mumbling something about video games and bonus points.

In the meantime, the three favorite characters were left standing at the pavement.
“Noo…” Edgeworth sobbed. After Maya had recovered from the shock, curiosity grasped her and she ended up posing a question. “Hey, Edgeworth. The other time, there was a dead body found in your car but you didn’t look upset at all…Why are you so distressed now?”

“I left Mr Stuffykins in this car..!”

There was a minute of silence as Phoenix and Maya stared at Edgeworth with worry gnawing deep in their bellys.

“Erm..Edgeworth…you keep a…?” Phoenix started to ask, but before he could finish he was interrupted by Maya’s outburst.

“Hey Nick! Shouldn’t we be more worried about those two?!” Maya shouted and flailed her arms around as she ran after them. Upon hearing Maya’s words, Phoenix sighed in resentment and ran after her. There weren’t any crashes yet, so August must know how to steer a car somehow…besides, August could use her abilities to get them out of trouble anyway…Wait, what am I thnking? These are two young children………who don’t know any better than to steal a car………
Phoenix grabbed Edgeworth’s arm and pounded after Maya. “C’mon Edgeworth, aren’t you worried about that Stuffy thing of yours?”

Determination flashed in Edgeworth’s eyes, and before anyone could react, he rushed off with a yell of “I’ll save you, Mr Stuffykins!” Phoenix gaped after Edgeworth with a blank expression on his face.

ChopperCrow: Back to August and Pearl.

“August, they’re running after us.” Pearl pointed behind her worriedly. “Hey, we have a sportscar, they have only their weak legs.” August pointed out sensibly. “They couldn’t possibly.. Maya?!”

A puffing Maya was catching up to them and shouting, “What do you think you’re doing?” August was mildly surprised but did not hesitate in replying. “We’re doing what we look like we’re doing, driving a beautiful sportscar.”

“You two are in big trouble!” Maya started turning red, from exhaustation or anger, nobody knows. “We have blackmail photos.” August retorted coolly. “You mean the photos of Mr Nick and Maya sleeping together? I forgot to ask if I could have one too!” Pearl commented while giddy with excitement of siting in a racing sportscar.

“Sure.” August tossed a photo into Pearl’s lap. After a moment, they wondered why Maya wasn’t shouting at them anymore and turned their heads to the pavement. “Ahhh! Mystic Maya is dead!” Pearl wailed. August looked slightly shocked but pulled up beside the pavement and got out. Similarily, Pearl followed and ran over to Mystic Maya’s side.
Maya was lying slumped on a wall. “Mystic Maaayaaaaaaa!” Pearl cried while she was kneeling down to get a better look and not noticing any signs of life. (Hey wait, doesn’t this sound so déjà vu…? Oh ya, Turnabout Sisters…)

Phoenix and Edgeworth had nearly caught up to them. Then suddenly, “Gotcha!” Maya reached out as quick as a striking snake and caught both August and Pearl. “Yay! Maya’s not dead!” Pearl happily said and snuggled up to Maya. August couldn’t help but giggle as well, copying Pearl hugging Maya.

Edgeworth had gotten there and immediately ran over to his sportscar. Soon after, Phoenix caught up and wheezed, “Hey, how come I don’t get a hug too…?”

“Don’t complain Nick!” Maya puffed. “I’m so beat…let’s go eat at the burger joint!”

yaaaaaay! chapter 7!! Hoo-hah! ...Sometimes I think my chapters are too short that's why i make them so quick.... oh well no use bumbling. Hey even Phantom Phoenix got scared away by my avatar...wow.

Chapter 7
-----------------------

“Puff…pant..here we are!” Phoenix gasped for breath as he feeblely pointed to a small bar in front of them. “I want a hamburger!!!~” Maya raced straight into the little shop shouting.

“I want the fer-reyes!” Pearl ran after Maya. (That’s “fries” to people having difficulties translating this rubbish.) “I just want a soda pop.” August said, literally dragging Phoenix along with her. “Mr. Nick, you gotta have lunch with your special someone. Come with me now.”

“Soda. Soda. Soda. Soda. Soda.” August chanted excitedly while the others looked at her strangely. When their food was brought to them, everyone tucked in immediately.

“Are you sure you only want a soda pop?” Maya speaked to August after chewing. “Yep.” August grinned and drank everything in one go. “Wow you sure can drink…” Maya stared at her, forgetting all about her hamburger for a moment only. Then, she remembered and continued eating.

Phoenix was sharing a big order of fries with Pearl. “Want a fer-reye?” Pearl handed a frie to August. August smiled and shaked her head. “Wow, I’ve never seen anyone so…un-hungry before. Unlike you-know-who.” Phoenix said. “Ahem..Maya..cough..” he hinted.

Pearl and August burst out in laughter. The waiter looked at them with a small smile. The tiny restaurant had a slight gloomy atmosphere to it as the only customers they had were Phoenix and company. The dingy room with its old floorboards and mostly dusty tables were long forgotten after the big-shot fastfood restaurants opened. Laughter was very out of place to the waiter.

