Well it's impossible to be polite and honest simutaneously every time. If it's bothering you, you should be honest - living with other person always requires adjustments, after all.

Remember to address the issue and not make it brutally honest.

The problem she takes everything to heart. I come to work in a bad mood because I hate mornings, so spend a few hours just working and not talking, and she told my manager I was bullying her, so telling her she's got stinky feet would not do me any favours XD

Pierre wrote:
If it's at work s'far as I know you mention the issue to a manager and just ask to be kept anonymous and they'll get on at them for personal hygiene or something like that.

Oh that's a good idea, it would sound far better coming from my manager actually.

@dangerousoffender - yeah she's a colleague. If I was living with her to cover her stinking hooves hahaha..

XP It's hardly fair to blame her for being sensitive.

Though yeah I'd definitely bring the matter up with a manager, I mean if you went to her and said something, the fact she accused you of bullying before would look much worse when she goes up to a manager and tells them you said she smells.

There's nothing wrong with being sensitive, as long as it isn't overly sensitive.

As for getting the manager to tell her about any complaint about smells, let me tell you from personal experience, it's even more annoying when someone works as the messenger to it. I've had classmates tell me to my face I stink (and literally - they did not know that I had a serious illness that had to do with smelling... not so fresh at times) and I've had teachers pull me aside to tell me about complaints.

Both was annoying, but I think having someone else do it for you is just a sign of cowardice. If they have something to complain about in regards to my work or anything else, I want them to tell me to my face. It's like the Ignore Function in places - I think it's just something cowards use to avoid any confrontation with someone.

:/ Cowardice isn't really the matter, she ain't trying to pick a fight here. Hygiene issues in the work place are obviously a sensitive matter and so they should be handled properly by a manager. It guarantees folk's anonymity as well so that they can still work well together afterwards.

It's how it SHOULD be done, doing it otherwise is probably going to result in a warning from management should the girl take it wrong way and break down into tears. :ron:

I'm so upset that in Louisiana there is a law that you can get fined for throwing cigarettes on the floor. Why the hell isn't this law everywhere?!I fucking wish they can just implement it on the rest of the USA. Maybe then. People will smoke less since they won't be able to throw it away easily.

To be honest Cat I'd rather be thought of as cowardly (anonymous coward anyway), than get accused of bullying again. I don't like confrontation and I don't think there's anything wrong with not liking confrontation. She is overly sensitive which is irritating, but as colleagues we spend a lot of time together and I wouldn't be able to handle such a tense atmosphere for 8 hours a day for a week at a time.

Personally, it doesn't bother me when people throw their butts onto the ground - and I don't know if there is a law against it in Germany. But what I cannot stand is when they throw them on the ground and not stamp the out.
Just pisses me off, at least stamp it out you addicted jerk-off. What I'd like to do is pick the butt up and shove it down their throat or put it out on their arm. What I really do is, I generally stamp it out for them, although I might slide it along to really make it disintergrate.

Also, working with someone with whom you may not be on good terms with...... eh, face it, it happens. I didn't like one of the supervisors at the cinema because - instead of even thinking of maybe helping me clean up a room where people have dumped their popcorn on the floor and seats - she "reminds" me that I have to be fast and get this place clean within these few minutes before letting people in again.
Just because you're a supervisor doesn't mean you can't help out! The wife of the cinema's owner helped out at the snackbar when it got flooded or even cleaning up when we either had to hurry or there was much to clean up.

Also, you should be able to keep any personal dislike for a colleague separate from working. Yeah, you may not be on good terms, but you still gotta work together. Just go remember how much you don't get along in the spare time.

I wish folk would step it out as well...but I guess here in Scotland the ground is damp enough to extinguish anything.

Though just because you CAN work professionally in spite of dislike, doesn't mean you shouldn't try and stay on good terms with someone. :ron: Take it from me genuine chemistry with colleagues makes the difference between loving and hating a job.

Yeah I know that pain back in high school. Didn't help that the person they were dating was a bit of a womaniser and still in the same circle of friends so I didn't especially hate him either. Got my sympathies there.

