Thats one of the reasons why I stopped drinking caffeinated soda.

Not sure. I drank a lot of water and my throat still feels dry. :/

Today and yesterday I went straight to bed after working in the morning and slept through the afternoon. My mum is beginning to think that I'm not very well.

Well, if that isn't your normal sleeping schedule, I could see why she would worry. But is this something that just happened recently, or has it been going on a while? Have there been any changes in your daily routine or life in general, or did this just start happening out of the blue?

It's something that's happened recently. I just came back from New York which is a 4 hour difference in the UK. And the clocks went forward an hour. I had a day off work today and I feel a bit better though despite having more sleep than I should have done.

Sounds like a typical case of jetlag. I've been having trouble getting a proper sleep rhythm since sunday, too. I very easily don't notice the time until midnight and then don't go to bed until 1 AM and I don't really fall asleep until 2/2:30 AM... quite annoying.

Instead of water maybe try some milk, since it's very soothing for your throat. Also some people feel sleepy after drinking a cup with hot milk so maybe you can kill 2 birds with one stone.

I wonder it could be the weather as well, with the seasons changing, pollen spreading, and the air feeling dry in general.

I have 10 days to decide what I want to study this fall and I have no idea. I want to start studying at university and get somewhere in my life, but I just don't know what. I've had this problem for about two years now, and while I've really not got a time limit other than the one in my head, this situation is killing me. Does anyone have any suggestions for what would make for a good choice? I'm not interested in anything that involves math, and I love languages; the only problem with that is that finding a job having only studied languages at school would be a pain.

You could totally take languages, become a translator or a teacher, gives you the opportunity to work abroad as well for something a little more exciting.

Well, the military always needs interpreters... but I know not everyone enjoys the thought of being remotely near a battlefield. I'm sure there are need for interpreters in civilian life too.

You could also be a translator, or a language teacher.

If you're interested in a certain language (or languages), you could also study the geography, history, and/or economics of the country (or countries) where it is the spoken national language.

But it just depends on what you really want to do... if you eventually want to travel, or just stay put.

I was strongly thinking about joining the navy as a cryptotechnician, until I realized that I would not fit in very well. All you do is sit at a radio and relay comunications. You need to know at lest 2 different languages.

Well, at me it was really easy to get a job (I'm a secretary, 3rd year of apprenticeship), but if you really don't know what to do then I'd suggest you go study at a university. My sister went to school properly, then she got out and waited at least 2 years until she finally got the courage to study at our private university. She's been doing this for 1 year by now and she's really happy with what she has now. Or you could do it like me and go find a job with something that has languages involved.

*sigh*

So a few weeks ago my 3DS started having problems. When dealing with downloaded software like Monster Hunter or Luigi's Mansion, it would crash to a black screen with an error message advising me to hard quit the 3DS and report it to Nintendo support if it persisted. Sure enough it did. I normally play Monster Hunter weekly with my friends so it was a big deal to me.

I contacted Nintendo Support and explained the problem and they sent it away saying they might need to fix the motherboard and it would cost about £42 to repair. I sent it off and when I got it back I got a letter saying they'd fixed the LCD screen for £47. I was puzzled as I hadn't noticed anything wrong with the LCD screen before. Sure enough when I boot it back up the original problem hasn't been fixed. Luigi's Mansion still doesn't start properly.

So I call them up again and they apologise and offer to repair it again with no cost. I'm frustrated but I want it fixed, so I send it away again. This time I send away the SD card with it. I'm concerned as they might wipe the SD card in the repair process, which is why I didn't send it away before, but they requested I send it down this time as they are concerned the problem might be related to it.

Eventually it comes back today and I go straight to Luigi's mansion. The letter says the repair fixed the Downloaded Game issues instead of an LCD screen issue so I'm hopeful. Still the black screen saying contact support. I try Monster Hunter and get the same, at least my save data is intact I noticed. So I call up Support again and they tell me I should try reformatting the SD card. A process which will definitely wipe my save data. Over 250 hours on Monster Hunter and more than a few on everything else.

I'm going to try a few things other than reformatting the SD card. Then if it works, (hell maybe even if it doesn't) I'm going to call them back and ask for a refund on the repair because it didn't fix the issue so I essentially paid them for nothing.

However it's still disheartening.

Mmmhmm I tried to delete a game and redownload it in the hope that if the SD data was corrupted, then it would be a fix rather than wiping the whole SD card.

However the shop seems to have lost my track record of games I have downloaded meaning they ain't redownloadable...with the exception of monster hunter which came with the system. I suspected it was down to the fact that factory settings had been restored somewhat as I had to go through all the first-time stuff with the E-shop. I tried to link with my Nintendo ID again since they changed shop accounts to those sometime back in November but lo and behold...I'm not allowed to because it's already registered with another device. I guess since my device was reset it counts as a brand new device without erasing the old one.

