I wish I did... :larry:

I can manage stumble my way through most Japanese websites by trial and error, but most conversations and descriptions are lost to me and those online translators are worthless pieces of crap. To add insult to injury, the PoS colleges that I live by don't offer any Japanese language classes, only Spanish, French, and Latin (I took 5 years of Latin and I don't remember a thing...)
/rant

So, do any of you speak or can read/write any other languages--other than English?
Too lazy... hur hur.

I can speak, read, and write Thai since it is my mother language. I can also read a tiny bit of Japanese but my skill is still too limited to be of any use, though.

A few:

Japanese - I'm quite a neophyte at this, and only started learning it so I could play Gyakuten Saiban 3. It takes me some time to get all the Hiragana right, and I just get lost when it comes to Kanji. -.-

German - I know a few words and phrases.

Finnish - Haha, I only knew a few phrases, thanks to this one episode of Late Night with Conan O' Brien, and all of these phrases have something to do with letting Tarja Halonen win the election. :P

Latin - Okay, so it's a dead language. The class was required, so... yeah.

Spanish - Currently learning it. I find the intonation and pronunciation of words that start with a "J" incredibly hard. -.-

You really were obsessed with that gag, or? :morgan: I never knew it was that remarkable people started remembering Finnish phrases :p

Other than English, I speak 3 languages fluently (Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian (Finnmark accent, my mothertongue)) , 2 moderately (German and French) and 2 basically (Danish, Japanese). It sounds crazy :knock-knock: but I've been interested in languages for a long time and I like learning them, and people say I have the ability to learn them fast. I'm considering learning more Japanese and Spanish as soon as I have time.

I saw re-runs of that episode more than ten times. (Thank you, Jim, for destroying my cable. -.-) Thus, I learned how to say:

"Vote Tarja Halonen for President! She will ensure Finland's prosperity!"

Swedish- I'd be kinda stupid if I didn't know this since it's my mothertongue >_>

Japanese- I know a few phrases that I picked up from watching anime, and I read some basic grammar :/ I'm going to study it more later, anyways.

Spanish- I've been reading Spanish for 3 years now and I don't plan on quitting.

I've always loved learning languages, and as HP!, people say I learn them fast.

List of languages I want to speak fluently or at least understand without having to flip up a dictionary and/or my teacher to understand what people say and this was a ridiculously long headline, right?:
All scandinavian languages.
German
French
Spanish
Japanese
Greek
Russian, for some reason.
Italian

Yeah. >_>

I'm studying Spanish very passionately. I'm entering my fourth year of Spanish this year. While it sounds somewhat impressive, I'm not very good at listening and interpreting. I can write in Spanish better than I can speak. I'm learning though, and once I learn to think in Spanish (Maybe I'll take an immersion course sometime), I'll be good to go.

English (fluently)
French (mid-basic)
Japanese (very, very basic. Half a year's hour-a-week session's worth >.>)

I'd like to get better at Japanese and maybe learn more European languages. I doubt I'll have the time, though.

Let's see..

Spanish is a definate. It's my native tongue. *Puerto Rican*

I used to speak so much more Italian back then.. (I had a half-Italian grandfather who we could speak it with. But since he passed away, I never spoke it anymore for.. 11 years. O_O
I know qiute a bit, but my Italian's pretty bad by now.
and I don't get time to re-learn it. I'm too busy studying Japanese. D=

And English is my third. *nods* I've been told that no one would've guess that English was not my first language. =P

I.. only know a few sentences in Japanese and I can only read a bit. But I am learning.. Still. Only been 3 months so far, though. >.>

What's with everyone saying "Japanese, but I only know like two words"? If you only know an incredibly basic run of it, then it's not worth mentioning and you don't know it.

It's not like you get extra cool points for mentioning a crappy language.

I know about eight words in German, ten or so in Spanish, and I can remember some grammatical attributes of Korean. I think I can speak English. Maybe. Oh boy, that means I can speak four languages.

Okay, I might have misinterpreted a little there. I understand enough Japanese to hear a dialogue and have an idea what they're talking about. I wasn't saying "LIEKOMG, I CAN SAY HAI AND IIE, I'M SO AWESUM".

And I can't exactly say Japanese is a crappy language :/

I admit,I might not be able to talk in a conversation,But I can talk in small talk, like "Hello, how are you, how's the weather," that sort of thing.I only know one full phrase that can be used in a conversation, "Baka baka shi das ne?" (this is ridiculous is'nt it?)

I also want to learn german and russian.

My native language is (Québécois) French and 99% of my IRL conversations are done in that language. I have no problem whatsover understanding French speakers from Europe.

I use English mostly to play videogames and to post on message boards. When I do speak it my accent makes my french origins obvious. I cant pronounce the TH sound to save my life.

I took 2 years of spanish in high school. I can understand a written text fairly well but I cant make one on my own. Funilly, my accent in Spanish is better than it is in English due to the fact than Spanish pronounciation is easy as pie to learn for a French speaker.

Took French for a year in high school.... forgot it all.

Learned a little Korean when I used to take Tae Kwon Do... forgot it all.

Tried to self teach myself japanese since my college didn't offer it and lost interest.

I think I was never meant to learn any other language. :sadshoe:
