It all started when I looked at

Sorry, but that's really all they are. If you actually changed the person's hairstyle, it'd work as a "hairswap," but recolours don't quite count. ):
And I don't know the exact palettes for each character, but are you using the Eyedropper tool? I'm assuming you're using Paint, and therefore have access to the Eyedropper. Click a colour with it and you'll be able to use that instead of making your own palette.

Um, I'm actually using photofiltre, which also has the Eyedropper.
...which I'm using.
And real hairswaps- as in, copy hair, paste on head- those are just too lazy to look good, in my opinion.
