Wow, this is great!
Seriously, why didn't you post this earlier?!

You seem to master quite a few drawing styles, and I love them all!
Especially Maya dancing in her underwear, that one is awesome! I wonder what music she's listening to ^^

But I also really loved Professor Wright and the Turnabout Court. It must have taken a whole lot of time to make that one, but the result is great! I checked out the original Professor Layton image, and it's just amazing to see how well you are able to put the AJ characters in the Professor Layton style. Again, you really, REALLY impressed me with that one.

About the Alita image, I love the 'sketchy' drawing style you used there. It's easy to see that you are really skilled with a pen tablet. It's quite impressive that you could add shading that image so nicely without using brushes with pressure opacity control. Oh, and I like Alita's clothes too! ^^ And as for the lineart... let's just say that using pink lines is a... creative style ;-)

I think it's quite clear that I really want to see more of your work, and I'm quite sure that I'm not the only one ^^

Oh, one last thing..

Hahahahahahahahaha XD You're such a goof! But thank you, it makes me incredibly happy to know you enjoy my silly doodles. <3

I... I don't know! I figured since they were already posted on my fanart blog, people might think it was overkill if I posted here too. I'm really glad to know it's not. <3

The way I draw does flex a bit. I naturally tend to doodle really cutesy (with "saucer eyes" as my friends put it xD) but sometimes I'll lean back towards my older, slightly more realistic style. It makes me so happy to hear that all the ranges of my style can be enjoyable, though. =)

I've wondered what Maya could be listening to as well! I think all we'll ever know is that it's butt-shakingly good. XD

As for Layton, this was actually a fill for a prompt at the Kink Meme. Someone wanted a crossover, and my original intention was just to draw Apollo and Phoenix. But upon reference hunting I found that huge group pic and knew it had to be done. I actually sat down like a nerd with pen and paper, figuring out beforehand who everyone would translate best as. Then I moved the original image into photoshop and drew/colored what you see here freehand on a new transparent layer. It did take me a few days, but it was a ton of fun since I'm a fan of both games.

The Alita Kristoph one was super quick and messy but fun. I love colors, so I ended up leaving the original crazy pink lineart. xD Oh! And her outfit is actually Mimi's nurse one! I figured since they're both nurses it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume they'd wear similar work garb.

Whew! Thank you for so many incredibly kind comments! It makes me feel so humbled coming from someone whose art I admire, and truly motivated to draw more. ~ <3

Dayum, I like your style XD The Turnabout Court one is excellent! It's got a lovely comicky kind of feel to it, the characterisations are very strong. Kristoph, and LeTouse especially, look hilarious XD Great stuff! Wanna see moar :jake:

*snorts* I'd almost draw it, btu I must draw stuff for upcoming con T.T I'm not fast enough to do both XD

Mind you- Phoenix looks memorised. Maybe Maya stops dancing and finds him dead in the corner, drowned in the corner (from his own drool). Now that's a creepy thought O.O

Ahaha! I've seen those pics before on your blog! XD Good to see it here again! I love the latest addition of Kristoph and Alita! Though I have no idea why they are always paired together. (Is it the latest? D: I've never seen it before...)

And I see poodles and kitties paired off. :D They look good together.

Ah! Poor Maya...D: Phoenix had better not stare too long. ):<

You know, up till now, the one that I love most is the Professor Layton one. It is so cute! (:

You've earned a fan for all of them. XD There isn't anything I can critque, but there is a lot of things that I can praise for your art style.

Ahahahahahahaha! XD You guys are tempting me to sketch a Part II of that dancing one! Someone had requested "Maya shaking her groove thing with Phoenix accidentally walking in", but after all this talk I think "Maya shaking her groove thing with Phoenix joining in" sounds even better. :D

Also! I updated with a huge handful of silly pencil sketches and apologize in advance for the sheer amount of them. Since I tote a sketchbook with me at all times, I tend to doodle infinitely more than I paint or digitally color work. I hope they're still ok here. <3

Yes! I'm so sorry for that! T_T For a few days I'll be playing the catch up game on here since up until now I've just stuck all of my fanart on my sketch blog.

And I know! I'm not sure either, but they're surprisingly a popular request. I can understand a bit easier why people tend to pair Kristoph with Dahlia, and Matt with Alita due to personality similarities... but (just personally speaking) I can't really see Kristoph and Alita tolerating each other much. :o

ALSO. FABULOUS POODLES AND FLUFFY PERSIANS JUST MAKE SENSE. (and thank you so much, that's incredibly kind of you to say. ;A;)

Yahoo! more Leesers art ^^

Oh, I really love the Ema and Klavier in the rain one, it's so cute ^^
And you rock at drawing dancing people! I like the dancing Alita :D It makes me want to draw dancing people too!

