When you start counting at April?
When you count the months backwards?
#2) Can we move the single one on the right side to the left side and add it to 101?

As wonderful as Adrian in black's answer is, perhaps when it's April of the previous year?

That works, but there's also a different solution. Maybe I should have phrased the question "When does April come before Jan., Feb., and March without starting at April". Also, for #2, you can only move the digits in the expression "1+102".
Spoiler: Hint for #1
It's in a book.(That pretty much gives it away, but...)
Spoiler: Hint for #2
The digit that is moved doesn't move very far

Although the above statement is false, can you add ONE STRAIGHT line (Other than =/=) to make it true)

@MDM
Spoiler:
for 101 = 1+102, you can take the vertical line out of the +, make it horizontal, and put it in front to get -(1-102), which is -(-101), which is 101.

@shadow
Spoiler:
Add a vertical line to the second + to make it a 4. Then you get 5+545=550. (I'll admit, the first time I saw it I did want to =/=)

Mask de Masque, that 1st hint doesn't help at all... BP, MDM said one digit, so that doesn't work.

I also wanted to do the =/=. Pfft.
EDIT: *facepalm* Of course! Take the "2" in 102 and make it a power, so the equation is 101= 1 + 10 to the power of 2.

Alright then, I'll be more specific:
Spoiler: Hint 2 for #1
There are many different versions of this book, published by different companies, but they're all pretty much the same thing.
Spoiler: And if you're still stumped
It starts with a "D".

The exponent thing was correct. I was going to post another puzzle, but I'm on my DSi right now... long story short, I typed up the puzzle and was about to post when I discovered that half the page, including the "Submit" button, was missing. Long story shorter, the DSi browser is a piece of crap. I'll just have to post the puzzle tomorrow.
EDIT: What's this!? It seems the layout of the CR forums has changed whilist I was typing my post! Ooh... EPIC BATTLE... Ah, new smilies! And just in time for the US release of AAI!

This thread is DEAD.
Here's a puzzle I found on Wikipedia.
Image
In this image, there is a blue castle in the north, a red castle in the south, a church in the east, and an inn in the center. In order to start from the blue castle, cross every bridge, and end at the inn, you need to add an 8th bridge. In order to start at the red castle, cross every bridge, and end at the inn, you need to add a 9th bridge. In order to start at the church, cross every bridge, and end at the inn, you need to add a 10th bridge. Where would these bridges go?
Say, that reminds me of a puzzle! Have you ever heard this one, Luke?

#2- As Patricia found a tap, and Gareth found a rag, Pamela found a map. The items they found are reverse spellings of the first syllables of their respective names.

Is it a trick question? I mean you name the dogs after you buy them, they don't come pre-named.

How many "F"s can you find in this sentence?

I admit, this one got me.