“Here.” August held out a photo of Edgeworth and Gumshoe gawping at the banners that she had taken earlier. “Pfffttt….HAHAHAHAHAHAHA….” Phoenix and Maya tried to stifle their laughter in vain. “You should have seen it for real!” Pearl told them happily. “I’d have loved to!” Phoenix managed to gasp out between his laughing.

August slid the photo back into her pouch pocket. She smirked and said with malice, “Blackmail for Mr Edgeworth.” Upon hearing it, Phoenix and Maya abruptedly ended their laughter out of shock. “My acting is wonderful!” August giggled, which brought Phoenix and Maya back into good spirits.

Suddenly, Maya asked Phoenix worriedly, “Don’t you have a case in two days time?” Phoenix looked at her with a blatant expression then the realizations truck him. “Ahhh…crap.” Pearl glanced fearfully at August. “Oh no it looks like Mr Nick is in troub..AUGUST?!”

Phoenix and Maya turned around to join Pearl to gawk at August and her 37 empty soda pop cups. “Erm…” August looked at the gang apologectically. “You secretly ordered 36 more soda pops?!” Pearl, Maya and Phoenix screamed in unison.

“Hey no worries.” August pulled out a posh wallet from her pocket-pouch and took out a handful of bills, handing them to the waiter. “Wow…I didn’t know you were rich.” Phoenix muttered. “I’m not. This is Mr Edgeworth’s wallet.” August heard and replied.

“You nicked Mr Edgeworth’s wallet?!” Maya, Pearl and Phoenix screamed yet again. “So? I bet he still hasn’t noticed.” August shrugged.

ChopperCrow: Meanwhile…

Edgeworth had placed Mr Stuffykins on the passenger seat while he was driving back home. “I’m so sorry Mr Stuffykins, I’ll never leave you alone again. You know I’ll even give up the twenty thousand pounds in my wallet for you. Except I don’t have to, which is the good thing.” He whistled a merry tune as they headed back home. (I bet you’re going “EDGEWORTH CAN WHISTLE?!”)


ChopperCrow: Oh, ultra important newsflash. All the olympic games are going to end in this topic now. Anyone who would like to read them please access my other topic "Phoenix Wright Olympics (blah blah cant remember what I wrote here, etc)". Event 3 has been posted there! Check it out.

Chapter 8

“Mr Edgeworth has a lot of money inside!” Pearl peered over August shoulder. “Nice!” August happily exclaimed. “Edgeworth is going to kill you when he finds out.” Phoenix pointed out anxiously.

“But, I didn’t do it.” August’s face transformed into a picture of complete innocence, leaving Maya and Phoenix dumbfounded. “Teach me how you do that!” Pearl said. “I need to use that when I steal Mystic Maya’s cup noodles!”

“Pearl!” Maya cried. August and Pearl giggled in unison. Suddenly, August yelled, “SUGARRR RUSH!!!” She zipped around everywhere in the little burger bar and appeared back at her seat. “When I drink too many soda pops, I get a sugar rush.” August explained as she noticed Phoenix, Maya and Pearl gaping at her. “I think the word for me now is ‘hyper-active’.” August continued.

“You can say that again.” Phoenix stated awkwardly. “Didn’t you say you have a case coming up soon?” August said. “I could be a good help to you right now.” Phoenix thought for a second and nodded his head. “Yeah…I need help investigating the Argurmy Shopping Complex, which is the scene of the crime.”

“Oooh, blood, look! Lotsa blood.” August goggled at a piece of glass. “Where did you get that?!” Phoenix yelled. “From the crime scene. Duh.” August explained. “Did you teleport?” Phoenix questioned. “I can only teleport a few times more for today before I’m flat out! I’m not wasting that on the crime scene!” August exclaimed. “I ran there!”

“The Argurmy Shopping Complex is 3 km away!” Phoenix screamed. “Weren’t you listening? I told you I could be very hyper-active now.” August tutted, leaving Phoenix speechless.

For a split second, August disappeared again, then reappeared with a dented wooden plank soaked in blood. “Blood!” August said feverishly. Pearl paled. “That’s a lot of blood…” Phoenix removed the plank from August’s hands. “I think we should check out the crime scene ourselves as well.” He told Maya and Pearl.

A few hours later, Phoenix, Maya, Pearl and of course, August, arrived at the Argurmy Shopping Complex. “Mr Scruffy Detective!” Pearl and August greeted Detective Gumshoe with much enthusiasm.

“Hey, Pearl. Who’s the other little fellow?” Gumshoe asked. “I’m August!” August said cheerfully. “Here let me show you this. It’s a real gun..” Gumshoe handed a revolver to August.

“Detective Gumshoe! Don’t show that dangerous thing to little children! We only want to investigate the crime scene!” Phoenix exclaimed.

Unfortunately, it was too late. “Wooohooo!” August swung the revolver around wildly and randomly shot. However, fortunately, all of her shots were directed to the sky.