It's also nice to see that you can draw the same faces with different styles (for example, the one with Klavier and the one with Klavier and a tamed Ema, if you know what I mean)

I like it that you keep a sketchbook with you at all times, I should do something like that too. I always come up with the best ideas at the strangest places. Then I usually write down that idea on my mobile phone and work it out at home. But it would be great if I could just work out the idea right away ^^

Anyway, please keep on making/posting more :D

NEVER!

It is not spamming when you two are bouncing back and fourth fabulous ideas. >:D I love it. A lot.

YES. In my head, Phoenix was just wearing something comfy and simple, like boxer shorts and a t-shirt while walking past Maya's room- so it would have to be something equally silly he would dance in. Pearls too, because she's that adorable. But she'd have to be in a little nighty or something cute~

And thank you Berendsnor T_T <3 Your comments are always so kind. While I'm actually a huge Apollo fan, I find myself having a soft spot for doodling Klavier. He's just so... "foppish" as one lovely detective would put it. XD Plus, for some odd reason he ever-so-slightly reminds me of Howl (from Howl's Moving Castle; novel and movie), so I always want to draw him with that more angular/ less boyish face.

HELL YES!
Someone REALLY should draw Maya, Nick (and maybe Pearls) dancing in silly clothes! :D
I love Maya in her underwear as you drew her, Arkillian's idea of Phoenix in his boxershorts with a tie around his head is awesome too, and about Pearls...
Hmm, maybe she's just enjoying the fact that 'Mystic Maya' is dancing with her 'special someone', in her little nighty as you suggested. :edgy:
And Phoenix should dance like this: http://humanoid-magpie.deviantart.com/art/Ipod-88004886

Oh, that would be great! ^^

I haven't forgotten about pajama dancin' time either! I'm just so lazy when it comes to scanning my artwork.

Updated with two colored arts!

One for a request of Alita and Olga meeting in jail, where one is pregnant. They wanted "fluff and girly things" to happen (which of course brought to my mind hair brushing). <3

Spoiler: Pregnant Alita and Olga (AJ SPOILER)
Image

The second for a "The Melancholy of Ema Skye" request (the only match up specified was to have Apollo as Kyon; the others I filled in as I felt worked).
Spoiler: Hare Hare Yukai Apollo Justice Style
Image

Thank you THANK YOU to all of you for the kind comments and great ideas ;_; You guys rock.

Who would request such a thing? XD

Anyway, I still like it.
Spoiler: AJ spoiler?
It's actually quite interesting to see that their lives go on after all those murdering cases.

Oh, and I like the pattern you used for the clothes! You don't see clothes being coloured like that very often :)

And the second one, I just love Apollo's and Ema's faces XD
Ema is all like "Hell yeah, I rule them all :D"

Once again, great job!

Alita being pregnant would mean she couldn't get the death penalty... Hmm...

I-I never even thought of that! You're totally right! Why does everyone get the death penalty in the Ace Attorney world anyway? That's something I've always missed. I just can't recall a reason being stated for it in-game and now it makes me wonder why.

Hmmm... the first one is kinda... wierd. Who would request such a thing? XD That would be a *puts on a Halo voice* "Double Kill!!" XD Oh, Leesers, did you make the pattern for the clotes yourself?

You've never been to the Phoenix Wright Kink Meme on Live Journal then, have you? ;D It can be a very strange place XD Because of the very nature of the meme, I'm going to assume the original requester intended for a ~scandalous~ fanfiction or artwork between the two. But they did specify being "girly" and I flat out suck at drawing scandalous things. So I drew being girly in jail instead (hopefully they didn't mind too much).

I did not! I do have a lot of custom brushes I've made over the years (back in college I would scan any old crap I had around in hopes of using it for future illustrations; old paint swatches, paper textures, doodles- brush making is very fun <3) but their prision grab texture was just a google image search for "tweed". xD I brought it in and tinkered with the opacity and I think it ended up being... um um (goes to check) soft light! The layer was set to soft light =)

I even have a custom brush of my signature (one for each year since around 2003) that way I can be extra lazy and not hand sign it every time. |D

Well, Larry kept shouting 'Give me death' or something along those lines in 1-1. Then there's Manfred's death in T&T...

Oh and is there an easier way of placing a texture on a piece of art other than moving it under the lineart and erasing the parts that are excess?

The prison one is so sweet! Poor Alita doesn't look very happy though, she must be getting bad morning sickness :redd:

I'm pretty disappointed that your art isn't awful. Image

But I came in here to do what I came in here to do.