Wait, is this the part where y'all complain about liking someone and feeling hurt and all that because they're off with someone else, although you never told them how you felt? Or is it after you told them how you felt about them, but it's the "Let's just be friends" route?

In my case she eventually dumped the guy because...well he was a womaniser I think...but I'd moved on before they'd broken up.

I hate that feeling. For me it was different though because before I dated my girlfriend she was dating this guy which sucked :sadshoe: but luckily he broke up with her and now me and her been dating for 4 years . :pearl-blush: If she's the one then hopefully it will work out and it's best if you tell her how you really feel before its too late.

I never told her because I was a bit unsure. I'm pretty sure that she liked me some time ago to but we live a bit from each other and I wanted to meet her first to be absolutely sure how I felt. And we were going to meet this fall but instead she met this guy two times (or three including this weekend).

And I'm aware that there's mostly excuses from my part and there's a ton of things I could've done better but I can't stop some of these feelings bubbling up anyway.

Sure man that's ok, this is a place to let out those troubles.
Though you say she "met this guy two times" does that mean they are dating or just hung out together? Then again apparently my views on dating are a bit fuddy-duddy :ron: Apparently you can date without being boyfriend and girlfriend these days.

Good on ya man :)
When it was my case I realised it wasn't fair of me to feel saddened by her going with someone else, after all it's not like she was cheating on me as we never had anything in the first place. Just gotta respect her wishes and if it goes south perhaps the opportunity will come round again.

Well, I think it's kind of silly to wallow in your misery when the girl you like is out with someone else and you even go so far as to blame the girl, maybe even give her the cold shoulder, without ever telling her why. That is... such a cliché drama thing put into TV stuff. Putting it into real life is just terrible.

I had a crush on a guy friend once. I was wondering more whether I did like him or if it was just a fleeting thing. Few months later, it was gone and I can't even say it was a crush anymore. I didn't tell him cause it was actually nothing. Plus, I wouldn't be all, "How dare he go out with someone when I love him so much in the shadows!?" because that is just plain silly.

I worked as roomservice for a hotel yesterday, from 3 pm to 11 pm. Overall nothing too bad, except my knees and feet killing me now. But my problem came really late in the evening. We offer roomservice until 11 pm and I get a call from reception at 10:50 pm that room 250 wanted to order food and drinks.
No problem, kitchen was still in use and all, they begin to whip up the food and I get a call from room 250, asking to bring the drinks right away. Hell if I know why, maybe they want to be drunk by the time it's the new year. I grab the orange juice they ordered and a bottle of vodka cause, according to reception, they wanted an entire bottle of martini.

By the way, I looked at the menu on the computer for the order and saw no option for martini.
Since Martini is made by mixing vodka with other stuff, I brought a bottle of vodka.

Of course, I get told it's not what they ordered and I go down and ask about Martini Bianco, the specific martini thing they ordered. Fine enough, my supervisor helps me with that and I bring the bottle. Oh, no, wait, that's wrong, they did not want an entire bottle, they ordered from that menu - which actually did not say how much the one-serving would be - and I agree to go down again and just bring them two fucking glasses of it already. At that point, I had also brought them the finished food.

I bring them the two glasses... and I get asked to bring them some champagne or something, but I told them that it is past 11 pm and roomservice has stopped serving at 11 pm - and by that time, it was 11:25 pm. He says that they were told drinks are open 24 hours a day and I said, indeed, but that must mean going to the bar on the first floor itself and not roomservice. Roomservice is only available until 11 pm.
Finally got out of there and just as I was being given permission to go home, he calls again.
Clicked him away and went home.

Goddammit, people, can't you be a bit more considerate? If that guy is the one that called me around 10:30 pm to ask how long roomservice would serve, then he should know by my answer then and not order 10 minutes before we close roomservice.
Yeah yeah, the customer is king, but that doesn't mean they can't piss you off. What are those people doing in a hotel 10:30 pm onwards, anyway? They should be outside, whether to look at fireworks that have been setting off for hours or to go drinking somewhere else.

I wouldn't have patience for that. I would have thrown the drinks in their face or something.

