I'm trying out editing a sprite for the first time using a picture of Mia. Everything went fine when I started changing the color of her hair from brown to black, but when I tried changing her eyes to blue, I got grey. I tried using red and got brown again. Every other bright color I've tried since has either been shown as brown, black, grey, and in one case a very interesting shade of pink. I've done everything I can think of to fix it (including exiting out, reopening Paint, and starting with the eyes first), but nothing's working. Does anybody know what I can do? :yuusaku:
You expect the culprit to be the least suspicous person, but the culprit expects you to think that way. Or do you expect him to expect your expectation?

It was so unexpected, I should have expected it.

You can try making her eyes white and then putting the color you want. I dunno if you did that yet or not.

Nope. I just tried that and it still didn't work. But still, thanks. I didn't think about that. ^^

If you're using the sheet from CR to edit, then you could try copying the part you want to recolor, then paste on a new archive. I got that problem with many of CR's sheets...

Thanks! But you see, the sprites of Mia I was using were ones of those in court. This was the sheet I got the sprite from:

As you can see, it wasn't one from CR. Is there a difference in which set I use?

Oh no! Not unless you want to. Besides, I don't think I'll ever learn unless I do it myself. :maya:

I think I might have figured out what the problem is. The colors that Paint is giving me are the ones that are already custom to the Mia sprite. Does anybody know how I can change that?

I've found out how to make her eyes blue in paint. :keiko:

First open up the sprite of mia and use the tool in the right hand corner to draw a box around it.

Next copy the box and paste it into a new clear document.

Then hey presto you can colour the sprite however you like.

Hope this helps :edgy:

Yaay! Thank you so much! (By the way, I like like the edit you did with your avatar. :keiko: )

Actually... there's an easier way.

File -> Save As
Be sure to select 24-bit Bitmap or PNG as your save format.
You may have to close and reopen the file after that.

It's a problem with the GIF format, not with CR's sprites or paint. (well, kind of Paint's problem, as it doesn't deal with it very well unlike most programs)

You can now edit however you like.
