Here's some links to a few shorts I've done for the gyakuten100 LiveJournal community. I'll edit new ones into here to avoid spamming for such short stories. They're all under 500 words, variety of genres/subjects.

High and Dry
400 words, challenge word - "sacrifice". This is set 2 months after PW:T&T and so contains minor spoilers for GS4, but only in regard to Phoenix's situation and a couple of localised names. No spoilers for T&T. Miles/Phoenix. Caution for swearing. Angst.

Disinheritance
100 words, challenge word - "motivation". No spoilers. Drama. Mia.

Let It Snow
400 words, challenge word - "youth". No spoilers, no caution. Humour. Miles + Phoenix.

Insomnia
200 words, challenge word - "dreams". No spoilers. Miles/Phoenix. Angst.

Enjoy! :redd: (And come and join the community if you fancy it too - it's fun and good writing practice)!
==
I'm editing this to include some links to short stories that I have posted up on LiveJournal in response to the current (Nov 2007) Phoenix Wright Anonymous Kink Meme rather than make a new thread. These were a bit of fun, fluff and a writing exercise for me. I've posted links to the ones I admitted to and reposted elsewhere on LJ.

Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down!
Rated PG, despite how the title sounds and then only for themes mentioned! Word count: 799. Fun with Miles and Phoenix caricatures (and restraints)! No spoilers.

Some Things Never Get Old
Rated PG for themes only. Word count: 1152. Tooth-rotting fluff featuring older versions of Miles and Phoenix. Very minor spoilers (names mentioned) for GS4.

Funny Business
Rated 15 or "R" for the colonials as there is some sexual activity and slash. Word count: 1555. Original prompt: "Phoenix/Miles - massage". No spoilers.

Cuckoo
Rated PG for themes. Word count 1190. Manfred Von Karma reflects on a decade of raising Miles Edgeworth. Spoilers for PW:AA "Turnabout Goodbyes". Warning for Northanger Abbey-ness! :redd:

All The Right Notes
Rated PG for themes. Word count 2586. Phoenix/Miles friendship piece centering around an impromptu piano lesson shortly after 2:4. Awkwardness and snark abound. No spoilers.

The Master of Eastlaw Part One
Rated PG for themes. Word Count 1999. Phoenix/Miles Victorian AU with Miles as the son of a nobleman and Phoenix as the super-hot stablehand. Written in parody of Victorian novels for amusement and laffs. No spoilers. Part Two is in progress with another writer. No spoilers.

21/11 So I PHAIL at avoiding the Phoenix Wright Anonymous Kink Meme. Two more stories archived 11/20 for your perusal should you wish to be alternately amused or slightly depressed.

Do You Come Here Often? (PG for themes, comedy) - 873 words. When Miles has too much to drink, his conversation takes a sharp left-turn for the bizarre. Very silly drunken humour, just a bit of fun written late at night. No spoilers.

Echoes From The Past (PG for themes, drama, some angst) - 2318 words. New attorney Apollo Justice finds memorabilia from Phoenix's past in the Wright and Co. Offices. Will they tell him something he didn't know about his mentor? Follows themes from High and Dry. Minor spoilers for GS4 (names mentioned and Phoenix's situation).

23/11 ANNNND two more just archived at my own LJ for now until I decide if I'll put them anywhere else.

Scream Quietly (PG for themes, drama, very angst) - 596 words. Between GS3 and GS4 Phoenix has to deal with the changes in his life. Follows themes from High and Dry. Minor spoilers for GS4 (Phoenix's situation).

In Between Days (PG for themes, drama, angst) - 1519 words. Over a year after the end of GS3, Edgeworth is still dealing with the changes in his life. Follows themes from High and Dry and Echoes From The Past. Minor spoilers for GS4 (Phoenix's situation).

25/11 One more oddity that I wrote as a bit of a test case to see if my style is easily spotted even when disguised and used in the most unlikely story to attract me ever in the world of PW. Answer? Yes it is. I PHAIL AT ANONYMITY.

2-11 (PG for themes, drama, angst and A BIG ASS WARNING FOR CHARACTER DEATH). 1490 words. Requester of the story wished either Miles or Phoenix to die in the arms of the other. So yeah. That's what happens here - be warned.

7/12 Fluff, fluff, fluff and dark, dark, dark. That's the conundrum for the day.