Ugh a stressful day.

Edit: Since I went on the E-shop to find my stuff it apparently worked in retrospect and was like "Oh snap he doesn't have all this stuff" and promptly all my downloaded titles have disappeared now.

Good thing they are shut just now, it'll give me time to calm down before I call them tomorrow.

Didn't think Nintendo would offer such poor customer service. Sorry to hear about your problems, Pierre.

If it makes you feel any better, the SD Card on the Android phone I use as an MP3 player mysteriously wiped itself yesterday. A dozen or so gigs of music collected over like half a decade are now lost in space-time :viola:

I'm getting annoyed by the fact that a friend of mine can be a total idiot and yet still be so popular. We're in our 20's now - why is this still a thing? And more importantly, why am I so bothered by it? Curse the day I became a competitive jerk :grey:

Mom's pissed at me cause I didn't do any housework. Well excuse me for being SICK! Considering the neausea and dizzyness I had earlier, I simply couldn't DO a lot. I emptied the dishwasher and that's all I could do before having to lie down again.

"Well isn't it nice that you don't have a job and nice that I have two"... Excuse me for being SICK! Again! She fully knows how this feels, she felt just the same way yesterday. Lucky for her it was on a weekend, but not for me. Sorry, next time, I'll tell my body to rise against me earlier!

Jeez! Even IF I had a job, considering the way I felt earlier, I would probably have asked to go home early...!

Your mother seems like a bitch, at least the way you make her out to sound. I know she's probably a really nice person, but the way you keep on talking about her, you make her seem like a total bitch! Then again, you wouldn't be you if you didn't have something to complain about. JK. :gant:

She's actually a pretty cool person, but when she gets on my case on lack of job (something I know very well myself, thank you) or how I haven't registered with the job agency (which I don't do because it's a WASTE OF TIME. I would go there once every two weeks, just to sit in a person's office for 30 minutes while they look for potentials jobs for me, the SAME THING I do at home, without the necessity of going outside) or, like here, about doing housework when I am not feeling up to it, it's just annoying.

Not really a vent per se, but I've been asking my girlfriend to open up to me more emotionally. She's the type of person who hardly shows her feelings and I'm sort of perceiving there to be an emotional wall of sorts between us. Don't get me wrong, we're really happy together. We really get along and there hasn't even been any arguments between us yet either.

So does anyone have any ideas on how I can get her to open up and be more trusting of me? We've been going out for a little over two months if that's any indication of the time span.

Give her more time, some people just take more than "just" two months to open up. I'm a pretty closed off person, I even feel I'm emotionally stunted... I still have trouble being emotionally open with my husband. Or even my mother...

That's what I was thinking. I'll see what happens over the next few weeks-couple of months. So far, we've been doing great. At least we're off to a good start. I just hope it lasts and won't end because of some stupid mistake that I do. :udgey:

I really hate it to get sick, knowing that I can't work (yes, I actually like it to work) and it's just pissing me off ugh. I don't want to spend time in my bed when I could do something more refreshing.. like working my butt off.

I was in vocational school yesterday, only for 3 hours because my illness got worse by each minute and damn, the teacher didn't send me home straight away but I was about to fall off the chair because my mind always got blacked out and extremely dizzy. After a while, he gave it up and gave me a letter with his sign that I'm allowed to go home.

Damn teachers.

:adrian: *once again on the topic of job applications* Again, I have two jobs and you have none.
:lana: I'd like one myself, mom. But nobody will give me one.
:adrian: Well, don't be so picky.

So yeah... FUCK every employer who refuses to hire someone who has no experience in their job. How the fuck is someone supposed to gain some fucking experience when nobody ever fucking hires someone who has no experience? Fucking Kafkaesque situation! And fuck you employers even more! Just cause I don't have a training of 3 years in a specific job don't mean I can't do the fucking job.
What, are you seriously trying to tell me to work in an office and file stuff and take phone calls, I need a fucking education of at least two years with a minimum of 3 years of experience in working in that job to get that type of job? No I fucking don't! I know how to do this shit! And even if I don't, I can learn faster than the time it takes you to sit on your ass and wait for someone to finish that fucking education part of it!

If you need proof, go back a little in this thread and you'll find a list of things you won't even consider doing.

But you have to admit, she has a point. I, personally, don't see how employers can expect to get someone with good experience in an area, when they're trying to get said experience by holding a job in said area.

