Yeah, clothing folds are hard! especially without reference. Have you tried modelling for you pictures yourself? Like, with a large mirror? I find that's extremely helpful with anatomy. Also, if you look at a picture backwards (i.e. turning the paper backwards and looking at it against the light) it's a lot easier to notice mistakes. For eyes, guidelines also help when you're drawing the head. Eheh, I'll stop pretending to be an expert now.
