i like to use a needler.
why ? you noticed that after you shoot the needles, after a while they explode ?
so you shoot them, if they're not dead yet before the needles explode, they can be after they explode, even if your not even shooting them anymore

I haven't played Halo in a long time, but my favorites were typically the BR, the sword, and vehicles. Yes, I realize that makes me sound like a total noob, but those are pretty much the only weapons, and the AR and the sniper, that anyone ever bothers using.
