Ohh, I love vectors, but I posted how to make a raster one in Gimp once, lemme go find it....

Step 1: Get your Text tool, Georgia Bold, and type "A", then on a new layer "ce", then on a new layer another "A", and then of course "ttorney". Make the letter spacing fairly tight,

Step 2: Arrange then with the "ce" slightly higher than it would be normally against the first "A", and the second "A" below the end of the first A. Put "ttorney" as high as possible next to the second A.

Step 3: Merge all those layers (Right click on the layer > Merge Down), lock the Alpha of it (The little check box above the layers dialogue) and put a gradient on it with the gradient tool.

Step 4: Put two layers under it, "White" and "Black". Right click on the text layer, click "Alpha to Selection" and go Select>Grow in the menu bar, growing it by an amount that looks right (It depends in the canvas size). Go onto the "White" layer and fill.

Step 5: Go select>Grow again, this time by a little more. Go onto the black layer and fill with black.

Step 6: Paste in your objection sprite/art/Whatever. Resize to the right size and move to the right place. Put the layer above "Black". It doesn't matter if it looks blurry and horrible.

Step 7: Use the Path tool to draw around the outside of the sprite/art/whatever. This can take a while to get used to, but take your time.

Step 8: Make a new layer above your objection sprite thing called "Silhouette Outline". Open up the paths dialogue of it isn't already open. (Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Paths) If you selected a different tool and your path disappeared, double click the one path in the dialogue and it should come back. Set your Foreground colour to black. At the bottom of the dialogue, there should a be a little button with a paintbrush and some lines on it. When you hover over it, it says something like "stroke path". Click it, and a window should pop up. Set the stroke size to the same width as the black outline and click okay. You should have a black outline around your Objection person thing!.

Step Nine: Select your Objection Sprite Thing layer and select "Colour > Colourise". Slide the "Lightness" slider up to the top, so it goes totally white, and click OK.

Step Ten: Finally, if anything doesn't look right, touch it up with a white brush or the eraser. It should be done!.

Thanks for the help, both of you! Because of you, I now have an amazing logo for the comic and it actually looks like an actual AA logo. Now, without further ado, I'd say it's time I kill all the mystery and reveal the name of the project...

Image

Therefore, the first 'official character announcement' (man, that sounds cool) is...
Image
Character's Name: Miles Master / Matsuro Karoujite (待郎 倒次手)
Age: 24
Occupation: Manual Laborer/Defense Attorney
Brief Personality Description: Though he is very smart, he lacks the willpower to be an effective attorney and doubts himself despite his success, and thus thinks a bit too long on things that seem even a tad off. As a matter of fact, he hasn’t won a case in his three years as a lawyer, but has been within a hair’s breadth every single time for this very reason.

He has a very good sense of logic and will usually be the first to point out odd things about people.

Lol, I've just been spriting and doing graphical work a long time, I've picked up some information XD.

Though I have used proper Photoshop, what, once? I can't afford it, but I find Gimp fits my needs for the most part. I just fiddle with it all the time, you figure out a hell of a lot XD.

I update, with the prosecutor's profile as well.
Spoiler: Why is his name pun cooler than Miles'?
Character's Name: Cyrus Cipher / Sen Akukoro (悪頃 戦)
Age: 27

Occupation: Prosecutor

Brief Physical Description: Long, stringy, black hair covering his right eye and left ear cut across his neck line. Wears a black suit with a vest and bow tie. Pale skin and black eyes. Has grown a goatee.

Brief Personality Description: Values money above all else, even justice, and trusts absolutely nobody, or so it would seem. He believes that the only absolute way to live life is to lead yourself and never rely on anybody else. In his seven years of prosecution, he has won 97 trials and lost three and rumor has it he falsifies evidence, which he has not denied.

As for the sprites... First, a Cipher pose.

A PROSECUTOR? That has to THINK? Blasphemy!

Next, my first (two) tries at TWEWY style.

Isn't [alpha to selection] > [selection to path] a whole bunch easier?

Yes, but if you resized a sprite it'll be all wobbly.

That depends. If you use "cubic" to resize it, all the irregularities will be washed away because [selection to path] is too lazy to do details. Using no rescale thinghy, I haven't tried.

Ah, I was unaware of that.

Still, I like tracing, as you can exaggerate prominent features :P

Well since we're working with paths anyways, you can still edit as you wish later. But it kind of saves you a lot of work.

Wow, it's been over a month. Well, I have a couple good reasons for that one. First off, it's summer and I'm lazy. Spent my time playing Dragon Quest and stuff.

Second... Well, there's no hype over this project. I have no motivation to get it done and thus have no ideas on making a colorful cast of witnesses and fun cases. So far I have... Just about the first case ALMOST done, plot wise. Not even a shred of script, though.

I have the first *ahem* 'witness', though he seems to be a bit of a... Pushover.
Image
He is Mr. Joey Verre, also known as the boxer 'Glass Joey.'

...I think it's funny.