Unfortunately, I have a high limit for patience during work and a strong work ethic. I do stuff for my work, although I may hate it. But I did think, "I hope you choke on it!" when I handed them over and left. Also didn't help that the room was far from the employee-entrance/elevator, forcing me to walk there with my crippling knees.

I really don't know how you managed to stay calm after all that. I commend you on that. Unfortunately for me, I lack patience and that (what you had to go through) would have awoken a demon in me.

Had an annoying trip coming home from Uni today. Firstly, I missed my original train home so I had to get another one and switch because all the other trains ran express through my station. It was also pretty warm (32C), so staying out in the sun was pretty draining. In addition to that, one of train stations on my line is having railworks done over the summer, so they've been having bus replacements between the stations, which is a pain to go walking from the station to the bus terminal and hoping that you manage to get a seat on one of the cramped buses, not to mention it takes way longer.

In all it was just a lousy trip home. Heck, I finished class at like 4:15pm and didn't get home until after 6, when the trip is usually 30-40min. What a drainer. Also I forgot to charge my 3DS last night so no gaimz to pass the time. -_-

That's why I started working at a Distribution Centre for a big supermarket chain franchise. No fussy customers, no 'its 5 minutes before closing time but we got this thing that needs to get done quick' bullshit. Just working 8 hours plus 30 minutes breaks moving goods and going home when the buzzer rings. It pays good, the time flies when you are working hard and you get to drive heavy machinery, which is way more fun than I anticipated before.

Man I feel your pain. When I did a mandatory internship for my study I needed to travel from my village to Amsterdam every day (5 times a week) for 20 weeks. This was trip of 110 Kilometers (68 miles I believe) and I did this completely with Public Transit services, meaning 2 trips of 2 hours and 15 minutes (4.30 total) daily. This does not include the many times delay occurred or when it snowed, some rides were completely cancelled.
Charge your DS and brace yourself for the worst case man, you don't want to bore yourself hours out of your mind.
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

S'why I always carry a good ol' Paperback Book with me these days. Just in case my games die.

I generally carry a book with me when I'm out on the public transport. But if I know I'm gonna be on a train or bus for a longer time, I bring my DS or PSP as well. Although I mostly use the handheld, because reading for prolonged time on a train tends to give me headaches.

My girlfriend has the same problem with anything on shaky transport. Even her games she doesn't play while on the move because they give her headaches sadly.

What about an e-reader? I'd highly recommend something like a Kindle to anyone still reading paperbacks. Single best gadget I've bought since early last year (and I bought a freaking 3DS in between).

I've come to a stunning realisation as to why my social skills seem a bit lacking. I used to think that I was just bad at making conversation, but an incident today made me realise that I'm mostly just bad at adding to dumb conversations.

I was at KFC with a fairly large group friends of mine after a lecture, and we're having a nice, well-flowing chat until two friends of one of my friends at the table I was sitting on coincidentally turn up. At this point, the conversation took a turn for the stupid, revolving around the meaning of some silly innuendo and how it was so silly that one of those friends started talking in slang like some other person and ugh I feel sick just writing about it. Also social networking was brought up ALOT - Facebook and selfies and God knows what else (IMO popular social networking websites are having a ridiculously detrimental effect on actual socialising, but that's a story for another day).

I really wanted to add to this conversation somehow (hello human nature), but at the same time I felt I was losing brain cells so rapidly I couldn't even be bothered paying attention any more. So I just....zoned out, and started chatting to my (better, I have to say) friends on another table.

This isn't to say I think other people are stupid or anything - I just have a really low tolerance for anything that offends my own idea of a good conversation. So unless I learn to accept that people will sometimes, quite frankly, chat shit, I'm probably not going to have as many friends as other people. However, I also don't want to sacrifice my personality/identity if I can help it, so it's a bit of a catch-22. What do...

Sounds identical to my social problems, sometimes people just start talking about stuff that sounds really dumb to me and I can't add anything to those conversations.

Though the point of carrying a paperback book is:
A) It's cheaper
B) As was the point of the post above, it's not dependant on battery power so I can always get entertainment for it.

Glad you can relate Pierre...

My brother got a Kobo for like £40 the other day, battery life is usually in the dozens of hours and if you're a creative person you can get books without paying too much for them, if you know what I mean. ;p
