The PW fandom is growing steadily, and the amount of fanfic available is also. However, how much of that fic is good fic? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's clicked on a fic somewhere and cringed at the OOCness or Phoenix's name being consistently spelled as Pheonix. As people are looking for ways of passing the time until Trials and Tribulations comes out, and Croik is looking for new fics to put up on Court Records, I thought maybe a thread like this would be a good idea so people looking for something to read can come here and find something recommended to them. It would also bring together in one place the well-written fics that are scattered across Court Records, ff.net, adultff.net and Livejournal.

Copy and paste this to complete your rec:

Title: [Title]
Author: [Writer]
Categories: [See Rules for list]
Location: [LINK] [Source (LJ, CR, FF.net, etc)]
Summary: [Synopsis - keep it short and don't spoil the ending!]
Reason For Rec: [Say why you enjoyed it and why other people should read it!]
Literary Score: [Degree of spelling/grammatical accuracy (as some people don't mind reading fics with spelling/grammar errors if they're well written) - 1 = Few errors, 2 = Some errors, 3 = Many errors]

Sooo, here are the rules:

1. Do not post unless you're recommending a fic.

Ideally a person who feels like reading should be able to come here and just see post after post with recs, rather than "that fic is great, I read that too *end post*". You can comment on a fic recced above you if you're reccing one yourself, but don't post without purpose.

2. Do not rec a fic unless you have read it yourself.

A recommendation is a personal one. Don't put up a fic because your friend wrote it - you must have read it and enjoyed it yourself!

3. LABEL SPOILERS

It might be the greatest fic in the world, but if it spoilers a case there will be people who will want to avoid it. Please respect that and label the game/case the fic is set before/during/after.

4. Do not rec your own fics.

It's a little harsh, I know, but it stops the small contingent of people who recommend their own Mary Sues. If your fic is as good as you believe it to be then there will be somebody else out there who has read it and will rec it.

5. Categorise your rec as much as possible.

Some people are very picky about what they will read. Categorising your rec helps them decide if they want to read it. Categories are as follows (and you can make up your own):

[quote=Categories]Gen (Fics without pairings - if you have to say "x/x if you squint", then put it under gen.)

Slash (For the sake of definition, this applies to all pairings, same-sex or het. ALWAYS LABEL SLASH.)
-PWP (If your rec is slash, apply this - No plot, just pairings)
-Romance (If your rec is slash, apply this - Anything up to kissing)
-Romance+ (If your rec is slash, apply this - Anything beyond romance and up to NC-17/18+)
-Explicit Content (If your rec is slash, apply this - NC-17/18+ and beyond)

Comedy/Crack
Angst
Drama (seriousness without angst)
Epic (looong fic)
Light reading (anything that's not epic or drabble)
Drabble (little fic - 500 words or less)
Canon (Only use this label if your fic is set strictly within the game storylines. This label is for people who hate anything that's AU - the idea being they can read anything they want that's labelled Canon, and then other people who aren't bothered about the concept can just read as they please.)[/quote]

Uhhh, I think that's everything... please be nice to each other! Looking forward to seeing what people recommend ^_^
