still? Is it the hair or the facial features?

Facial features. It still kinds of looks like Trucy.

I think using trucy's parts to make an older pearl it's what makes her a plucy.
I think that she shouldn't have trucy's hair.

More importantly, the buttons are on the wrong side. We can clearly see that the right side of the jacket overlaps the left side, yet the left side holds the buttons; if the buttons were being used to hold the jacket closed, they would be on side of the jacket overlapping the other. Also, the pockets aren't in the same place on either side. One is near the navel, the other near the hip. The same goes for the vertical creases next to the pockets.

The variance in the width of the outline is also an issue, especially on the shoulders. It's thick and jagged on top, but thin and smooth on the arms. Some of the outlines, especially on the chin, have inappropriate right angles in them. The shading is also a bit off... It starts at the very tops of the shoulders, yet on the body it doesn't start until the abdomen. The lower pockets don't match the shading around them, either.

Finally, the sprite just feels lacking. It's fine if this is a Grossberg-caliber character, but your average prosecutor or witness has a fair amount of flair, or at least something that makes them stand out.

Oh, and another thing I forgot... If you really want those four buttons to stay, make sure that they all fit on the part of the jacket that overlaps the other side. Since, y'know, that's how buttons work.

Post subject:  Re: Defencelawyers Sprites

I'd say move the buttons and overlapping section of the jacket to the left more, so that you can also move the pockets... Shade the collar of the jacket, clean up the collar of the shirt...

Stylistically, I have no idea. You could give him shoulder guards and medals pinned to his shirt, turn him into a navy hero... Heh. Sorry, I really don't know.

Probably because you used the brush or C&P some parts. on PNG those are transparent
Example:

Spoiler: PNG & GIF
ImageImage

To solve that, I recommend that you make the BG transparent and open it on paint, all the white bits will shpw up.

hmm... i've tried that, and that's how the PNG one is so clear.

Post subject:  Re: Defencelawyers Sprites

That's bizarre... I've never seen anything like that. What did you mean about the PNG coming out clear? Were the white bits there while you made the sprite? Give me a file with the sprites used in the animation and I'll see what happens when I animate them. Also, a bit of a critique... his blinking animation is scary. Why does his cheek move up to meet his eyelid?

Okay, let's have a look...

...Yeah, it's the program you're using. I use Animation Shop 3. If you're wondering why his jaw isn't moving much, it's probably because I didn't use all of the frames provided.

edit: Wow, six minutes from your post to mine... Looks like I checked the board at just the right time!

There's been something bothering about this one though. :yuusaku:
I think it's because the buttons on his jacket are too...straight? Usually buttons like those are at the front of the torso, not at the side like they are currently on the sprite. They need to be angled a little more.
That and his back is too straight. He's supposed to be on the chubbier side, right? His back needs to have more...fat applied to it. A little but more round.
With how it looks now, to seems like his body is shaped oddly. :think-pw:

I hope you don't mind the critique...:nick-sweat:

Regardless, awesome sprites! Keep up the good work! :pearly:
