All you can do is hope to find someone who has a good balance of intimacy and emotional connection.Yeah, well. Those types are few and far between, in my opinion.

There's someone now who I had a thing with a year ago... e and I became very close, and I cared about him a lot. but just as we were finally getting to the point where we could be together, I moved...
So now I've moved back, and he and I are hanging out again, but it's not really like it was before. All of our progress was erased. I just wish he'd let me know if there was still something there... I do still care about him.

If you're both getting along, and you'd want it to go anywhere else, I'd say the best thing to do is randomly reminisce about the past, at the best possible time.
