:kyouya: Hey folks. Another one here intending to cosplay Klavier, and I've got a few questions!

The first is those dang pants! I can't see anywhere that they're meant to be leather, but I'd like to get some leather ones to go with the rock star vibe. ;3 The thing is... I can't find them anywhere! I've tried thrift stores and had no luck there... has anyone ever had any luck elsewhere?

The second thing... that drill hair. I've got long blonde hair I can shape into the style... I'll have to cut it, though, to get some bangs. Does anyone know of a style I could choose that would be good for Klavier, and also look fairly good for everyday wear? Also, what kind of products have you used to get your hair to be nicely shaped in that infernal drill? Any drill-hair tutorials?

Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated! :)

My suggestions are thrift stores, garage sales, and my favorite: church rummage sales.

Maybe it's just my area, but vindictive conservative parents throwing out their teenager's collection of 'worldly' goods has gotten me boots, shiny pants, and one time, an actual corset. It takes time and luck to find things for costumes at thrift places. Ask about their donation turnover, and check back often, (maybe once a week) especially if they have sale days.

As for using your own hair, I've done that for cosplay, and even if you have blond hair, I'll suggest a wig.

You style it once and touch it up as opposed to two hours of solid work before wearing your costume-- And putting enough product in your hair to keep the drill firm (and getting it out later) sounds difficult to me. Not to mention real styled hair will wilt more than wig fiber on a hot day.

Hope that helps. :)

Haha, that's amazing! :) (You might remember me asking you on LJ how to get that 'G' ring... after days spent scouring the sales I took your advice and intend to modify one of those akatsuki rings. ;3 Anything else like it was nowhere to be found!)

I'll keep trying the thrift shops... I fear my time is running out and I may have to settle for some scary shiny pants I found that were... well, shiny but definitely not leather. Maybe you won't be able to tell from a distance. ;3

Also, hair must really be a hassle... I have to admit, I haven't tried out the style yet and the advice I'm getting everywhere seems to be to go for a wig. I'm going to attack my own with some product just to test it before I give in to my stubborn pride and go find myself something on ebay. ;3

I've cosplayed Klavier before I dunno if I was that great T_T but I can at least try to help as well!
I recommend the wig over actual hair as well because it's true that the amount of work that goes into making the drill is quite a bit and to do something like that the day of is gonna blow a lot of con time getting ready.
Also with the pants if the Leather pants seem to expensive you might want to go for just some shiny looking dress Pants. it's definitely a lot cheaper and can be a bit better when your on a budget.
I was kinda wondering about the G-ring how you two did it if you don't mind . . . ^^

Heheh, I haven't recieved mine yet, but impureimpulse was telling me she modified an akatsuki ring, from Naruto. I haven't seen the show myself, but the ring looks exactly like Klavier's 'G' ring, only with a kanji symbol instead of the G. I'm not quite sure what materials to use to create that black/silver 'G' yet, but I'll work it out!

Eh...the other two rings weren't much of a problem for me (already have 'em), but the 'G' ring...ngh.

Using my mother's class ring and hoping no-one notices. *Wince*

I can't read Japanese, but it looks like they just braided a section of the wig and then stuck some more around it?

It appears that way. Also looks like they used some sort of glue to hold it around the braid. I think the most important point of the thing is that there's that sideways-ish braid underneath it to give it it's shape. OP was asking about cutting their hair, but this page shows the style is doable without anything specific of a haircut.
