That is utterly impossible DoMaya because she already professed her love for me.

I can bake but I can't cook. My cookery skills allow me to make:

Cheese on toast
Beans on toast
Cheese and beans on toast
Cheesy beans

I love cooking, it's so fun ^_^ and I love food = win. I think I'm a pretty good cook actually, yet my parents always tease me and say I'm rubbish. Only because I never cook for them. I learn a lot when I live on my own and have to cook for myself, because even though I can be lazy, I don't want to eat microwave meals all the time.

I'm good with anything that come with a cooking instruction.

So making some burger patties and then cooking them is out of the question. I'm more afraid of food poisoning with that.

But ask me to make pretzels and I'll run a sword through you...
Spoiler: my lack of skill
I keep getting the cooking paper thing stuck to them... and they taste like baking powder.

Post subject:  Re: Food and Cooking

I love food but I'm terrible at cooking. Stoves scare me, ovens confuse me, and microwaves love me (but I don't really love them back).

At best, I can make a sandwich given the right ingredients but I can't guarantee it would be good. I'm always freaking out over which ingredients should I put first and what order they should be in. When I go to college I've decided that I would only eat frozen lasagna everyday because that's the best-tasting thing I can prepare...

On the other hand, everyone around me is like some kind of cooking genius. My dad, mom, sister, grandparents, aunts, cousins, friends, teachers, they're all cooking PRODIGIES. Might be because I'm Chinese so I'm surrounded by people who like to cook but even my Caucasian friends are masterful cooks. Seriously. I can't even cook rice and they're all going around with their fancy pans and spices and marinating and red wine. RED WINE. I didn't even know you could put wine in food but apparently you can because it makes things taste 100 times better than actual wine.

I enjoy cooking. Judging from other people's reactions, I think I'm a pretty good cook. My family loves it. When I cook, unless something specific is requested, I always experiment with new things, different kinds of spices, other cooking methods, etc.

My most popular dishes are my Oven Fried Chicken, Jamaican Jerk Burgers, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Negril Meatloaf (a meatloaf with Caribbean spices).

Plus cooking gives me an excuse to wear my chef's jacket and hat :D

Post subject:  Re: Food and Cooking

I was going to write a post about my recent adventures in cooking from scratch and my enjoyment there of, but recent posts here remind me why I tend to stay clear of Wright and Co.

Gah, I can't turn down an opportunity to gloat.

Okay, so I love meatball pizza. Love it. love it. love it. But it costs so much. Like 15 dollars min. Plus you gotta be in the mood to leave home get in the car, drive back and fourth... It's just not worth it.

So we started to make pizza from scratch. I've gotta admit, we've never used the bread maker more religiously since we learned we could make Pizza dough in it. Just throw the ingredients in, and in the time it takes to watch an episode of Star Trek: Voyager the dough is done and it's enough for 2-3 pizzas. Then after sauce and cheese and toppings, we can rapid fire a pizza in 15 minutes each. Frankly it's all we can do to keep up with it at times.

What's really sweet is that it's really cost effective. In raw ingredients, and ignoring electricity costs, each pizza costs us no more then $2. So we really get our money's worth.

Recently I've also taken to making my own meatballs from scratch. They taste really good. But I wish I could figure out how to make them without going through the whole balling process. It's like I start with mush meat, turn it into balls, and then return it to mush meat.

Oho! Good show, chap, you saw through my elaborate ruse! Because truly a good woman like Maya wouldn't be a Vegetarian! Vegetarianism is for weak minded hippes, who don't have the stones to shoot a bovine and carve it up on their neighbor's front porch! You have clearly staked your claim to Maya, enjoy your burgers on your waterbed, because I know you own one, my good man. As it is the third manliest bed of all time, behind a futon and the Tumpur-Pedic

Looks like mashed potato... I love mashed potato! :keiko:

I can make stir fry and curries. And pasta dishes like carbonara and bolognese (CAN'T SPELL). And I made a Spanish Omelette, and turkey burgers from turkey mince...I'd like to think I'm an accomplished cook.

But my sister is the real cook in the family. She made white chocolate mousse once...it was fantastic. And she makes brownies amazingly well too.

I'm great at cracking eggs, I can sometimes even crack them with just one hand like Cooking Mama 8D

With duck eggs though, you have to use a LOT of force so I just smack them with a knife.

I'm good at cooking different egg dishes, bacon in the oven, and sautéing vegetables.

My favorite egg dishes are quiches (sans crusts so really a frittata if you want to be ultra correct) and shirred (baked) eggs. I like to bake individual eggs in muffin tins instead of boiling them.
