And usually hate it.

But then.... I AM Northern ¬_¬

Hehe

I do occasionally get bursts of "WHAT A DAY TO BE BRITISH!!!!!" though. Rarely! Never during the Eurovision Song Contest YIIIIKES!

I facking HATE the weather! Today was so sunny but my hands nearly froze off! Can not WAIT until summer. That is... if we HAVE a summer.

Bring on the global warming ;^)

I'm technically not British, but I, too, prefer the climate and weather across the pond. I'd rather have lots of rain than lots of snow. And also U's make words seem... sophisticated, somehow. Although, up here spelling is mostly the same as opposed to the USican folk. However, I think we use Z(ed) in place of S when writing words such as 'categorize'.

Perhaps I'll move to the UK when I'm older...

The bad thing is that games are usually released later...

I am pretty sure the US must have some sort of school funding system as well.

Also I love the weather here, it's brilliant! *is an atmospheric person*

Then stay the hell away from London. It rains around here, like, once every 2 months if you're lucky. And those are usually only a couple of minute long showers.
And we generally only get snow once in March or April so that doesn't really matter either.

I like 'zed'. Personally, I think it has a superior sonance to 'zee'.

Actually, I was just saying I preferred rain to snow (since I dislike snow with a passion), but I have nothing against sunny weather. Although, I've read that it does rain quite a bit in London... hm... I suppose my sources were incorrect.

Maybe that's just the south-west part. I think it rains a bit in central London.

You can leave here by 16 legally, but most of the time, your high school education isn't complete and you are considered a drop out.

Another thing, I suppose the UK isn't really known for it's cuisine, is it? I mean, when I think of British food, all that comes to mind is fish & chips or bangers & mash. And tea, I guess, but that's not really British, seeing as it comes from India and the Orient. Other countries, however, are associated with dishes that one might describe as 'exotic' or 'exquisite'. You know, if one were a grandiose type of person.

I rarely eat what you would call british. I eat a lot of foreign food, which is pretty damn easy to come by (Especially in the city) as it's so multi cultural.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Britain isn't known for it's cuisine. So, for food, I'd much rather go to Italy or somewhere.

Even though we leave out the "u," we still pronounce it "cul-ur" around here.

Yellow Magician wrote:

Public schools are funded by property taxes here. So some schools are very well funded, and others are not. In my state, we have a Robin Hood Act that requires the richer school districts to help fund the poorer ones. It pissed a lot of people off, and I'm still not sure its really helped any.

I've always wanted to go to London. I'm sure if I liked it enough it would be a place I would consider living.

Start secondary school at 11. I didn't know you could leave at 16 in US though!

I started drinking at 16. Don't bother much these days coz drunk Looby is an idiot.

Full English Breakfast I suppose. And a Sunday Roast!

Unfortunately though I can enjoy neither of these as I'm veggie. Foreign food is nicer anyway.

I've only ever been once. It's a 4 + hour train journey away. I was a bit disappointed though coz the part I went to was basically like my home town..... just with a different accent. I want to go to the proper part of London. With Big Ben and all that :will:

I'm going in summer though to meet with some friends :edgy:

XD Yeah you can.
By the age of 16, its 'your choise' whether to go to school or not.
But if you want a future, most of the time you stay in school until graduation.
Its possible to be successfull with out it though I guess.

Normally you leave at 18 though, when most kids graduate.

I have no GCSE's and I have a fairly decent job. It's not the job I dreamed of but I am fairly thick anyway so I don't reckon I'd have gotten far =^P. You can stay on for another year to do sixth form if you get decent GCSE's.

I couldn't stay till 18 though. If I was American I'd have been a drop out :redd:

A few months ago, we had a British/American discussion in the IRC chatroom. One of the things that came up were that Cookies = Biscuits. And therefore, Cookie Monster must be Biscuit Monster in Britain, or so I thought.

And then it degraded into a talk about how our childhoods are now ruined post humous-ly now that Cookie Monster eats Veggies and stuff.

I'm Canadian, does that make me sort of British? I mean, the queen is on our money and all. XD *is shot*

I used to write color as "colour" and "favor" as "favour" and such, but living in the USA for so long... I kind of dropped them. ^_^;; I do like "zed" rather than "zee" though.
