Post subject:  Musical Instruments?

Wow. My first topic besides my intro post.

So yeah. I was just wondering if anyone plays any instruments here. I played clarinet for four years, then got bored/sick of it and switched to the guitar. I've currently been playing that for two. Then, I got a bass guitar and have been playing for a little less than six months (But I'm pretty good because of the slight similarities to a guitar). Finally, I have an electronic drumset that I got about a month ago, but once again, I'm not that bad because I screwed around with the drumset in the band room at school a few months before my mom got it for me (And I now owe her $900 XD).

What about you guys? Any musical talent flow through your veins?

Music is part of my soul, as well as drawing and eating and sleeping.

I've played the flute for seven years now. I've marched and performed with my schools for five.
I consider myself one of the better flutes, if only because I actually care about the class. :/ The majority of the band just goofs off and drives the teacher insane.

Ooh! Ooh! I can play Epona's Song and Zelda's Lullaby on the Ocarina!
And that's... pretty much it for my musical ability. I can rack up a mean high score on Donkey Konga though. And play the bass-line to White Stripes- Seven Nation Army on the keyboard. But I'm not exactly musically gifted...
I do like Music Class though, if only for the fact that we've watched Joseph & The Technicolour Dreamcoat 4 times this year and the whole class knows all the songs of by heart, so we sing them in every class and drive the teachers insane. And I can actually get out of assesments by saying it's against my religion to play music. O_o

I played oboe in middle school, but didn't realize you couldn't play it in marching band, so I had to give up band when I started high school. I didn't really enjoy playing it at the time (partially because I had a really critical band director), but now I kind of miss playing an instrument. D:

I can play keys, clarinet, and saw. Trying to pick up guitar via plucking around a few hours a week at a friend's house, hopefully gonna get a bass for my birthday.

Only thing I can do with the guitar though is chords and "haruka kanata" so whatever.

Amen, my friend. Amen.

I write songs, too. For the Winter Arts Festival at school, I wrote a little pop-rock jam called "Deliverance" thate everyone loved (I even had people come up to me and basically tell me they were my fanboy/girl... it was cool). The Spring Arts Festival, which is on June 1st, is gonna rock even louder because my new song, "Lonely State Of Affairs," is... just cool. I'll force my band teacher to record them and stuff so I can share it and have more fanpeople X3 (Kidding about the fanpeople part).

writing songs is overrated.

writing noise is what heroes do. noise until you feel it.

I guess, yeah. I do it when I'm bored and sick of all the music I've been listening to. And besides. Most of my songs start out as poems that I reread a few days after writing them, and then I go, "... This is GENIUS~" and do my thing. So yeah. I just try to incorporate my talents into each other. My drawings suck, so screw that.... And hardly anyone reads my writing these days, so when I put them into songs, the intended message gets across all the same, which is what I wanted in the first place.

I've been playing the piano for 2 years and I might be thinking of playing the drums.

Oh , I play the glockenspiel in the school orchestra and I've finally got a piano part!

I meant it more as "actual music sux because I listen to a lot of noise and am an asshole and say these things" and not ragging on whatever talents you may have

I play piano okay and violin badly. I love the violin though. I only wish that the pieces sounded as good when I played them as they did when played by the pros XD

LiKe Urby said, music is huge part of my life too.

I've played trumpet in my school band since sixth grade. Up until my freshmen year, I was the only girl in our class who played trumpet. This school year I couldn't do Band (*sniffle*), but I can next year as a Junior.

TRUMPET BABY. I love my Band class. That class is what got me into orchestra, jazz, football, gave me tons of school spirit, everything. 8D We march too. We were in the Rose Parade in Oregon last year.

I play the guitar (electric mostly) quite a bit, and I dabble in the saxophone, which I used to play (alto) in the school band.

I apologize for having so many parentheses in this post (I use them too often).

When I was a kid, I used to play the Piano...badly, but I was able to play it. During my teen years, I've played the Alto & Baritone Saxophones...now, uh...I don't really play any instruments.

My favourite instrument to use is my voice.

Okay, that was lame.

For the instruments I actually use... well, I've dabbled in quite a few. Currently I play the piano, but I'm teaching myself to play the guitar (on my dad's 20+ year old acoustic one), and the mandolin (on a badly tuned 60+ year old mandolin that once belonged to my grandfather).

Aside from that, I played the violin for a few months, played recorder for a few years, and like to mess around with percussion stuff (like drums).

And I'm a music student, so I get to play with lots of instruments when I'm in the school's music room. Wheeeee~

Post subject:  Re: Musical Instruments?

I play a lot. :| From Trombone to cello to accordion. I'll usually pick up an instrument I have to play and proceed to learn and practice it for six months or so at a time. By then, I'll usually have a general understanding of how it works and how to play it, in which case I get bored and replace it with a new one.

At the moment, I've taken an interest in the baglama, and if I ever get the chance, I'd enjoy learning the sitar, as it's supposd to be incredibly difficult.

Meh... well I started on the flugel horn last year, and I'm doing my grade 3 this summer (oh no) and I got a guitar for christmas, but I dont know what to do with it quite yet. I've just learned open strings by myself... o.0

Currently, I play the drums.

I used to play the guitar, but after I cut my fingers on the strings so many damn times and couldn't keep them on the frets whenever I tried to play something, I stopped. I also tried playing the piano, but apparently I wasn't fast enough and got some scales mixed up.

Yeah, drums it is... And I'm also learning how to play the saxophone for the sole purpose of being able to play "Godot ~ Fragrance of Dark Coffee" on it. :P

I'm one of those stereotypical Asian kids who was forced to endure the violin until the end of high school.

But I am told I have a good singing voice, and the gift of "relative pitch."

I should take up an instrument(s?) one of these days, once I'm done being a lazy bum.

I've played Guitar and have a basic knowledge of it. Though not too impressive and have been out of practice for awhile.

However, I do still carry guitar picks in my wallet.

I sing, play the bass, used to play the trombone, can dabble in the piano and harmonica.

But mainly I'm just a singer. I've got a pretty good baritone/bass, IMHO.

Keyboard
Harmonica
Recorder

(I know none of these extremely well, but I picked up keyboard fast ^_^)

Um... I can sing? Payne

I used to be really good on the piano, too, but I stopped taking lessons years ago because the teacher was a total ass. Later when my parents split, we got rid of our piano because it was too big for my mom's apartment (it was hers; my dad didn't want it). I would kill to have it back... I just use the one in the choir room now. Even though my choir director bitches at me when I do.

Mostly my forte is singing. EET EES MEIN PASSION. I also have a pretty decent ear for music and can plunk out several tunes on the piano entirely by ear. I would kill to be able to write music, but I don't know how...

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I've played the Flute for 6 years and the piccolo for 3, but I'm pretty rusty.

I've been playing the piano since I was I thing, seven years old. So far I can play Moon light Sonata, Bethoven's Sonata Allegro 13, Pachabels Canon (But sadly, it's way too easy.) and I am currently working on Mozarts Fantasia in D minor and the SL-9 theme.

I played Violin for two or three years, but it got in the way alot of the times and I eventually got sick of it.
