I am going this year! And I'll be cosplaying! I'm trying to finish a bunch of cosplays I've started [Luke cosplay from Professor Layton, Feenie, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei] but I'm probably goin to be lazy and use my Hobophoenix one!

I've been to one or two meetups in the past. Depending on what's planned, it could either be a simple photoshoot where all the people dressed as characters from the same series meet up for people to.. well.. take pictures of them,
or just a get-together to mess around and talk to cosplayers from the same series,
or even a dinner/lunch where cosplayers from the same series chill out at the food court and eat together. Nothing too extravagant.
The more people the better. Usually these meetups are scheduled ahead of time for a particular time and place. I wouldn't start making official plans until we get more people (which I really hope we do!).
I should really, really check the animeboston.com forums...

So about planning something... Dinner sounds o-kay but personally I wouldn't be too into it now that I think about it. Any form of time and money spending to me is unattractive but again, that's only me. I can't speak for the whole. But I'm just giving you a heads up if I'm not the only one feeling that you might get half the people that show up to the meetup to actually go to get food :3 AGAIN just speculating- I'm usually wrong with these sorts of things.

I'd vote for Ron, but then again your child!Edgeworth cosplay is fantastic. I can't decide!
As for the photoshoot thing, I'll have to see how my Phoenix cosplay turns out. If it comes out snazzy enough I'll definately consider hiring you at the con. I've been wanting decent pics taken of a cosplay of mine for aaages.

I see where you're coming from. What I had in mind lunch-wise was more of a "meet at the food court and if you want to eat, go ahead, you don't need to but either way we'll sit together and act like idiots" sort of thing (to be honest I'll probably be too excited to eat, myself). Then again, I've never been in charge of a cosplay meetup before. We could always decide to go elsewhere. Cosplayers usually mingle around that area anyway; its between the hotel and the actual convention area.
Everyone's opinions count, though. If anyone has a better meetup place in mind, by all means suggest it!

I'd encourage you to get your PW cosplay done because I've been wanting to get more Phoeinx Wright photo's up! xD I'm crazy about the game and I can't find a PW cosplayer to hire me xDD

If memory serves me right the convention will be at the Hynes Convention Center located in Boston's Back Bay Neighborhood. The Back Bay Area boasts 8 to 12 hotels (including 2 under construction) and a crapload of eateries and shopping choices. The Convention Center is next to the Prudential Center and Copley Place, which combined is basically an indoor version of New York's Times Square minus the moving ads =D
Boston is also home of the nation's largest Apple Store (directly across from the Convention Center) and is of course, home of the Boston Red Sox (right down the street) =D
Depending on the timing maybe we can catch tickets to a Celtics game. Half of the tourists we get try to see the Celtics or Red Sox if they can while they're here. Unless you're a Yankees fan (and for your own safety, I suggest you don't wear any Yankees gear--yes, "THAT" rumor is true), you don't want to die before having set foot in Fenway Park.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I'll just get the top 5 out of the way before hand:
-We New Englanders have our own dialect: When we talk we don't say the "r" and instead replace "r" with an "a" (for example, Fenway Park = Fenway Paak). We do it on purpose but we know proper english.
-Saying "Wicked Awesome!" is NOT cool unless you're a native Bostonian.
-Some people like to talk about how expensive the Big Dig was. See for yourself weather or not the cost was worth the end result =D
-I touched on this above but if you have the balls to walk around wearing Yankees-related clothing within 3 miles of Fenwat Park (considering Baseball Season will be underway during the convention) brace yourself for dirty looks, rude jestures and profane insults =D
-Don't drive, use the MBTA. Boston's best experienced on foot and everything's close enough to allow you to walk to where you need to be.
Finally, there is a hospital downtown. When I know I'm gonna be in a new town/city for more than 16 hours I make it a point to know where the nearest hospital is =D
Oh, and the Back Bay Area is technically outside the Downtown Area...by about 1.5 miles XD

since i went to the con last year i would say the evenings would be difficult due to all the programming but perhaps one of the afternoons.
i want to cosplay and bf has been trying to convince me to do Mikumo Ichijou but i have not put anything together yet. may also try Viola Cadaverini since her outfit is relatively easy to do.

My sister and I will be going on Saturday and Sunday. At the beginning of the year, we originally planned for her to go as Trucy Wright and for me to go as Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club - but after seeing her in her Trucy cosplay I began to feel nostalgic because of my Pearl Fey cosplay from last year - so one day we'll have an Ouran theme and the other day we'll have a GS theme. I'm guessing that we won't be in GS cosplay until Sunday, seeing as I originally planned to cosplay with my friend as Renge and Haruhi, and we knew that Saturday was the definite day I could go.
(Though the only problem with my Pearl cosplay would be that I'd have short hair, seeing as how I'm planning to cut it so I can donate it to Locks of Love AND have the correct Haruhi hair style.)
...geez, how many times did I say "cosplay" in that above paragraph?
I don't think we'll be able to meet up in a specific place or hang out for a while, but I'll definitely make sure that my sister and I keep an eye out for all of these wonderful cosplays! =D

If anyone wants to be Ron Delite for the con, I don't think I'll be selling the actual costume but I am willing to rent it out (at a VERY cheap price) because I want more Delite love out there xD

I hope the line isn't that long for pre-orders. I wasn't there last year, this will be my first time going, but one of my friends said she waited 4 hours.