Rainy Days and Rainbows (PG at the most and only then for implied P/E. It's all very fluffy and sweet so no warnings). 1017 words. A rainy day at the Police Department brings back a memory from Phoenix's childhood. I was semi-drunk when I wrote this so apologies for lack of coherent structure.

I also put another story up yesterday that I'm not linking to from here as it's dark, dark, dark and NC-17, much like the first one I wrote for the meme which is also not linked from here. All fics are in my LJ if anyone has a burning desire to seek them out but please pay heed to the ratings and specific warnings if you do. Ta!

10/12 More Fluffiness With a Side Helping of Emo

Eye of the Beholder (PG at the most and only for themes). 1194 words. Back in Europe between 2:4 and 3:5, Miles Edgeworth considers how his relationship with Phoenix Wright has undergone an unexpected metamorphosis. No specific spoilers for any games.

02/01 Humour and Fluff for New Year!
Sweet Revenge (PG13 for phallic, um, fruit). 1786 words. Requester wanted a fic where Phoenix eats phallic fruit to embarrass Edgeworth, so that's what she got XD. No specific spoilers for any games. Just a bit of fun written while enjoying a beverage or two, or three, on NY Eve.

04/01 Drama and Angst for New Year (because you knew it had to happen!)
Brother, My Cup Is Empty (PG13 for swearing only). 4654 words. Requester wanted a fic where a drunk and angsty Edgeworth and a caring but awkward Phoenix encounter each other on a cold evening. Spoilers for PW:AA 1:4. This is an AU fic set a month after 1:4 that assumes Edgeworth never had to leave a suicide note after 1:5. This is a friendship fic, not a romance.

18/01 Drama, sex and romance.
Roses In December (NOTE: Rated 15 or R for the colonials as there is slash and sexual content throughout). 3199 words. Requester wanted "Miles Edgeworth having sex for the first time on Von Karma's bed. Bonus points ... if Miles is still a teen." I think the request says it all really. More teh pretty than teh hawt, because that's how I roll.

18/01 Angst.
Remembrances (Rated PG). 402 words. Requester's prompt was "And then Phoenix was a hobo". No spoilers other than what's in the prompt. Warning! Contains dystopian future!

27/01 Angst (no, really!)

The Fourth Man (Rated PG) 470 words. Written for the Gyakuten100 weekly challenge. Challenge word: "Red". Spoilers for 1:2, no caution. Miles Edgeworth still has nightmares about that case...

30/01 Drama

Hands Clean (Rated PG13-bordering-on-R) 1190 words. Written for the PW Anoymous Kink Meme. Requester wanted a consensual Manfred Von Karma and Miles Edgeworth based on the Alanis Morissette song "Hands Clean". Spoilers for 1:4, caution for non-explicit slash but questionable pairing (obviously).

08/02 Angstlilicious Drabble Time!

Happy New Year (rated PG). 228 words. Written for the Gyakuten100 weekly challenge. Challenge word: "Explosions". Spoilers for 1:4. Old school angst, because it's my favourite kind!

Don't get too excited, I'm still learning how to pace and write the shorter pieces! It's a real challenge working to a word restriction plus a deadline and I always see things I could have done better every time I look back at them.

I envy the way that you can get your point across in so little words. I would have done Disinheritance in about 2000 words >< And it would be all senseless blabber.

You should come along to LJ and join up - it's the only way I could have been persuaded to try writing shorts :)

Oh God, the last thing I needed to do this morning was arrive to class as a blubbering mess. Thanks a lot. =P

I loved them all, but High and Dry was my favorite just because it was the most powerful of the four.

And kudos to you for taking on these challenges. I've attempted them before (different fandom, though) and I'm... I could be better. I could be a lot better. I wish I could be as good as you are. It didn't even occur to me that any of those drabbles were timed challenges; I thought they were just... random drabbles that you'd decided to write. I don't think they don't look rushed or mispaced at all.

Er, yeah. That one is a bit angst-heavy. Sorry about that. I did actually get a bit moist-eyed writing it and I was at work at the time on lunch break so ... yeah. I actually lost it a bit earlier than you at the bit about hearing his voice. :sadshoe: It was really difficult writing Phoenix intentionally exploiting Edgeworth's inability to communicate his feelings.

