That sucks ass, but sometimes nature works against you, and you can only do so much. I'm not sure how it is where you live, but it's been a nasty winter for a lot of people.

Yeah, next time I will buy trees more resistant (except japanese maple because they are so gogeous.). I live in Montreal, where we got temperatures up to 3 degres celsius before -25 degres... Sigh... At least winter is ending or at least near to end.

I don't know much about gardening, but there was one fully grown bonsai tree in the amusement park where I worked part-time during high school. One day I talked to the caretakers about it and he was full of pride when he explained every little detail about growing such a complex tree. If I'm to take his word in it these trees are very vulnerable to all kinds harm and require a lot of attention plus maintenance in order to grow properly. So unless you can provide decent shelter for your bonsai and daily maintenance, I'd suggest an easier tree to grow.

Youtube/Google, you done fucked up. :tigre:
So, I was taking a quick look at Youtube at 4 in the afternoon. Nothing wrong, right?
Well, when I check again at 5 (because one of my subscriptions had posted a new vid) apparently... I'm not logged in?
OK, no big deal, I'll just take my direct link to my Inbox - Wait, why's it prompting me to make a page?
Turns out, as far as I can gather, my YT account got fucking deleted. For no reason. :Kristoph-hair:

Oddly enough, my email (and I use Gmail) remained untouched. It's still there, nothing gone. Just Youtube.

I sometimes hate the subway system here in NY. Just had a incident where I swipe my card to get into the train and it steals my money and I have to pay another fare which I lost again. It happens everywhere where there isn't a teller which pretty much shows the mta is basically robbing riders of there fare. :ron:

Huh.

It may be universal. I wasn't logged out of my account, but as soon as I tried to do anything, Youtube displayed some vague message about their "new changes" and it apparently wiped out my entire watch/search history, my subscriptions, my videos, AND my channel.

But it could possibly be temporary... when I try to access certain areas, it gives me an error.

If not, then someone's nuts will have a hot date with my vise grip...

Edit: Okay, that's weird. I signed out and then signed back in. Well, signed in as my Youtube name and not my e-mail. It may have something to do with linked accounts after all?

Oh, a vent somewhat related to sports.

I fucking hate bad sport officials. I mean, I can take a few bad calls here and then, because no ref is perfect. I'm talking about referees who ruin games with shit calls through the duration of the game. Which is the shit I had to go through this evening. I attended my school's Basketball CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) game, which was at the regional level since my school won the divisional championships last week, and the refs made a bad call at least once a minute, which is what cost my school the game by 5 points. And I'm sure that the calls were very bad, because literally the whole crowd disagreed with a lot of calls, from both teams, but mostly against our school's team. Again, I don't expect officials to be perfect. But if there is a shitload of anti-official feedback from the audience, that means, quite simply, that the officiating is shit. And I know that the crowd was anti-official, because I also attended the divisional championships, and there was very little disagreement between and the audience. So, in summary, my school lost this evening because of obvious poor calls through the whole game, which pisses me off.

Because the 'plebs' are the ones who go to attend a game and if the ref is slowing it down with bad calls then eventually they'll leave and not come back which means losing ticket sales. Of course they should uphold the 'law' of the sport as best as possible but I often find, being in an elevated position in the stands the crowd often has a much better view of the field than anyone else.

Say in football, the ref has to follow the ball to ensure everything is fine. Then across the field some players have a disagreement and one of them clocks the other one. The crowd will see it and be furious but the ref was watching the action going around the ball.

In other reasons to worry, extremely angry crowds are often...dangerous. If the fans are passionate or rowdy enough and a ref makes a bad call (especially one that costs their side the game) then that referee might get death threats or other forms of personal attacks. Their names are posted alongside team line ups so it's hardly anonymous.

If you've ever seen Rat Race (great film) there's an American Football referee who screwed up a call in it and his taxi driver (who lost money on said game because of the ref) dumps him in the middle of the desert to die once he realises. Now it's a comedy so it's probably a little exaggerated but believe me there's worse incidents that have happened.

Being a referee is probably one of the worst most stressful jobs out there.

I played Basketball for 12 years so I've also had my fair share of bad referees. It's just something you're gonna have to accept that sometimes you can't win a game because you have the referees against you. a few times in those 12 years we even stopped the match and just took the loss halfway because of the bad / onesided calls from the refs. But that kind of shit really gets under your skin man, even when I remember it now it fuels me with anger.

