How do you get images from the games?

There was a topic about this lower down, but the question never got answered and it's locked for some reason, (too much CAPSLOCK?) so I'd like to ask again - just how do you get the sprites from the games? Screencap from an emulator? Or is there another way?

Cap every frame of an animation, throw it into ImageReady, and voila, you've got a GIF.

OK, next question - what emulator would you recommend? I've tried Ideas, but I can't get rid of the black background and that's not great for turning them into gifs.

Ok I'm a little confused. What do you want to rip that isn't already on the site? :s

Anyway you have to manually remove the backgrounds.

I wish to rip another game. Namely, Trauma Center. Sprites aren't available for it online as far as I can see, so when I was making icons from the PW sprites here, I suddenly thought "hey, I should just do it myself."

Plus it's always useful to know these things. If this site ever crashes and my hard drive erupts into flames and I lose all the sprites, I know how to make them myself.

IT WAS ANSWERED IN THE OTHER TOPIC ACTUALLY. USE IDEAS AND DISABLE/ENABLE THE DIFFERENT LAYERS. TO REMOVE THE BLACK BACKGROUND USE AN IMAGE EDITING PROGRAM THAT WILL MAKE IT TRANSPARENT.

If you don't know how to hack roms (not many people do as far as I know...) the best way to cap sprites is to play the game on an emulator and take screenshots, using the animget program linked above. Then you edit the frames together in a graphics program like Photoshop or GIMP or whatever people are using these days.

It's against forum rules to hand out ROMS or emulators here. But you can read up on sprite capping at any sprite site, including Sprite Database.

Though you might want to try getting in contact with Mikker, because I'm pretty sure he capped some Trauma Center sprites already...

In any case, this isn't a sprite help forum, so this thread is getting locked. But that's pretty much all the information we can give you on sprite ripping anyway.
