Well, of course; Person of the Year is a measure of how much a person has done, not how well-liked said person is.

The cover could be less creepy. Now I have an oddly symmetrical Putin head staring at me for about a week.

WHY IS THE CRAP WRITER THERE!?

Well I for one say it should go to my best mate, for being so strong this year after his mum died of cancer.

But then I don't have enough money to bribe the times... Hmm...

Not to be mean, but your friend's mom dying did not exactly change the entire scope of the world, nor a whole country's political, social, and economic climates.

What, exactly, is sad? Putin winning the cover?

It's not necessarily a flattering award, people.

Actually it's the fact they had like a billion to choose from, and they go off and choose the criticized new President of Russia.

I, GearsoftheApparatus, have fixed your post to reflect what you actually meant to say.

No need to thank me, though I'd appreciate it if you did, it would be the decent thing to do.

How is he new? He's been President for almost eight years now, and he's going to probably switch to Prime Minister after his time as President is up. Russia's fate--stable or anarchical, wealthy or impoverished, significant or expendable, mighty or vulnerable--ultimately rests in Putin's hands.

I reffer to 'current' as 'new' when it comes to elected officials.

Well, he's better Putin...

AND WHAT THE CRAP IS UP WITH THAT HARRY POTTER WRITER ON THAT LIST? All she did was write another series of books, I don't care how good they are. They didn't affect people's thought that much, it just gave a publishing company and film studio ANOTHER big franchise.
