Huh that's weird Pound Cakes. I mean based on the book I'm certain the pound cakes are just to be cut up and iced to sit on top of the cupcakes as the love hearts (shouldn't be hard to find a heart-shaped cutter at Valentines) but I wonder if they can be bought like the book says, course I don't mind making them myself but it's just another thing that could go wrong since I'd never made pound cakes before XD

Hmm I wonder if it's something else then that happens to be called pound cakes, if it's something to sit on top of the buns I can't imagine you'd need 3 huge cakes!

Though that bake looks awesome! I really want to try and branch out my baking outside of cupcakes (part of the reason I made the tiered cake) but I want to try tarts and how did you get that cool star-shape IN the bake?

Also the Moose ones were the best success yet, I've also tried making cupcakes that look like latticed cherry pies and apples but they didn't come out half as well as the Moose did. Though Twinkies are bloody expensive here XP

For the shape in the middle you bake it as a whole loaf cake, then when it's finished you cut star shapes out of it and line them along the bottom of another loaf tin, then you pour your second cake mix over the top and voilà! I only just managed to get enough stars out of it though because most of it was pretty much inedible :payne:

I don't think I've ever seen Twinkies being sold here! I might have a look in the sweet shop down the road that has an American sweet section.

Pound cakes are sooo popular here in Canada. Like Louise said, it's pretty much just a 1:1:1:1 ratio of the flour, butter, sugar, and eggs. It's very heavy and dense, but really moist. So the book probably assumes you can just get it at a store because it's from the States and it's pretty hard NOT to run into pound cakes at a bakery `round these parts.

So I'd try looking at a grocery store/bakery if I were you first but otherwise it's a pretty simple recipe. I don't think 'pound cake' refers to anything else.

I'll have a gander in stores but I've not heard of them before so it might not be common but maybe I'll get lucky.

Nah the Pound cakes are cut with Heart-cutters so you get big hefty chunks to sit on top of the standard cupcake. Then again this book always recommends utter tonnes of things. We probably won't need so many since the recipe claims to be for 18 cupcakes.

That's where you have to get them from, those American Candy shops seem to have sprung up everywhere in the last few years. I remember when we were making the latticed-pie cupcakes I was complaining to my girlfriend about how it's ridiculous that we need to find X amounts of the same coloured M&Ms (for the pie-filling) but lo and behold the American Candy shop we walked into had a freaking pick and mix for specifically coloured M&Ms. XD

2 days ago, I made BEEF BULGOGI.

My first time doing a Korean dish...very delicious. The marination I used was the Beef Bulgogi Sauce (ASSI Brand) and I also mixed in non-alcoholic Mirin with it too.

Next up, I might attempt to make Katsudon!! (Wish me luck)

I'm dreadful at frying meat correctly. I often burn it, or the beef gets far too red (I like bloody beef, but this is ridiculous). Good thing I'm going towards being a pescetarian. I don't ruin fish as often.
I'm good at improvising with what I have to make stews and soups and such. And I make great sushi.

I usually cook whenever I feel like it and I think do pretty well.
Although, lately I've been cooking a lot for my parents. Mum says I'm "spoiling her" because she hasn't been needing to cook or do much of anything (besides working) lately. I cook and clean up the house.

I can cook pretty well. I mean I handle most of the breakfast and my bring-to-school lunchies. :3 My best dish would be.... hmmm.... Maybe curry. From scratch. :pearl:

I REALLY like seasoning and cooking chicken. I used to make so many things by scratch, but due to some laziness, I don't do much from scratch lately. :payne: I should start up on that again.

Yeah, because you put your own twist into it. I really should do it again.
It really is. It's the only meat I eat and actually like. :redd:

I know the feeling. Except I like beef, only in steak (burgers, too!). Another point to the "I am so similar to Maya" list added. :maya:
