*cough cough* (currently out of character). :godot:
Just if you're planning to put EL wire for the glowy effect of the mask I wouldn't prefer it... I couldn't see through that with the lights on behind the mask. In conclusion, just don't have any light behind the mask or it'll reflect back.
It is reflective on both sides, but if you have it close to your face it should be no problem. However with the fact that you wear glasses and if you're planning to wear it underneath... It may cause a bit of lower visibility but should still be pretty clear.

The thing about wearing something that makes you see everything in red is that it makes red look exactly like white. As to how Godot can see colors like Green and Blue without them mentally registering as black are beyond my comprehension, though.

I'm not exactly sure, myself.

However, seeing these pics, is really strengthening my resolve to cosplay as Godot at AAC in October, I just need to work on the visor. I hate to ask this, but has anyone created actual plans for such a thing yet?

I'm working on it. I'm shamelessly trying to copy both the artwork on this site and Kazzu's 2nd version mask. I'm experimenting a bit with different materials, thicknesses, etc. I'm making a template as I go as well. Once I'm done with the visor/mask I'll post pics. Right now, I'm still making the main pieces.

Okay, first update ingredients:

What I'm using (lots of tools are dangerous, use at your own risk or ask an adult >.>):
-6mm thick Foamies brand craft-foam sheets, 1 black, 1 white. This is a bit thicker than the 1/16th inch foam and provides a sturdier outcome. You can get them for about 75 cents a sheet at Michaels or Hobby Lobby
-Dual temp hot glue gun. (I tried the special glue for craft foam and decided it too way too long to dry because you have to hold it in place for some portions, hot glue is just as easy to work with and hardens much faster, but it can be less forgiving if you make a mistake)
-Xacto knife (for cutting!) :gant:
-Krylon Original Chrome spray paint (Most hardware and hobby stores carry this)
-Krylon Indoor/outdoor primer (Optional) I ended up using this for a couple reasons which I'll explain later
-Pencil
Gila Xtreme Colors Blazing Red automotive window tint (You'll likely have to order this online as it's illegal for cars in most states and local shops won't carry it. You can get a roll cheap for about $15, and it gives you a nice deep red mirror that you can see out of but people cant see in easily)
-Time

Huzzah, sorry for the hiatus, with the forums being down for a while, I've only been checking every couple days.
I've finished my mask, it's not perfect, but things usually aren't in the eyes of the creator.
I still need to make the PDF template so you can simply cut out the parts or edit as nessessary. Tomorrow being Friday will be good for giving me time to run to kinko's or whatever to do some scanning and take photos.

Anyway, I need to ammend my list of ingredients due to changes I made while making the mask.

-Stick with black only on the craft foam, Black is actually made of neoprene and not the same as white or the other colors. When you're heat forming it, it holds shape much better and is firmer (is that a word? XD) than the white craftfoam.
-Scissors, I just used a pair of sharp fiskers scissors for cutting the foam edge to create the edge for the ridge in the center of the mask/visor. I'll show this in the photos.
-I read the fine print on that Gila Xtreme Colors film and discovered that it is not a mirrored red, but a simple transparent red. This is still fine as it's really shiny and lets little light in, but I ended up getting some stage light gels to do the red portion. I used a Rosco Red #22 gel if you want just the right color. The people at Wybron even gave it to me free because I only wanted the one sheet. ^^
-Squadron white model putty, stupid seams show even after multiple coats of spraypaint. Combat this by applying putty to the seams and letting it dry for about a day, then sanding it nice and flat. now the seams are hardly noticeable if you even know where to look.

More to come.

It's been a while since I stopped by this topic but- Kazzu, I agree, your cosplay gets better every time I see it. The spittake is hilarious.

My local con is coming up early next month and I'll be wearing Godot again. I have to repair my mask a little bit... the superglue peeled off some of the paint (that I shouldn't have put) in between the silver and black sections. Whoops. But no worries, no harm done.

Also I've changed some other parts of the costume to better reflect the genderswap. There's no question about it, I'm gonna be a full up female Godot. How's everyone else doing?

