Thanks hon ^^ Perhaps then a better question would be more saturated or not? I don't really want it to be the focus, that's all...

I threw Cottontail and Alexander Kraus together into an advert for perfume. Took me AGES and heaps of research to come up with a correct pose that worked, but here it is!

Thoughts- lipstick mark on Kraus on or off?

That's great! Your style really suits mystery stories perfectly. And I say: lipstick; why not?^^

Do you mean the whole picture in general or just the lipstick? Because I think the whole picture looks good like the way it's now.
Making it more saturated would change the feeling of the picture completely. I'd say the same for the lipstick. I don't think you need to worry
about the lipstick, because the way I see it right now it doesn't stand out much, since it isn't quite saturated itself.
Well that's my opinion and I'm no expert :P

PS: One question did you draw this digitally or traditionally? Coz the line for Cottontail's shoulder seems a bit wacky.^^; Still great art!

I meant making the lipstick more saturated. The picture is meant to be this colour so that it's not a cold black, but a classy black :) I take it as a leave it alone though. Figured as much. It'd pop out too much if I saturated it. ^^;

It's done in both if that makes sense ^^; *takes in a deep breath* Did the line arts by hand, scanned it, turned it into vector to clean up the rough edges, slapped it back in photoshop to neaten the mess live trace makes, printed it, pencil shaded it, the rest is digital. It's a LONG process, but it gives a nice combo of traditional and digital which I like :) Also, I cant stand digital colouring.

That is a good thing since it means that you draw your pictures for the people and care what you draw. A lot artists forget about such thaughts and draw heartless.
But one of the most important thing at art is that you can feel the heart of the artist in the picture, what I definetly do at your art

Well, I strongly believe an artist should draw for themselves, but I'm never sure if my story will be overlooked, cause that's the most important thing to me. The story, and what it all means to me. It's why some people can't take crit. Art is a visual representation of the soul. To insult art, is to personally insult an artist. I also had a VERY look time of cold crits from a peer of mine at the time. I didn't realise, but he fed me alot of negative feedback, and it has taken me a VERY long time to learn that I can draw for myself and it be ok, and to not doubt myself. He ended up making me feel like I had no talent with the way he critiqued. I NEVER want to see that happen in my crit thread :(

I love this picture. The whole "noir" theme makes it look so classy and Cottontail, oh, she looks beautiful <3 This sounds odd but the way you drew her lips is lovely and the whole thing just has a very mysterious vibe which suits her character. Fabulous work as always :3

Thank you :) I've been trying to draw more females cause I don't draw them enough. Sarah has a few aspects about her that I'd like to explore over the next few months that are really interesting, but for now, I was really inspired to do something of her in an advert ^^That particular colour is one of the reasons it feels so mysterious, cause it's so dark, and neutral that it doesn't give ANY story in it's hue. Like... reds can be anger or passion. This is the polar opposite. I really like how the colour plays that ^^

Urgh- Sorry peeps! I'm trying to keep up with internets, but I have a printing deadline next week and need to finish my art book.

Some previews so far:-
Spoiler: Cover
Image
This will be on ice card, which means it'll shimmer in a pearl like fashion where ever there is white. I've seen it printed and it's VERY pretty.

Spoiler: Mugshots
Image
Mugshots for character profiles:- Zeth Gant, Sarah Cottontail, and Alexander Kraus.

I'll be back soon! I hope ya'll don't miss me too much ^^;

I've posted to Germany before :) Perrydotto purchased my last comic and she's German. I just need a clear concise address, that's all, cause I WONT know what I'm writing XD I don't like having to pay for freight twice when it comes back too T.T Through a store? Unlikely in my life time XD You'll be lucky to find my stuff in a store in NZ XD ((Although some of my comics ARE in stores. They're all old ones though))

Oh- it' looks really pretty ^^ I printed it on my laser printer at work on some A4 size card I had lying around at home and was all 'This can not be on white card T.T ' Talked to my printer, and they're going to do all my covers in ice :D I'm very happy, cause for a white, it was going to be plain white T.T

Oh my :3 I thinkl I may just have run out of complimentary things to say.... Will an incoherent OHMYGODILOVEITSOMUCHHHH be sufficient? XD

On the more useful side, and since you already know my feelings on the artbook cover.... I adore the mugshots ^^ Zeth's :/ face makes another welcome return (ahh, I love that face XD) and I really like how cheeky Cottontail looks. Oh, and I'll take a moment to fangirl over Kraus now <3

You're selling copies? Dammit, I wish I had a bank account, I'd buy one like a shot <3

Heheh- lol XD If I finish it, I will be, yes :) It's proving difficult to make. I never realised T.T And my dead line for printing is racing me :(