If there's one thing I can pick at, it's that your eyes can get pretty ridiculous. It's one thing to be comical, but at worst they're not proportional; outlandish. Unless you don't post in chronological order (styles can change over time), you don't seem to do them consistently either.

Next time you're drawing something, study a photorealistic or actual human face and think specifically about comically reducing their eyes to simple symbols. Keep in mind that eyes are not straight up circles, they're spheres and skin goes over them. It seems goofy to think about this when you're simplifying the eyes so much, but you'll be surprised at how much better they can end up looking, even comically. A lot of good drawing skills can come not from studying cartoons, but human anatomy.

That's true, very true. I forgot about ol' Manfred!

The way I've always used a texture is to place it on a transparent layer on top of whatever piece I'm working on. Then I'll play with the layer's attributes (soft light, multiply, etc) and go with the effect closest to what I want. Next I'll tinker with the opacity, and finally things like the contrast, hue/saturation and color replacement. I don't seem to really have a set pattern for anything I do, texture wise. :o

As for removing the excess: I'll always sloppily lasso around the majority of what I want to delete, do so, then go in with a brush to clean up the really small parts left close to my lines. It's not too bad, but I don't have too much patience with computer coloring XD

Hahahaha no she doesn't! XD I'd imagine a mixture of that, and "how did I let this happen again?". But she's calm, being hair brushing feels so niiiice ~

Hahahahaha XD You're always more than welcome to come here and criticize my artwork! =) I made it through four years at art college, so I've been well conditioned (read as: mentally broken) to not take critiques personally, but to always try using them for bettering my art. I definitely appreciate you taking the time to type this up; it means you care.

OH GOD. Yes my eyes can get ridiculous! They're like... giant saucers more than half the time. It's a stylistic habit I seemed to have picked up as I gradually leaned towards children's book work during school. They do get downright outlandish; the faster I scribble the bigger they seem to get, actually.

You're certainly right. I feel I was at my drawing peak while still doing figure drawing for six hours a day during class (six hour classes whhhaattt). I've actually been wallowing in a pit of pathetic self pity recently since graduating last year; I find myself not drawing nearly as often, nor being as motivated to do so and I can't understand why. This was a good reminder that I should look into taking a community college figure drawing class this summer just to "get back into shape" so to speak. I miss it.

And no no, they're in order for the most part. My "style" (if that's what you want to call it) fluctuates a lot. My children's work will be HELLOSAUCEREYED and EYEBLINDING colors. The book work (not children's) I've had published has been more towards that Maya and Phoenix piece. And the cycling team jersey design and wedding invitation I was recently commissioned to do is slightly different from both of those still. Between all of these, I think I get sloppy when finally sitting down to "relax" and doodle fan art. So you're absolutely correct about the eyes, there is no out-of-order progression up there. =)

So thank you a ton, I really do appreciate it. Your great critique is something I learned in school but seemed to have either forgotten or just lost the habit of. I'll put a conscious effort into working on making my eyes stylized, yet still believable within the realm of my characters. Thank you again ~ <3

Hmm, more or less the same as I do, but I have to do it with a mouse. :larry:

I've never tried with layer blend modes and image properties... When I try to use a texture, I find that it's 'the one', so I'll keep that piece of advice in mind. As for Color Replacement, I have Photoshop 7.0 so... Quickmask+Soft Light is my way to get around. :gant:

As for making a brush for your sig, I'm currently in the process of doing that. It's a great idea, since I move my actual sig about 99.9% of the time.

Thanks for the tips! Now I need to go to rehab again for my writer's block. :hotti:

... p-possibly? <_< >_> (I feel like I'm a bad kink meme anon for posting my doodles here, and on my fanart blog too). It's just so wonderful for getting ideas when I'm at a complete loss for what to draw.

O-oh no! I can't imagine doing all of that with a mouse. It's true talent when you can become accustomed to working well with one. <3 And blending properties are great when the texture is just a bit too dark/strong/opaque for what you need. I'll usually end up twirking whatever I'm working with. Ah! :D I use 7.0 toooo ~ And here I thought I was the only one rockin' the outdated version XD

Yes! It really comes in handy if you move it around for each pic. I do the same, and I found trying to rescribble it each time was annoying.

And I wish you the best of luck with your writers block! :o I know how incredibly frustrating an artists block can be.

Nah, you're not a bad kink meme anon. ^_^ I post my fics in other places right after I post them on the meme. XD I love the meme though, I'm never at a loss of ideas for fics there. ^_^

I have to say, the "Professor Wright and the Turnabout Court" one is just amazing.

You wouldn't happen to have a high-res version of that picture would you Lessers? I tried using it as a wallpaper, but it's too blurry for 1024x800 screens. :/