Lovely work as usual, KaZzu. <3 You're very inspiring~

Looking through all your pics, I'm very tempted to make a mask.. but alas I have no one to put it on, as my boyfriend has sworn off wigs (and hairdyes) forever, after a long weekend as Kristoph.

He will be the Diego to my Mia though, so it's not all bad~

Hi guys, how goes it?

Soooo I been working on my Godot cosplay and all I need is a shirt (that color is really hard to find...) and to finish the mask....which of course is proving pretty @^%#$@ if you know what I mean.

Since I'm a perfectionist (and I also only have 2 sheets of foam stuff >.>) I wanted to pop in and ask if anyone could procure a template. (Read: Ridley, see me stare pointedly in your direction? <3)

No big deal I guess, cause I'll probably freak out in the next few days and slam something together...but I'd like for that to not happen. Hehe.

Help? =]

Pfft, you could always cosplay Godot yourself? Riiight? :godot:
I actually gave my original mask to a PW fangirl friend of mine... It just makes a cool thing to add to a collection xD But Diego is always cool as well :javado:

You're cosplay looks great Ridley, glad to see the visor came out as nice as it did. One tip I could give you is if you're really anal about things, you can coat the whole visor in epoxy and sand it smooth; It would get ride of those lines where you had to cut out craftfoam and glue it back together. I need to do another layer on my visor cause part of the paint is wanting to come off, haha.

One thing I do too is you can use men's facial hair dye to get your beard black. My facial hair comes in kinda red/brown, even though I have blak hair so I usually dye it before cons come up. Just make sure you do it a few days before the con because it will stain your skin a little bit too.

I just got done with 3 cons these past two weeks (one in Canada, I was on the lookout to see if you were there Silvewind), so I've got a couple new pics scattered around my DA. I'll just leave this one here...

Oho, I was wondering how yours was so smooth. What sort of epoxy did you use? I used craft paste, but covering the whole thin in that stuff would be rather difficult and messy. Thanks for the advice on the beard as well, being naturally blond doesn't help. :P

You were at Anime Evolution, right? Unfortunately, I was nearly across the entire country, at CNAnime in Toronto. I'm touched you were looking for me though! <3

Yeah, AE. It was pretty poorly put together this year, having to switch the venue a month or so before the actual con. It was fun just to hang out with friends though. A friend of mine (mu empire) went over to Toronto instead of AE this year xD

You could totally do a fake beard. Ninjattorney had to have his all sharpied on because he was Captain Falcon the day before he was supposed to be Diego and had to shave and it didnt come out too bad.

The stuff I used for the epoxy was made by Loctite. It was in this small tube where the resin and hardener came out in equal parts so you didnt have to measure it out. It comes in varying dry times to work with; I think I used the 5min set. Just make sure you give it lots of time to dry before you sand it otherwise it could mess up your finish. You also might have to do multiple coats, depending on how smooth the surface is.

I havent done this personally, but you could also use polyester resin instead of the epoxy. Its cheaper but it doesnt dry clear like epoxy does (which wouldnt really matter in this case cause you're painting over it).

I picked up the epoxy from Lowes and the polyester resin you can find at autoparts store (its used with fiberglass).

Yes, I heard about that last second AE switch-- crazy stuff; people were talking about the con possibly being cancelled... I'm glad that didn't actually happen.

Funny you should mention mu empire, because she's a friend of mine too! She actually stayed with me for a few days for CNAnime and we hung out around the con together. (Small world, haha!)

I recognized Ninjattorney in a bunch of PAX photos-- I'd no idea he was going as Captain Falcon, but then I kept on seeing an Ini/Mimi on the side of each photo; it wasn't too hard to figure out from there! :gant:

Hmm, sharpied-on beards...

You used craft foam, I see, but how did you go about making it? How does it stay on? Teach me, sir, PLEASE!