Kraus is a funny one- he's quite popular on the RP it seems cause people get to see him more there, but I haven't drawn alot of art of him. I should draw more of him cause he's an interesting character. I'm glad you can appreciate him ;)

Um... I don't want this to be unavailable to people, but I can't send it for free- if you were to purchase a copy, how would be best? I'd be accepting Paypal, but I'm not going to advertise it till the files are in the printer's hands due to time constraints. Don't want to sound money hungry, cause I'm not, but if you do want it, I'd hate for you not to have one :)

Hmm, well, I'll probably be opening a bank account soon for my trip to Thailand, so I guess once that's done, maybe Paypal would be the best bet? Of course I don't expect to get it for free! :3 Got to keep the struggling artists going, eh? =P Oh, and I'd have to pay in GBP, would that be okay?

If you're paying by Paypal, then you can do USD- I'll be making a conversion for NZD and USD... Probably also AUS. I think I'd be scared to know the price in pound. It's likely to turn into 5 pound T.T *NZ currency fail*

It'll be good to get some international sales on this though- My costs were lower on my last comic cause it was grey scale. This is all colour so it's costing me alot more to print.

Yeah- sometimes it's hard to tell if I should finish a picture or not. Some look better as a work in progress, and some surprise to as a final product. I was going to have him feather off at some point but it never properly balanced off. I ended up finishing it off cause of that. I guess that's what happens when you have a REALLY good reference. Actually, all the references were REALLY good lighting. I lucked big time with them :)

The Sweeney Todd one hasn't progressed yet- that'll happen later tonight, but Dr Who is now 90% covered in coloured pencil and is looking really good :) I've learnt alot about colour in making it, so I'm pretty pleased with it ^^ The problem is, all the references were small pictures so I don't know the blurred details in the picture >.> It'd make it ALOT easier to draw if I knew what I was looking at. I have alot of guessing, and it's kinda apparent in some areas T.T I'm hoping noone will mind so much since it's just background :D

I'm glad you've seen Sweeney Todd then ^^ I loved the movie :) It's very artistic. Brutal ending too XD

Thank you for your comment :)

Hrmmm... Axel Hermann wasn't so bad... maybe 6 hours. Dr Who would easily upscale 20 hours though. I've been fighting those stripes for the last half year. Sweeney Todd likely wont take longer than 10 hours when it's done. Colour just takes me longer. It's not just shading I need to watch, but hue as well >.> And it's hue that I struggle with right now ^^; I'll never get better if it if I don't try though... even if I'm extremely slow :) Thank you though.

Doing some charity art for the convention this weekend. One of them is hobo Phoenix

Image

I'm not getting any money for these pictures I'm selling, but they are on really nice card (Steller?) and the price is reasonable considering it's charity. The standard is that I'm not going to strictly follow a reference so it's my raw interpretation of a human face- that's faster for me. I'm not cutting corners though.

I think I just have seen Hobo-Nick in real life, only with a black white filter :meekins:

I'm really digging the shading around the lips on this latest picture- very pretty~ Yeah, I kinda have a thing for nicely drawn lips XD

As for your GORGEOUS Sweeney Todd portrait, I can't help but feel that the blue wash is a little cold. IMO, a sepia sort of tone would work better here <3 Oh, wait, that was in the crit thread, wasn't it? *feels silly*

And as for the David Tennant and Axel Hermann pictures.... asdgfhgjhlkjlkxcvbIthinkmybrainexplodedhere <3 <3 <3 Totally beautiful- the colour use on your David Tennant is really quite lovely :3 All the time and effort you put in definitely paid off ^^

Yeah- I like nice lips too. It adds character, and swoon factor *snuggles into hobo's arms*

That Sweeney todd picture- it's not so much a blue wash, but the scanner is LED and I didn't counter the blue it tints it cause it was an interesting effect. It's not an intentional wash- just some areas are blueish. This isn't the most up to date version of it though.
Spoiler: Up to date Sweeney Todd

This one should be more to your liking :)

David Tennant took AGES to get the colour right and it's still no where near the original colours T.T I can't do much about that though cause the blue I used is difficult to replicate in RGB. These are all in my art book which I'll be picking up tonight :) I'll post some photo graphs of it if people are interested ^^

Thank you for your comment. :hobohodo:

I love the Sweeney Todd picture
it captures the essence of of his character and the character of the whole movie.
It also shows the bloody revenge he thirsts for. I can feel how he looks direclty in my eyes O_o
As for the woman, (forgot her name, though) it shows how much she loves him but he doesn't care about it
Awesome work so far
Can't wait for the final version