However, this is about the 48th time or so she's brought this up... It's getting to be a dead horse-beating... :ron:

Yes because things can only bother you once and you can never bring them up again.

I fail to see the point in gaining experience in volunteering, if I'm not gonna go volunteer as a job later on. I am applying for office jobs, I have experience in that and overall am well adapted to that. I'm applying to fast food, I'm too overqualified for that. I'm applying as a cosmetician, despite the lotions giving me a migraine. I'm also applying for cashier jobs, again, I have experience and can do that and all.

The places I don't apply to are those that don't pay (and I've said it before, I refuse to work if I don't get paid) or things that I really know I can't get unless I have the training. For things like medicine, full-on law and similar, I can understand that. I avoid those job offers cause I know I'd never get it.

And yes, I will continue to complain about this because it's a prolonged problem that still bothers me.

There's nothing particularly wrong with voluntary charity work (unless it costs you an absolute fortune to get to) it's a noble cause and it's valuable customer service experience amongst other things, plus it just gets you out in the day.

Cat don't you have some kind of qualification in beauty and cosmetics but the lotions give you migraines? That's a real shame :ron:

Oh, you can continue to complain all you want.

But if you've done nothing to change your situation, and are still complaining about the same exact thing, at some point you need to acknowledge you're part of the problem.

lmao, did you just say the phrase "I avoid those job offers"?

Well, good for you. It must be nice to be so privileged.

Hey, I try to change my situation every day by sending out applications!
If nobody hires me, it's not my fault that I am still in the same situation.
I should totally write a manga story titled "It's not my fault that I'm jobless"

And yes, Pierre, I am a trained cosmetician. It was during the training that I realized that perfumed lotions give me migraines. Also a reason I overall avoid heading into perfume shops or any other scented stuff. My nose is sensitive and it sets off a migraine easily.

It's not a matter of being privileged, but knowing your limits. I mean, what's the point of applying to a job in a Doctor's Office where the first requirement is "finished training in Medical profession" when you know you don't have that and your application will be thrown into the trash as soon as they see you don't have that?

I'll gladly apply as an office worker or receptionist in a Law Office, but I know I can't do the exact same things my mother does, who is a trained legal asisstant.

Here's the thing: The world doesn't owe you shit.

All I've seen from you is your rejecting ideas because you think you're ABOVE them. If you feel you're too "overqualified" for a job (what does that even mean?), don't start complaining when the gaps in your resume/CV become a problem.

I get really frustrated when I see people who've brought misfortune upon themselves and then blame the rest of the world for it.

If the world don't owe me shit, what do I owe the world?
My volunteering for a year isn't gonna end up solving all of the world's problems.

It's not really a matter of 'owing the world' it's more a matter if something doesn't get done then eventually you'll have nothing.. Right now I imagine you are probably dependent on your mother for living situations and food from the way you talk about her. This point in life I figure it's just a battle to survive on our own because our parent's support won't be around forever.

We ain't entitled to a job just because we try hard sadly. Having the qualifications and the like helps but it's not always a guarantee. I understand some courses have programs set up that put you straight into a placement or employment at the end of them and that's great but those positions are rare I hear.

Yes it is unfair that people are always looking for experience and so people with no experience are never given a break but we all have to try and start somewhere, no matter where it is. Neglecting to apply to jobs because you are overqualified strikes me as odd because I know people who have been turned down from positions because they are overqualified.

Still got me curious, what happened to the job at that Spa place you had? The one you were complaining about because it was dead quiet all the time.

I got an e-Mail two days after I worked there, saying they had picked someone else. Considering I was not given a chance to massage anyone and only do reception work, and the person they were test-working the next day was a Massage Therapist and not a "simple" Cosmetician... might have to do with that.
Strangely enough, I'm looking up jobs and the same spa is still looking for people.

I'm not saying I'm not applying to jobs I'm overqualified for. I am applying to such jobs, because even if it's a job I'm overqualified for and it's basically turning burgers at McDonald's or so, it's still a job that gets me money. The jobs I am not applying for, are the ones that I know I would never get past the initial stage of sending in an application - ie. work in a doctor's office as a sort of nurse, because I know I don't have the qualifications.

My problem with volunteering is that I am sick and tired of not having any money of my own. Even if it isn't much, I want something so I don't feel like I have to plan several days ahead before doing something semi-spontaneous. I can't get up and think, "Hey, I'll go to the store and get myself a little snack", you know, like a cup of noodles or a sandwich.

Also, what would be the point in volunteering? It's human resource/social stuff. Well, that's nice and all, but it doesn't help when I'm trying to apply for a job in other sections. Being social is nice, but if it doesn't give me the experience an employer may want, I'm basically wasting time.
