Okay, so I'm spriting a character of mine in PW style. A girl 16 years old. I've got the body and design down, but I don't know who to use for her face.

Now, I consider myself a fairly adept spriter. This is my first time in PW style, but I think I'm doing well for a first-timer. I could probably take a face and modify it so that it doesn't look like I just recoloured the whole thing, but I don't know which face to use (and again, whether or not I could edit it successfully is all theoretical).

I was thinking of using one of the following:
-Dahlia/Iris
-Mia
-Maya
-Adrian
-Lotta
-Ini
-Regina
-Ema
-Viola

Anyone have a suggestion as to who I should use as a base? Just for head shape, not hair.

That sounds like a terrible character.

This should actually go in the present evidence board, with all the fan art and stuff. There is a sub-section with spriting I believe.

Can somebody this please?

Editing existing sprites can work pretty well, just grab the one with the most similar hairstyle (as that's probably the hardest to do) and work from there.

Check my avatar. If you can't recognize it (which is, in a way, a good thing) it's based off Adrian's sprite.

Also, I don't quite get the point of that list of characters you're thinking of basing it off. That's more or less every young female character from PW1-3 except Maggey, Penny and Lana. (I probably missed a couple more). You should try and cut down to fewer than that before asking for help choosing... do some of them not have the shape of the face you like? Or completely wrong hair? Do keep in mind you can copy/paste features such as eyes, nose and mouth from other sprites. The one in my avatar uses Matt Engarde's eyes, for example.

i will choose Ema as the base, or Adrian, you like. The shape of their face are similar. The only difference is adrian's more sharper (I dunno how to describe the jaws-_-)
