Welcome to CR! Your sprites are looking good! Just fix up the colouring of your outlines. (Too dark around the face/hands, and not dark enough for the suit.)
But that's an easy fix!

Not a bad first sprite by any means, but he could use some touch-ups.
Ropfa's nitpicky but well-intentioned advice:

As said, the outlines could use a bit of work. Some parts of the suit aren't well-defined enough.

For shading, it's rather the opposite. His suit looks fine, while the tones on his face could benefit from being more differentiated.

On the sprite with the paper, the paper needs some shading.

A few sprites could use some more anti-aliasing. There are some ares where the lines look very jagged and could be smoothed out, so that they look like actual lines, rather than individual pixels. Specifically, the area where his neck meets his collar.

There are a few poses where his mouth is drawn with a very light color. You should make it more consistent, so that it matches the tone of those with a darker hue. Look at the headshake animation, for instance. One some frames, you can see his mouth clearly and on others you can barely tell it's there.

In the final pose, his face doesn't look the same shape as it does in the others. His chin and jaw are a lot smaller.

I think he meant the one in your post where he's holding onto the paper. Your avatar looks nice too! A great GK sprite! Those are harder to edit as opposed to the originals.

Also with the colours, I changed them a little just to show you what I meant:

Wait a minute.... Does that mean I have to change the color of my main character in GK form?

Or is it fine as it is? :eh?:

That one looks fine (I quite like the design as a whole!). Only you did the opposite with the shading on the suit, and made it a bit too contrasting. It's up to you if you want to fix it. :maya:

Yeah, I want my character to kind of match with GK.

I'll be right on it. Starting now.

Well, now the problem is that the outlines are too dark. Not too hard of a fix I suppose?

Ah, I use photoshop for sprite editing. If you use it as well, I can PM you some tips on how to use the program if you'd like?

Those suit colors are really really off. Like seriously, they hurt my eyes, and it looks like you got the shading backwards.

Oh, hai.

I didn't actually make that; I think I found it somewhere on AAO.

If you want to put your pictures inside the spoiler boxes, they need to go between the brackets. So between the opening
and the finishing one [/].
Like this.[/spoiIer]

The new character doesn't look too bad for a custom sprite. But you've used a lot of "pillow shading" on his suit (actually, reverse pillow shading, from the looks of it). Shading isn't just putting a lighter or darker color around the border. Body parts bend in different ways, so the light will hit them differently. Imagine a big light shining on him and how the shadows would be created as a result. Check some of the canon sprites, then compare the shading to Justin.

That looks much better with the suit's shading. Spriting is difficult to master (I'm far from it :acro: ). However always keep in mind that the official sprites were large drawn, anime style poses, downscaled to initially fit a GBA. So outlines are always more defined than you think. (Always make the exterior outlines a little darker than you think they should be. Including hair outlines, and head. Look at my first OC, and you'll see I've made the same mistake.)

Also, never use pure black (Which is Hex #000000 or RBG, 0,0,0 the darkest I've seen any AA sprite go is RBG 6,6,6 so a dark grey is darkest.) RBG is the darkness of Red, Blue and Green. So 0,0,0 means no red, no blue, no green. White is the opposite, which is 255,255,255 or #ffffff in hexidecimal colours. (Not sure what colour system your editor uses.)

That one still looks good as is! I made one of my own, using that one you made as a base. Can I share it here? (I don't think mine's any better, I just used the judge's bench from the AAI courtroom.)

You don't need to ask permission, of course you can share it here, I don't mine.

And plus, we don't know if mines better or yours is better once we see it. :hobohodo:

Hmm... I found where it was posted:http://seiga.nicovideo.jp/seiga/im1039475
My Japanese isn't really that good but in this passage here:
Quote:
こちらsm14026003に使われてたり、使われてなかったり、別所に使われてたりしたキャラ画像の原画になります

And this phrase 「使われてなかったり」I think means "Couldn't be used". I don't know what that last part says fully, but then is says something about "Other places can be used... ".
Hopefully someone more fluent in Japanese can help us out...

The quote that you gave me said this:

"It will be the original of the character image or is used here sm14026003, you can not been used, or were used to Bessho"

Edit: I have a question:

Who or what is Bessho?

If anybody could help us, please, don't hesitate to replay.

So, the sm14026003 is just a video.

"Bessho" is just a misreading of probably "別の所"(べつのところ)Which means "Other place".
I don't trust Google Translate, I'm only going by the Japanese I know from study.
