For A and G Ohio in March, I'm looking to do a Lisa Basil cosplay, but I need a bit of help on a couple items.

Tiny reference, if you don't know/remember what she looks like: Image

1.Any ideas on how to make the HMD (the headpiece)? I don't even know where to begin on this one. It might just be easier for me to commission this from someone who knows there stuff, but I would like to at least try to do this. Gotta learn somehow!

2.Any idea on how to make/set up buttons that light up sequentially, like the ones on her jacket? Once again, I haven't got a clue where to start.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

No Clue about the jacket, but there are headsets that include a microphone. If you could find a cheap one you can modify it. Find a cheap pair of glasses too. It might be easier than it looks. Just get the heaphones/michrophone, use some silver duck tape to attatch the half the glasses to it, hide the head-band part of the headset under the wig you wear or behind your head under the hair.

I'd try an op shop or party shop for a pair of blue-lensed glasses, and maybe use a second-hand XBox360 headset spraypainted silver for the rest of the headset... and Locktite40 superglue to combine the two. (And like it's been suggested, hide the headband part under or in your wig.)

Someone on LJ actually did the costume and I think they used LED lights and actually got them flashing at some stage or were working on it.

Good luck! I've always wanted to give Lisa a go (and I saw the most perfect shimmery blue shoes in an opshop the other day which made me want to, too...)

If you can get a busted Xbox head set, then that's good- we used one, and used electric tape to cover the grays of the headset. We also used the tape to "glue" down half of a pair of safety glasses to the set, and then had a little extra tape to stick a sun glass lens to the "HMD"

I then wore a wig cap, donned the HMD, and then the wig.

End result.

(also... I have naught the science/money to make the lights, so I got costume gems instead)