Anyway - thanks for the kind words. I think it's a really useful thing for me to do as it's helping to teach me brevity and the power of words.

Okay, I read all of them except for High and Dry since I'm avoiding GS4 spoilers. (sort of.) (although I'm sure of what they are.)

I LOVED Let It Snow. It was the most adorable thing and although I would originally have thought Edgeworth shoving snow down someone's back to be OOC, you make it sound perfectly like his natural instinct. He's a very competitive character after all, and he'd always want to outsmart Nick, and his comment about running fast enough at the end was PERFECT.

Insomnia was a cute little thought. I really liked how he was simply observing, and relaxing for a change while still pondering what's going on.

<33 I'll have to check out live journal.

I don't think there's anything in H&D that I haven't seen talked about fairly openly in regard to Phoenix. I haven't played GS4 myself remember as I don't speak Japanese :) If I ever get round to the post GS4 story I have in mind I'll have to find a beta who has!

I loved writing Let It Snow, it was really late at night and I'd been writing a much more angsty Edgey thingie earlier and his wicked side needed to get out :godot: I giggled the whole time I was editing that down to 400 (and you can tell as I didn't spot the multiple uses of the word "steps").

I want to write minis now...D: I've been adding to Crying in Public and a Fradrian I've been trying to write, but they're both so long that I keep losing intrest. I think the short slips are a great idea since I can get it right out.

Yes, lemme see if I can dig out the rules and post them to the LJ list :)

Ah - here you go - rules are on the User Info page here: http://community.livejournal.com/gyakuten100/profile

Yes you post the story to the list and say whether you're presenting for the prosecution or the defence (pick one to stick with or swing both ways) - if you look back through the posts on there you'll see last weeks. Just ask on list if you have any questions or want to introduce yourself :)

Waah! :sob: "High and Dry" made me cry, seriously. Hey look I rhymed even if I didn't want too. That was so sad. I just wanted to give them both big hugs. Out of all four that one has to be my favorite, very moving and powerful piece. And "Let it Snow" is definitely my second favorite. That was so adorable. Just imagining the two taking a reprieve like that away from court was perfect. You showed the sides of the characters (well, mostly Edgeworth) that we would rarely see. Great job. :edgy:

Thank you :) I wanted to tackle the GS4 continuity at some point ... and I figure the only reason Edgeworth would not be there is if he had been told not to be. So ...

I knew Phoenix had it in him after JFA to do that, but it was still really hard to have him say the words and give up over 15 years of his life after only 2 months of happiness. Trying to be in his head for that was ... very sad.

Description: "Humour with bondage" + Your Do Not Want avatar = LOL!

And then I actually read the story and laughed even harder.

"Some Things Never Get Old" was adorable and more than made up for the spiral of depression I experienced after reading "High and Dry." :P

I kind of skimmed over "Funny Business" because reading foreplay and sex scenes makes me squeamish ( :payne: ), but the bits I did catch were touching. It's nice to see Edgey step up and try to make Nick feel better (for a change).

..."Cuckoo" simply reminds me why I utterly loathe Manfred. I think I mentioned earlier, in another thread, that I loathe Dahlia's manipulative character, but your story reminds me that there is perhaps someone else in the PW universe who may even top her.

Glad it gave you a giggle. It's an old joke, but always a funny one if the characters work with it :) I don't usually write "caricature" M&P but this was begging for it (so to speak) :)

In that case it was worth me fighting through the cheese to write it XD

I understand completely - I find them well-nigh impossible to write - I only took this one on as a bit of a personal challenge but it ended up being quite fun to construct. It's about as kinky as I'm likely to get :)

Yeah I think he really exceeds her to be honest - mainly because he has absolutely no excuse for it whatsoever, really - except pride.

We can look at Dahlia's background and see how she might have been turned into what she was by her upbringing and careless treatment by those who loved her, maybe. Her lack of positive male role models can't have helped and nor can the constant betrayal by those that loved her. It's not an excuse as such but there are at least some extenuating circumstances for the original action, and the ones after stemmed out of a need to cover the first.