“Luckily August is a bad shot.” Maya whispered to Phoenix after everyone had recovered from shock. “I heard that.” August glared. Out of the blue, a flock of dead ducks fell out of the sky and onto Phoenix and Maya. “I’m not a bad shot.” August grinned.

August= FUNNIEST OC EVER!

This is sheer brilliance.

Ok. Maybe I made a little error about the time Chapter 9 is coming. But hey, I'm taking out special time during my major examinations to write this!

Chapter 9
-----------------------

"Pfffft." Phoenix muttered under his breath as he brushed off the duck feathers stuck to his arms. Pearl was holding back tears as she mumbled something about the "poor duckies" as she hugged Maya's leg. "Awww..." Maya sighed as she looked at the lifeless ducks laying on the ground around them. August hastily stuffed the revolver into her pouch and smiled faintly. "Duckies aren't dead. Just momentarily stunned. They'll wake up soon."

An audible quack of agreement was heard as some of the supposedly dead ducks flapped their wings and got to their feet, still looking slightly shaky. A few seconds later, the ducks took flight in a swarm of feathers while Phoenix attempted to get the second batch of feathers off himself. "Yay! The duckies are still alive!" Pearl and Maya yelled in unison as they rejoiced by flinging their arms up into the air.

The trio was suddenly distracted by a loud cheering. "Woooooo!" August screamed joyfully as she spun and spun and spun and spun. "Revolving doors are such fun!" Gumshoe gave his sheepish smile and commented, "I used to like doing that when I was a kid." Pearl ran towards August and joined her when a gap appeared in the revolving doors. "Weeeeeeeee!" the pair shrieked hysterically. Maya apparently could not resist the temptation and loped to the doors, leaving a severely discouraged Phoenix and an awkwardly smiling Gumshoe.

"The Argurmy Shopping Complexe's revolving doors appear to be a makeshift merry-go-round." Phoenix remarked. He and Gumshoe continued to witness the two children and one childish sort-of-adult spin the revolving doors, running around in circles. "Hey! You!" A random police officer approached the laughing spinners. Unfortunately, due to the rapidly revolving doors, he was buffeted away in an instant. "Uh oh." Both Gumshoe and Phoenix said. The detective of the two quickly rushed up to help his fellow policeman.

"Hey, if the entrance is so fun, what about the inside?" August asked as she darted into the Argurmy Shopping Complex, followed by Pearl and Maya as they marvelled at the large and deserted shopping mall. Phoenix, fearing for the worst, waited for a full three minutes before the revolving doors stopped revolving and stepped into the Shopping Complex. "And the best thing is that Mr Scruffy completely forgot about this revolver!" he heard August say as a few drastic crashes followed.

Chapter 10
-----------------------

Phoenix squeezed his eyes shut and slowly opened them, surveying the scene before him. An eyebrow twitched in disbelief as he stared at Maya, Pearl and August frolicking amidst the astounding mess before him. "Two shelves of glass bottles of wine fell over during the murder. I can't even tell where the murder actually happened now."

A total of twenty-seven shelves worth of items had been upset, their contents toppled on the once-clean marble floor. Packets of milk in their white and creamy puddles, pieces of something ceramic, broken bottles of juice, dented steel pots and pans, half-eaten potato chips and even the whole knife section littered the once-clean marble flooring.

"Yes. I am an innocent passer-by who happened to witness three loonatics, one with a gun, course through the Argurmy Shopping Complex. I am of no relation to them and am neither capable nor responsible for footing the bill of all the broken items. The end." Phoenix recited as he inhaled deeply and made his way through the dangerous battlezone.

"Niiiiick!" Maya called from in front of him, waving wildly. August and Pearl popped out from behind her. "We found the spot where the murder took place!" Pearl said. August gave him a big smile and continued happily, "Yeah! And this time, the red stuff on the ground was real blood and not the part of the eighty-nine bottles of ketchup that we knocked over!"

The three flashed him innocent smiles and disappeared behind a strange stack of cans. Suddenly, a hand appeared and placed a couple of tin cans on the stack, followed by two other pairs of hands which did the same. "What are you doing now?" Phoenix yelled, immediately realising who the owners of the hands were. "We're building the biggest and bestest tin tower ever!" Pearl replied enthusiastically. "Then we're gonna topple it over and see where the cans roll to, then do it all over again!" August added as Maya nodded, clearly agreeing. With determined frowns, they went back to work.

"Hey! What in the world happened?" Detective Gumshoe and four surprised policemen came through the revolving doors. Phoenix flashed them a sheepish grin and answered, "Ah. When I came in, it was already like this. The victim must have struggled a lot, ehehehehe..." Detective Gumshoe and company did not look amused, doubtful expressions portrayed on their faces.

"One, two, three, heave!" Maya, Pearl and August deftly shoved the towering stack of tin cans as Phoenix noticed their actions and stepped aside neatly. The cans dropped to the ground with a deafening crash as they started rolling swiftly, only to meet five obstructions - four nameless ones and a Detective Gumshoe. As the lot got buried under the tin cans, Phoenix, Maya, Pearl and August fled through the Argurmy Shopping Complex revolving doors.