Yeah I remember we'd get really unfair calls against really big teams when I went to watch football. Got me convinced that it was all part of the football associations' plan to keep the big teams on the top so that they'll still reel in money from their big teams. Course these big teams have exactly the kind of fans associated with football violence and threats against those they perceive to be working against their team so perhaps if there was a bias it was a bias out of fear over anything else. :ron:

I've not been to a football match in a long time now so I've got a great deal more sympathy for refs now they ain't constantly screwing me over.

You know in our Basketball club we had a rule. When you were 16 or older you are supposed to be a referee for matches (under you age) like once every 2 months or so. We didn't play at a high enough level at the time, so we could use local referees (which is why the chance of a biased ref increased tremendously). When it's you standing on the field as a ref and you mess up (since you do that no matter how much experience you have) then you get a humbling experience. When players and their parents chew you out, you'll keep that in mind with your own match and referees.
Until the heat of battle gets you worked up off course. Then you tend to fall back to your old ways real quick.

It's a legitimate complaint. Yes a local person might be biased but there's also an expectation for them to put those bias' aside when they are nominated to be a referee.

Well after two or three points of getting an obviously biased referee who is local, you'd think they'd catch onto the idea that getting a local ref may not be such a great idea.

Perhaps not but that doesn't discredit the complaint. The blame shouldn't fall on the people for having a reasonable expectation of referees, that should be upheld. They shouldn't give up that belief because referees don't uphold it, referees should change to match the standard of quality expected of them.

Besides we don't know enough about the situation, it sounds like it's a pretty small-scale sporting event so they might not be able to bring in a referee from outside who'd have no affiliation to either team all the time.

*shrugs* For all you know they might, it's not like you can prove bias unless someone comes out and admits it.

Point is you shouldn't harass folks like that because their expectations are in line with official expectations. In short it's the referees failings and you are treating it like it's a failing of the people and the legislation that governs referees.

This talk about referee bias reminds me of the conspiracy theories surrounding the recent Sochi Olympic games. These Canadian figure skaters that performed a completely flawless performance got a silver medal, while a Russian team that performed a couple of mistakes took gold. This gathered quite the media attention, at least here in Canada, so I'd be surprised if you've never heard of it. Then again, it might not be as big of a story elsewhere....

Well, obviously we all want independent referees, but the situation doesn't allow that. The problem is that Basketball doesn't get played that much in the Netherlands, since our national sport, much to my dismay, is football (or soccer, whatever). Next in line would be hockey i think, but don't quote me on that. What I'm trying to say is that Basketball is a 2nd rate sport in the Netherlands at best. This means that Basketball clubs are relatively small and very far apart from each other. And this causes multiple problems:
1: Unless you are playing at the highest level of competition (where money is involved), referees are too expensive to hire for every match and clubs would go bankrupt.
2: If you forced another club to ref your game (A plays vs B and club C provides referees) you would get an insane amount of referees who wouldn't show up to their game. I mean, unless you're 100% motivated (or payed at least) you wouldn't drive a total of 2 hours to play referee at another club.

So yea, with local referees you certainly get more biased ones with it, but like I said it's something you learn to deal with over the years. And the fact that if you have been referee yourself than you use that experience the referee at your own game better.
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

Um, what game are you talking about? I'm going to assume it's Persona 4 Golden.

Pff, no. I'm talking about the PS2 Persona 4, not the easy-as-hell Persona 4 Golden, where I can pretty much choose which skill to give all my party members and not just Narukami. Or even choose which skill I want on my fused Personae. By God, they made that version so easy...!

. . . I take it expert mode is that difficult? Considering you used all caps...

He didn't seem difficult until Bewildering Fog, then he just buffed himself and I couldn't debuff him and he hit Narukami for about 600 or 800 HP. And my patience was already low since it ALWAYS IS

You thought you could be safe in your courts, with your laws and attorneys to protect you. In this world only I am law, my word is fact, my power is absolute.

Wouldn't your impatience be thin if you had a game where it sometimes took you two or three tries to get the disc to run and not stop-restart after about 20 minutes?

I spent a hour trying to get Danganronpa to work on my emulator so it depends on the person's impatience level.

My impatience would be thin? Would mean I'd be direly close to being patient.

Though it's a shame your disk is a little busted I still think you generally have little patience for things, it's just in this case it's a pretty justifiable reason.