Manfred though ... Assuming we can forgive the initial crime as a passionate moment of opportunism, the following and far worse attempted crime is so breathtakingly calculated and at no point necessary. All those years, all that effort, all that time to turn back and behave like a human being. The sheer amount of time devoted to his being such a hands-on git is breathtaking. And all done so emotionlessly - had to have been in order to work. He puts me in mind of the worst kind of cultist, exploiting weakness and human nature quite deliberately and with no conscience. And then not to forget the other victims who were merely used as tools for the main plot and discarded quite coldly.I only really considered the scale of it properly and what effect it would actually have on the victim when writing the fic I currently have in progress and "Cuckoo" one spun out of that and a need to try and get in his head.

I already commented on all of your stories over at livejournal but I must say my favorites would have to be Cuckoo and Some Things Never Get Old.

I always found Von Karma interesting cause I really liked his character but hated him so much at the same time. And the way you wrote him is exactly how I imagined him to be. I especially like the part about Edgeworth not talking about his nightmares, but Von Karma knowing exactly what's going on and fearing it could make his plan fall apart. Oh and the whole "Edgeworth will never be perfect cause he's been corrupted" thing was awesome. Von Karma would so totally think like that and it makes me realize just how awful a person he really was. In fact, I think pretty much everything about your text makes me loathe him even more, but it's a good thing cause it shows how well you portrayed him.

As for Some Things Never Get Old, it was simply adorable :) And Edgeworth's comment about people calling Maya a MILF really cracked me up XD

So yeah, I've been spending way too much time over there but it's so much fun. I don't know how you managed to write that many stories though, I only wrote one and I'm already super late on my work. :yuusaku: Oh well, it was worth it, ahahah.

I really wanted Cuckoo to be longer but to be frank I was starting to get a bit nauseous writing it, so I decided to leave it alone. I think it was about the time when I realised (as I was writing) that he must have had a contingency plan to dispose of Miles in the event of him recovering any memories - because it would be the only sensible thing to consider. On the bright side I now have a clear idea in my head of how it all started which was what I was after for my own selfish purposes - Manfred had been a bit of a mystery to me before.

Glad you liked Some Things. It's just fluff really, but I do like older Phoenix/Miles and I've played around with them before but never actually written anything for public consumption.

I dunno how I have written so many either - only Cuckoo took any real time. The ones above and the MAGATAMA!YIKES one were all quickies of under 2 hours each.

Let It Snow is just begging to be drawn by somebody with... well, more artistic talent than me, that's for sure :D The mental image of Edgeworth's reaction to getting PFFed in the back with a snowball is just.... :edgy:

I would prefer to be able to draw a lot of the stuff I write if that makes sense :?

Updated with two more one-shots written for the Anonymous Kink Meme. *Thrill* to Phoenix trying to teach Edgeworth to play the piano and *laugh* mercilessly at the Victorian AU Phoenix and Miles with repressed passions simmering under tightly buttoned waistcoats!

Mmmmmmm, yes, but not much :) Insomnia has been visiting my house and writing is a helpful crutch. If I'm too tired to work on my main WIP then writing a short story works instead. Plus, I'll only get better by walkin' the walk, not talkin' the talk :)

It's either that or gin.

Hey, look at that. You wrote some more. :redd: *takes a peek* The piano one is just so adorable. And the historical period piece is wonderful. There aren't very many out there that are writing them in the past. I really liked it. Great job.

Hmm, if I have time, I may try and draw out "Let it Snow". Firefury is right, it's begging to get drawn. :edgy:

Thanks Elriel for the wonderful Edgey siggy and the beautiful Phoenix/Edgeworth avy!

I could have commented on these on LJ or elsewhere, but I figured this was the right place.

All of your phoenix/edgeworth fics are amazing. I especially love Funny Business, Some Things Never Get Old, and The Master of Eastlaw.

Funny Business = one of the best PWPs I've read in any fandom.

I can't wait to see more of The Master of Eastlaw -- I hope that the collaboration works out well.

And lastly, I'm looking forward to the Edgeworth WIP that you've been mentioning. Is it P/E from Edgey's POV? If so, I will be forever grateful for it, since I think there's a distinct lack of Edgey angst in P/E fic.

Keep up the great work.

I'm glad you enjoyed them - it's nice to make people smile :) Sorry though that I keep tempting you with scenes you want to draw! RESIST! Heh!

Anywhere is fine, really - it is nice to get feedback for improvement purposes but I don't mind where it is directed :)

Thank you very much - I'm sure you're being too kind, but I do like writing them both a lot - I'm very fond of the characters and they make me smile.

