Anyone like the series? Want to talk about the SNES trilogy, the "newish" Returns, the weird bongo games, the arcade classics, or even that loveable racing game on the N64? Do it here! Let's discuss the highs and the lows of the series along with our favorite games and why we like them so much as well as the awesome characters.

Except for characters like Candy and Kiddy. Candy is just a walking nightmare that shouldn't be seen by human eyes and Kiddy is just horrible all around. They are not awesome, but can still be discussed.

I've played the first and second DKC games, but never finished them (something to add to my to-do list). I've also played DK64 which I enjoyed quite a bit.

And then Diddy Kong Racing was awesome. My family and friends would have tournaments playing that game all the time and it was the best.

I remember my favorite round with my friends back in the day in Diddy Kong Racing was Icicle Pyramid, we'd mess around tons in that level back in the hey day. It's a shame the remake was completely horrible compared to the original if only because the touch controls implemented were awful. Rare was really fantastic back in the day that's for sure.

I forgot about the remake. I never bought it, because to me DKR was always best played multiplayer, which was of course easiest on the N64. Granted I still played solo mode.

I don't remember any of the tracks by name, but I do remember battle mode in an icy cave setting in which I could find numerous hiding spaces and take out passers by with a homing missle.

That's the one. I'd usually find myself camping out on the top level waiting for others. I remember one time I was playing with my friend, I was at the bottom level and I got hit with a homing missile right when I activated my shield, tumbling myself over and leaving me on my head and vulnerable.

May I ask how come you never got around to finishing the first two DKC games?

You know that Diddy Kong Racing / Donkey Konga 1 & 2 isn't part of the DKC-series, right? Wouldn't it be better to rename the thread to just "Donkey Kong"?

Anyway, only played DKR for DS, so I'm not really one to talk about DK.
Check out my fangame.

... Yeah, that's it.

I love DKC! I own all of them, including Returns. I liked DKC2 the most probably.

I've only played the GBA versions of Country 1 and 2, a.k.a Diddy Kong Country.
They're pretty good ones though. Good ol' pipe levels that get harder and harder.
God damn, the final levels are actually quite brutal.

Sadly, out of those listed. I only own the Country II...
...Which reminds me, I still haven't beaten K.Rool and freed D.K.
...Seriously; I get to the final point of the fight but he just gets me...Every. Single. TIME!!
And why does...he?...refuse to faint in thefirst place?! That Croco is more P.I.A. then Alba was!

I was playing them on my computer via a SNES emulator about 4 or 5 years back, and upon switching to a new computer, I failed to back up some of my stuff, including my roms and emulators. I had gotten a little more than halfway through both of them when that happened, so when I lost them I had that "grr I don't want to replay all that again" attitude. I had planned to play them again but apparently I never got around to it.

Question about DKC2. Am I the only one who didn't find the Bramble levels that bad? Honestly the levels I didn't care for was the Parachute in the beehive with Squawks idiot cousin and Web Woods because I'm not a fan of controlling Squitter.

I disliked the bramble levels. Those took me so many tries to get past. The Web Woods also took me time to pass but that was because it took me a bit of time to figure out the solution to some of the puzzles.

One stage I'm not sure I like or dislike is Slime Climb. One one hand it was quite a challenge, but just the same, it took me time to beat because the slime would speed up the higher I got.

Oh lord, I was not so big on DKR. I wasted so much of my life playing that game. However, I will forever love DKC1 and DKC2. Maybe DKC3 if I can ever find a copy on anything besides a gameboy. I bought DKCR and found it fun, but was immediately disheartened when I heard there were no plans for a sequel.

The music in DKC1 is still amazing.

Life in the Mines, Aquatic Ambience, and Fear Factory ( It has that Killer Instinct feeling to it!) are my favorties.

I would like to try DKCR someday... :phoenix:

I remember being so excited when the first DKC came out on SNES. The music was amazing. My favorites were the ones from the water levels and the ones from the mine shafts. I don't remember the names of specific themes.

The first one is still my favorite out of the three that came out on SNES (at least with the title DKC). I would always used the BARREL code to up the number of lives I had. Two was alright, but I hated that you had to spend money to save (if I remember correctly, it's been years). Three was just annoying.

I liked Diddy Kong Racing as well, but I didn't play it as much as other racing games like the ones from the Mario Kart franchise.

I've played the first level of Donkey Kong Country Returns, but it was fun as well. I'll probably try to pick up a copy soon.

I believe DKC2 is my favorite platformer of all time - sorry, Mario, but that game is truly remarkable. I have the original trilogy as well as Returns, which I was thoroughly impressed with.
