Le solitaire non plus

   Black queen over red king, with finality;
   The product of their place, it was infidelity.   
   A young prince sprung forth from the pair;
   Pink ribbons hung woven through his hair.
05 Young red prince, looks his father's twin;
   Drawn not to mince but plays violin.
   Unfortunate spawn of unfortunate cause;
   Was drawn to men in spite of the laws.
   Black knave, come from across the ocean;
10 The hope he gave for young Red's emotion!
   Two were as one, never more delighted;
   To think of the fun which made them excited!
   Life as a flower, brilliant in hue;
   And, filled with power, their love only grew.
15 Then one day the black was violently plucked;
   The unfortunate jack in chains for his conduct.
   Taken away to another man's castles;
   As had befallen all other young vassals.
   From a separate column, they can only stare;
20 But their looks are solemn and feeling still there.
   Trapped at arms' length apart from their lover;
   Their inner strength lets them discover;
   It's not about drums and what he can do;
   It's not what comes of just being true;
25 It's that love is a dove and there's nothing to lose.
