So I've seen a lot of good sprites around, and I wanted to try it myself.
These are my first tries, and I guess they're alright. These are pretty much OC'S for a possible sprite comic. (If I get the time to make more characters and stuff.) Just to let you know none of these are final drafts. I plan to do some more shading and such with them. All of these were made in MS Paint.

Spoiler: OC Naomi
Image

(I used young Mia, trimming the hair and changing the eye color plus some other things. Naomi is a defense lawyer, and loves the color purple. I didn't want to change the color of the suit, but I think it turned out alright. Gotta fix the last one though. xD)

Spoiler: OC Naomi as a child
Image
(Used Pearly Fey with this one. I need to shade this one better.)

Spoiler: OC Kami
Image
(I couldn't think of a better name, so I left it as Kami. I love her expressions, but it was a pain do edit the mouths. I tried to do her full-body, but I need to shade it more and fix the legs. She's also going to be the partner of Naomi in the sprite comic.)

Any tips or comments would be greatly appreciated!
I will update as soon as I make some more OC'S and such.
My hands are killing right now, though. :larry:

Ohnoohnoohno, please tell me you have these sheets saved as something other than jpeg on your computer and just uploaded a jpeg version. ;-; Although jpeg is a common file format, its primary function is to be a compression method, so every time you save these sheets you've posted, you'll be constantly losing quality--something that wreaks absolute havoc on pixel art. D:

When working with pixel art (esp. when working with paint), make sure make sure that you save your "working files" as either .bmp (lossless) or .png (lossless compression) to make sure that your pixels stay where you put them, and stay the right colors! Trying to recreate pixels after saving as jpeg is an absolute nightmare. ;-; Ouiiin~

That being said, a few comments:

I like your OC Naomi. Although it's definately based off of Mia, the hairstyle you gave her is quite a fresh look, I think. I can see very obviously that you are using the line tool-- unless something is meant to be straight, the line tool makes things look very blocky. There IS however, something called the bezier tool, which I think you can make very good use of! :3

To use the bezier tool, click on the vaguely s-shaped tool to the right of the line tool. This is the bezier tool (well duh) and you can use it to create beautiful, beautiful curves! :D You can use this to (for example) make Naomi's headband follow more the curve of her head and make her shirt and choker took a little less "tilted". If you're really slick, you could even have Kami's checkerboard pattern follow the contours of her body! (But that's really tough, so work with the little things on Naomi first).

Ok, as for how to use the bezier tool: click on the "starting point" of your curve and continue to hold down the button! The first step of drawing a bezier is exactly like drawing a line, so "drag" out your bezier to when you want it to end. I decided to draw a headband on Mia as an example, so I dragged my bezier from her ear to just behind her bangs. When you get to your endpoint, release the mouse button, just as if you were drawing a line. BUT! And this is important, DON'T MOVE YOUR CURSOR FROM THAT ENDPOINT! Now, click again EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE!

If you drag the mouse around a bit, you'll find that you are now able to control the curvature of your line. I dragged up and to the left a bit, to get the right shape for the bottom of her headband. When I got the arc I wanted, I released the mouse button, then clicked once more in the same place. This is because bezier curves can be controlled by two different arcs, so if I hadn't gotten the right curve the first time, I could click and drag again to tweak it a little more. Since I got it right, I just clicked again in the same place to avoid making a mistake. (You might want to practice in a blank canvas before trying it on your sprites, so you can experiment what happens when you shape the bezier twice. Also, it isn't really necessary to keep your cursor in the same place for the first curve, but it often makes things simpler.)

Here's an image to show what I did:

Spoiler: kind of big, whoops

As you can see, I made another curve and then colored the space in so you can see the full effect. Pretty neat, yeah?

... Aaaand, that's all I have to say for now. I'm doin' stuff. :x

Edit: Haha woah that image is bigger than I thought, spoiler'd.

Yup. It's just like jeti told...
(Why I imagine bigfoot talking -__-' ...you can throw a rock at me.)

Anyway....I still like them.
That cross looks kinda odd in that pointing thing. Itäs more like a scar,
but you should just little bit edit it. No pig probs. =)
