People say I'm a nice person,but when you start calling me girly names like "Doll","Princess","Angel" and "Dear" you better watch out! I try to be nice but have a bad temper at times. |

It depends on the people around me at the time. If I'm surrounded with nice people, I'll be nice to them. If I'm in a room full of asshats, I simply treat them as they treat me. Generally, though, I usually try to be somewhere in between nice and mean. |

If someone is a prick, I'm not going to be nice to them. I'll be civilized and refrain from cursing them out with every breath, but I'm not going to invite them over my house to play video games or something like that. People who get me will think that I'm a nice person, I guess

I consider myself a nice person, but I don't care about parties and similar, and I don't know alot of people that I actually have a fellow interest with. I'm also too aloft for most people (I'll take a philosophical debate over a rave party any day). So I'm quite hard for people to get along with. |

I'm not nice, I'm annoying and nasty. Ask the people who share a table with me at school; they see grumpy me every day. The boy I sit next to gets it worse. He's the target of bottled-up annoyance, all day, every day. But we share something in common: a love for video games. Not the same games, but still games. Camp brought our class closer together and though people still don't like me, at least it's not at that stage where everyone but your friends hate you anymore. I guess I grew up and began sharing interests. It's usually the boys who I argue with, but I get more tomboyish every day and am starting to get along with them. Doesn't stop me getting into fights easily or being annoying. |

I think I'm too nice for my own good sometimes. I'm too polite and always willing to help others out. But on the other hand there are times where I just feel like being a stubborn, snappy, argumentative asshole. |

I don't think I am. Almost feel like saying I am sure I am not. I try to be nice and friendly, especially when I'm in public or when I am at a workplace. But overall I may smile, but may be absolutely horrible on the inside. C-A |

I don't know if I'm "nice", but I can say that I try to be friendly and I'm sociable. Different people have different opinions about my behavior and unfortunately, some of them don't like my impulsiveness nor strong views on controversial subjects. |

I think so. Most people tend to like me and tell me I'm nice. I do try my best to be nice and friendly to everyone I talk to, but I know I can't please everyone. Even if someone doesn't like me, I still try to be friendly with them because I feel it's better to do that than treat that person like dirt because I know I'd never wanted to be treated that way and I don't think they'd deserve to be treated poorly no matter what. |

Yeah, I consider myself to be a nice person.  While I don't go out of my way to be friendly, I try to be courteous to everyone I meet, and I don't have a quick temper. If someone is rude to me or I just plain don't like them, though, I usually try to ignore them. If I absolutely have to speak to them, I'm usually pretty short, but not overtly "mean."

This is actually a really good question. I've been reading some of the replies, and I think the people who've said "I can be ___, but other times I'm not" are onto something. Niceness is really subjective. I think we all have the capacity to be both kind and cruel to others; how people perceive us depends on how we treat them and the people they care about. I guess having a perception of yourself can affect your behavior, but that's not a given either. I've known self-identified 'good' people who use it as a way to criticize and manipulate others ("I'm saying this hurtful thing because I care about you! It's really for your own good!") and people who thought they were 'bad people' who were still always there when their loved ones needed them. I'm sure I'm a nice person to some people, but I must be an insufferable jerk to others. |

To be honest, most of the overly "nice people" I know are or manipulative jerks who use the "extremely outgoing" mask as a façade or people who are genuinely warm but aren't reliable for a long-term and serious friendship. On the other hand, the superficially critical, strict jerks are the real loyal, principled and reliable ones when you get to know them better. |
