DefenceLawyer, I just wanna say that I've sort of just WATCHED your sprites over the last year while I've lurked on these forums, and you've made one of the most dramatic improvements I've ever seen, given the quality when you started. Good job man, it's good to see an improvement. :)

the first one is pretty easy to tell its percei's design of his older gumshoe
the godot is Ceres'es GS4 godot
and the finally kristoph...not sure but is that Glace Leau's kristophs head with a different body?

it looks to me like you tried to use them and made bad edits out of um :P

nope, they are 100% mine, the gumshoe one was simply:

parts:
GK Gumshoe head; Tigre arm; grossberg suit; gant arm;

colours:
phoenix; gumshoe;

and the godot one is just klavier and godot, i did not mean to make it similar to ceres', the design must have just been in my head, as for the gumshoe one, most of it was all my idea, but percei gave me the idea for the under coat and the gant arm.

and kristoph gavin was completly mine, I didn't even know that glace leu had made a made a gavin attorney.

EDIT:
I am here with proof!

It's not the issue that you made them yourself, it's the fact that your "ideas" look remarkably similar to the ones of other spriters, an that you tried to pull them off on your own by doing the same construction.

I mean look at my sprite look at yours, it's extremely obvious you just took my idea and executed it horribly, especially since the post date of my gumshoe is before your's.

I don't think this exactly qualifies as sprite theft, but it annoys me that you can't come up with your own ideas.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with you. His sprite looks NOTHING like yours. The only similarities is their position and the idea for the undercoat. Other than that, they have no other similarities other than being the same character. Most older versions of characters are bound to look somewhat alike for obvious reasons, and you should know that. I recommend that you back off, because there's nothing to support your case. Though, I do have to admit the Godot one is a bit too similar to be a coincidence, but as he said, he must have just had the sprite stuck in the back of his mind and didn't realize that's where he got the idea from. Either way, the effort of making the sprite is 100% his and there's nothing you can do about it. Oh, and take back what you said about his sprite being horrible. I think it's really well made, but you're just too pissed off to even think about anyone else.

Post subject:  Re: Defencelawyers Sprites

well it doesnt have to look 100 similar
(any sprite could be changed to a variable degree to look different)
to have such similarities at all is what bugs me...that's why I said what I said
im not the type to convict a person of sprite theft (well unless 100% certain)
but curiosity still makes me ask and say what I think.

anyways defencelawyer again im not accusing you of anything but do be careful because having a sprite that is similar enough to another persons can get you in these type of situations.

Anyway, no-one is actually accusing him of stealing, people are just a bit miffed because it seems, like Percei said, he can't come up with his own ideas. But that's not so bad really :yogi:

They're nicely made though :grossburg:

Ok, ok, I apoligise, I did not and I repeat DID NOT mean to steal any ideas, I wouldn't steal things without premission, I'm just awfully forgetful, so for that I apoligise Percei, and you too Ceres, I hope you all find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Trey and use more parts from sprites and less freedrawing, as that's not your strong suit.

And on the detective you have far too many shades on the jacket and it doesn't match AA shading. It looks almost as if you smudged them in GIMP or Photoshop.

Hmm.... I see what you mean, I'll limit the jacket to four colours.

EDIT:
Ok, I took your advice and limited it, does the cravat look better or the tie?

It should be fine, the admins are cool here. If it helps my friend, I could update this thing so it may not count as a necro...

Or request it for this post to be deleted. I'm not sure yet. Will decide in a couple of days.

I've been thinking of making a sprite thread recently anyway, with the sprites I use in the Robert Civil comic.

Though I might ask for this to be deleted in order to make a new one. This post is over six years old, after all. I was only a kid when these sprites were made.

We'll have to see.
