I kind of wanna know, because I plan on recycling this cosplay (also because I am super duper self conscious). XP Suggestions of who I should cosplay instead (from GyakuSai) are welcome, too.

Picture time!
The pictures are just pictures that were taken at the con. They're not professional.
My friend, who cosplayed L, is in there sometimes, too.

Mostly everything was made from scratch (with help from my mother, who actually knows how to use a sewing machine). This is my first "serious" cosplay. :maya:

Worn at: AnimeBoston '08
Clothes: Sewed (sewn?) from scratch.
Shoes: Sewed purple fabric around a pair of flip-flops.
Necklace: White sculpey, painted. Painted ping pong balls with holes burned through them.
Hair balls: Again, painted ping pong balls.
Wig:
...
Okay. There's a story for this.
I commissioned a wig a few months prior (for $131). There was a little correspondence at the beginning, but after a few weeks, when the maker said she'd email me with updates, they stopped. So, I decided to wait... and wait... and wait... And a week before the con it hadn't come.
And I didn't have time to order a nice wig off the internet.
So, I run to iParty, buy a cheap $10 wig, and style it.
This is the only part of the costume that I was dissatisfied with, but it turned out OK in the end. This summer I'll probably cosplay Maya again.
The wig place was Kawaii Wigs, just to let you know. It seemed legitimate at the time. I still haven't heard anything at this point. D:

Ah! For a cheap $10 wig, you did a wonderful job! :D I love the way your necklace looks... ping pong balls, hm? I'll have to remember that. :3 Excellent work, you look just like her. :maya:

Aww, you're really cute. Only problem I saw was your wig, but looks like you're quite aware of that, heh. It's kind of a good thing you didn't get your commissioned wig since wow, that's really expensive for something you could possibly do yourself (in fact, you did do it yourself in the end). Maya's hair doesn't seem too difficult to style either. Just make use of some more ping pong balls, eh? They even make ping pong balls in a much larger size as well - that's what I ended up using for the really big hair bead thing in the back when I cosplayed Maya. I mention Ebay every single time wigs come up, but I really enjoyed my experience with them. Got a Cosworx wig first but it was kind of nasty wearing it (well, not nasty per se, but unpleasant), but the ones I got off Ebay are pretty~. I love your Maya overall! I think you have like the perfect face for it. :)

Oh no! I ordered a Cosworx wig (got it a few days ago)... So far, it seem fine. I haven't gotten the extensions yet, so I haven't started fiddling with it much. I tried it on, and it was OK, too.

I think it was expensive because the person making it was using a bazillion packs of extensions and an expensive wig. She actually only charged $9 an hour, and estimated that the wig would take four hours... I only bought one pack of extensions, and the total cost (extensions, wig, foam head) was still about $75 (including shipping and stuff).

Thanks for the tips! :3
And the compliment. <3

Cosworx in itself is fine and still very good for cosplay. They sewed in more wefts than I thought was necessary which is why it wasn't as good as it could have been for me, but for Maya you'll definitely need more hair. The fibers aren't to the same grade and it's a tad more expensive, but Cosworx will definitely give you a satisfactory experience. It's just my personal preference for wigs anyways. Good luck with the extensions. My only experience with those was going to this bad stall in a mall and getting charged more for the extension than the already expensive wig itself. -_-

You kidding? Of course you were a good Maya! (You were a better Maya than I was a Trucy, lawl.)

Your cosplay is adorable!! The only issue is the wig (as you know), so if you happen to get a better wig for this year, your cosplay will be excellent :D You make a great Maya.

I was supposed to attend AnimeBoston but I was ditched :/ Too bad I couldn't go, I would have loved to see PW characters.

Great cosplaying! You really looked like Maya. That necklace was one of the best bits, I reckon.