Well uhh, first I made a paper model of the pieces, traced that onto the craft foam and cut it out. I used an exacto knife for the red bars. Auto primer and spray painted the foam pieces, but it took quite a few coats to get it smooth. The lens is 1/16" red plexiglass (acrylic sheeting). I just cut that to the right shape and curved it with a heat gun. Then heat up the foam a little bit and glue it to the lens. You can use some mirror sheeting film on the lens to make it so you cant see your eyes too. I used some elastic to wrap it around my head but you could probably glue on some glasses arms on it. Thats basically it :godot:

These are more recent pics of the mask (and costume overall :D )

I'm dedicated to making a Godot costume for someone for Halloween starting... Uhh... Yesterday. I've never worked with any of the things you guys are recommending for the mask, so I'm not sure how well it will turn out :yuusaku: Templates were mentioned a few times, but did anyone actually make any? It would make my life sooo much easier to not have to figure that out on top of everything else.

I also don't have a sewing machine anymore, so... Hand sewing that vest, tedious but okay or a horrible idea? I'm afraid of how much it will cost at a department store.

And a side note-- I recognize KaZzu! There are photos of you and my friend as Mia standing under a purple umbrella! :D

That's a classic Kazzu and I am sure he never saw it coming! There seems to be some kind of attraction with prosecutors flinging stuff at poor Nick's head. Your beard looks darker on that picture and it must be hard to get it the right shape!

It would be bad to spill coffee all over your costume so definetly dont try the coffee slam. You guys are so cool to be out there taking pictures everywhere... :)

I have a question there - Getting a white mug seems to be not that easy, but not impossible either, so that will be okay.
My boyfriend and I intend to cosplay Mia and Diego and I need

1.) A kind of fake mug you can easily break with your hands, but has a simliar way to shatter as a glass or porcelain (so cardboard won't work). Having the hand bleed afterwards isn't hard I can say, I just need to glue some of these fake blood capsules in it.
So I have no clue what material I should choose for that thing. Suggestions anyone?
2.) A kind of fake mug which can be thrown at people without really hurting them. I know Diego never throws his mug at anyone in the game, but I can imagine him doing it in court if the prosecutor is really an a*hole or such; but I think this one isn't that hard. I'm just not sure, does plastic hurt that much if you throw it "normal", so not really hard?

I drew that up in Illustrator a few weeks ago. You may have to mess around with the sizing, but it should work out for you :godot:

Wow, that looks incredible! I was admiring your pictures in the cosplay section a few days ago. I'm going to be making a Godot costume for myself (I am female, but that's part of the joke) and I'm really stressing out over the mask.

Send me a PM if you need more details ^^

I agree, that's a wonderful costume you made, everything is (almost) perfect.
Simply stated : one of the best cosplay I've ever seen in my whole life... oh, and Godot ! :godot:
I really envy you ! You did such a wonderful job KaZzu, that's incredible...
If I ever cosplay one day (which is kinda difficult at the moment, since I don't really have the time to do so... and I'm very bad at making stuff like the mask for example), I'll take you as my model !

In fact, I'd really like to cosplay Godot one day, but I guess I'll just have to wait for the time being (and in France, there are not much convention or things like that at all (only a very dull and expensive 'convention', if you liketo be conned ^^).
But I wonder... why did nobody ever though of cosplaying... Diego Armando ?! Since there's no mask, it should be easier to cosplay him, rather than Godot... ^^

I think I'll start with him ^^
Furthermore, I prefer his red suit over Godot's one ! (don't ask me why ^^)

Ok, got the front piece of the mask painted--all that is left is to glue the three pieces together. Will post when complete.

Perrydotto,
1. That's hard - most things that break end up with sharp edges that you could seriously cut yourelf with when you squeeze it. So, sorry, can't help with that.
2. Doesn't he throw it at Phoenix? Oh well...um, yes. Plastic will hurt a lot if you hit bone with it (i.e. someone's head, or even shoulder). If this mug will be different from the one in number one, you can use the same stuff you used for your mask, or papier mache, I guess.

KaZzu, I can't see the image under the spoiler tag...it just says "image."
