Hey!
So, I wrote a short Christmas fic in Miles's point of view. It contains one 'risky' word, but that's all. (The other word for pee, haha.) I think this might be first in a mini-series of Phoenix Wright Christmas fiction, but I don't know. I would like to see what you guys think. :)

Title: Merry Christmas~ (I might change it later... ;; )
Author: Me~ (little-miss-choco on fanfiction.net)
Rating: T
Genre: General
Status: Complete
Pairing: None
Summary: It's Christmas time again, and Larry's gotten a few things for the one and only grouchy Miles.

***

“Merry Christmas!”

Sigh. It’s that time of year again, huh?

“Humbug.”

I don’t know if I meant that or not – my brain did, but something else quite didn’t.

I was contradicting myself. At least it felt that way – and once more, I was unsure.

…Which was normal.

“Aww, I know you don’t really mean that, Edgey!”

Christmas never failed to make me feel at dis-ease; like the rest of the holidays – I felt confused. I told myself I really shouldn’t be doing this all the time – told myself to stay away.

I told myself to at least seem sane and not foolishly overindulge myself in the ‘spirit of the holidays’ – because there was no point.

I told myself that.

“I’m usually sure of what I say to other people, Larry; especially when it comes to you.”

I lied.

Honestly, though?

I wasn’t sure of anything now– and I haven’t the slightest idea of who or what to blame.

So I took it out on Larry. What would he have gotten me, anyway?

“Don’t be a Christmas Grinch, Edgey. No one likes that. The least you could do is accept my offer! It’ll save your soul!”

What, all of a sudden he’s Father Butz?

With much grumbling, I ‘accepted’ his pathetically wrapped offer. I examined the piece of poor craftsmanship, noting the rather square figure. Great. I wonder, oh, what could it be? A cheesy photograph of Larry, framed in mahogany?

“Go ahead, open it!” Larry pushed on.

Almost reluctantly, I tore it open, and to my surprise –

There it was. A cheesy photograph of Larry, framed in mahogany. But there’s one difference – it’s autographed by the guy himself. Yeah…it was the best present ever. I needed a portrait of you hanging on my wall, after all!

“Wow. It’s exactly what I never wanted.” I told him, cruelly as I could.

“Heh heh. Knowing you, you’ll probably stuff it in your drawer or something. That’s where it’s meant to go.” Larry chuckled, looking triumphant.

I hate him for being right.

A –And what did he mean by ‘that’s where it’s meant to go’ – outrageous! I have different drawers for different things. One is for semi-important-items, the second is for things-that-may-be-worth-my-time, and the third is things-you’ve-gotten-but-don’t-genuinely-give-a-flying-fop-about!

Just for that, I’ll put it somewhere else – in my fireplace! Yes! Miles, you’ve done it yet again. He’ll think it’s in your drawer, yet you’ll know it’s burning comfortably away in a safe place. It’s a win-win situation.

“Oh, I got you something else, in case you felt you were being neglected by me.” Larry added, quite confidently. I had to scoff – actually, if he pretended I didn’t exist, I would be a hundred-percent certain that I’d be much, much more healthier.

But I went on. “And what’s that? A copy in case I purposely break the first one?” Hmm, that’s delightful. More fire wood.

Larry laughed again. It seems my sarcasm didn’t have any affect on him anymore. Well, that’s… boring. It was pleasant in a way, but … boring.

“No, no, no – that’s a good idea, but no. Here, seriously – take it.”

Was it me, or did Larry sound sincere there?

I went through the same process again and found it to be –

… a dog leash. A pink dog leash.

“…What?”

“It’s for your dog. Piss.”

“Pess.”

“Yeah, Pess – that’s what I meant.”

Despite his irritating blunder, I had to say – I felt…thankful.

I definitely hadn’t expected this.

“…T—Thanks, Larry. That’s, um…nice of you. I think Pess will adapt to it quite quickly.” I told him – meaning everything I said.

I did this time.

…Maybe 'friends' really do belong in that second drawer…