Now I *know* you're being too kind, since there's hardly any P in it! Heh!

I'm sure it will - the anon who is writing it is very good :)

Technically it'll just be Edgeworth, actually, when it ever gets finished *rolls eyes*. I agree about general lack of Edgeworth POV stuff, which is partly why I started it. It's turned into a much more lengthy project than I ever intended and has coincided with a busy period and work and home so it's not progressed as fast as I would like. It will get done though, even if it takes a year - I have a pathological dislike of leaving things unfinished.

Thank you for all your kind words - I'm just glad that I entertain people in some small way - it's nice to know I brought Teh Smiles :)

Ah man. I haven't read them all yet, but High and Dry.. I'm sitting here alone in the house, crying like a baby.

You're so talented.

I still feel bad for that one. I can't even re-read it myself :(

But you know, I really wanted to tackle the GS4 continuity a bit. Other people have explored/are exploring AU post-GS3 far better than I ever could (musouka, aria, croik) and I find working in the canon a real challenge.

I truly could not imagine any reason that E would stay away after what happens to P unless P told him to. But making P be cruel to E was ... actually really painful, soppy as that sounds. I suck. I'm so sentimental.

Thanks for the kind words, even if I depressed you beyond measure!

I want to write depressing fanfiction as well now, but it gets to me how.. how descriptive most of the known PW authors are in English, really. I'm trying to pick up everything I can from books and fanfiction, I'm just not getting anywhere near, and I can't imagine who would like to read the poor grammar of an amateur. XD

How did you start writing? I'm not new to stories at all, but as soon as you do that in another language, all the previous experience doesn't mean anything anymore.

Because of that I've been thinking about starting a collab fic (since I'm far from being a bad writer, I'm just not half as eloquent in English, but I'd give my best) actually. Asking somebody to put up with me though may be a bit too much to begin with, though :P

I noticed that many posters are LJers, but I have a very tight schedule that barely allows me to keep up with one community - CR. Would sign up otherwise :max:

That's what beta readers (editors) are for! I find your grammar on here exceptional though so I don't know that you'll have too much to worry about if I'm honest.

I started writing as a child, actually. I wrote fiction at school and at home until I left University. I always scored high on it in class but I used to write for fun more than anything. Then I just stopped. I dunno why. I had a difficult period of life for a while and I think that killed it. I carried on doing non-fic and I carried on reading (I have always been a voracious reader of all sorts of nonsense from cereal packet backs to newspapers to books to magazines to comics to ... well anything, really).

I only started writing again this past August. What started it again? Three things, really. Playing Phoenix Wright, which I found inspiring in a way that some good books are. Getting on here and finding some fabulous stuff written by other people that reminded me of how much fun I used to find writing. And, uh, this will sound really silly but ... having a sort-of-relationship with someone, back in the past, that didn't end well, and that ended up in 15 years estrangement that I was starting to try and repair around the time that I picked up the fiction pen again. That, quite obviously, made me empathise with certain aspects of some characters and I'm sure aspects of that do filter in to what I write. HIGH AND DRY had a lot of personal stuff attached to it I'm afraid.

Yeah that might be the way to go. I think I might be hell to work with or I would have tried it myself by now :)

I am constantly aspiring to improve and I find that feedback from as many directions as possible is helpful. I get comments from LJ sent to my email to cut down on time I have to spend online.

IT'S SO HARD TO RESIST! I've already started three panels. :april: Trying to make a short version. Don't know when I'll finish, working on multiple projects at the same time, I'm driving myself crazy. :redd: But it's fun. :edgy:

A lovely person on LJ drew me a bit of fanart for the Master Of Eastlaw (a little 2 page comic) so I have started a gallery at work on the wall over my desk. It cheers me up when my nose is to the grindstone.

I'm glad you like it. I've been wanting to draw fanart for a fic for a while but nothing inspired me. But your story did :)

Updated with two more Anonymous Kink Meme stories added 20th November. Yeah, I know. I should be getting on with something else. Don't beat me.

Aha! I was right about Echoes from the Past :edgy:

I have to say that I love your personal cannon -- it's sad and angsty, but has a happy ending. This is the stuff of great fanfic, imho.

Great work as usual <3
