I have a question for fellow Maya cosplayers, (or those who wear wigs)
how do you get the wig up in the bun? D:
I spent about $25 on mine, and I was unable/afraid to do much with the bun

I've seen some cosplayers that look like their wigs are leik, CEMENTZ, which I mean, if it gets the job done XD
this was my Maya Cosplay at AWA;

I felt like I kinda failed at it, cause I couldn't pull it up ;w;
any suggestions? :0

Well I think you could grab some hair from the back and then put it up in a bun, even though Maya's seems to be more in the middle.
I have seen some people actually grab the very top of the wig and then put it together to make a but but I don't think it looked very good.
Sorry I'm not much help, I don't have a Maya cosplay, but yours was still really good!

The one time I did Maya I used my own hair, although I plan on going back and doing it again but with a wig since I cut my hair. What I did was pull my hair up like a normal... whatever that is and then wrap it several times around with a piece of scrap cloth to keep it up. Then I put the big purple ball thing over the cloth. The problem with doing that on a wig would be that it shows the wig cap if the wig is fairly thin. You may want to consider getting an extension and clipping in on after styling. That's generally how you do things like ponytails on a wig. You don't use the wig itself but attach an extension so the underneath isn't exposed.

I tried to do that too, but it ended up looking more like a round flat bun, instead of the more vertical one like she has, and I'm really OCD about that kinda stuff, so I just ended up pulling it back into a ponytail >__o
but mine was pretty thin too I guess D:
I was hoping to be able to do something like the extension, but I really didn't have that much time, and my mom didn't understand the idea, and therefore REJECTEDDD it ;w;

hopefully I'll be able to have that done by the next con I go to :0
thank youuu<3

Well in my case I used a wig too :P
My wig had lots of hair in the front so actually it was quite easy =o Y just grabbed hair from the sides, bend it a little and then did a little hop ^^;;! not really a bun, then I grabbed it with one hair band, and then secured it with some hairclips. I didn't do a biiiig "bum" since a preffer Maya with a smaller one and I was doing the maid version so you can hardly see it but well xD
Here is one from behind :B
Objection
You could try doing a similar but bigger, (depends on your wig, if its not thick the hairnet could show) and then use some hairspray to keep it in place.

The other way I've seen people do this is by taking a foam egg and wrapping hair from extensions around it, then attaching the bundle to the top of the wig. That way it helps keep its shape a bit more. There are various tutorials around on places like Cosplay.com for making "odango" buns for cosplays like Sailor Moon, and it would be the same basic principle, except with Maya's bun.

I see what you did thar :0
it looks so cuuute ;w;
I might be able to, I dunno, I was just kinda afraid that the cap would show if I pulled too much up, it is pretty thin DX

did you make the costume yourself?
-loltotally non-related question-

that and, I wasn't sure how to secure it
I guess I should've gotten the extentions and actually tried though n__n;
