Anyone else still play Battlefront II? Anyone? I know its like 10 years old now but I still love it and things like mods are great.

Also, DICE making Battlefront III! Discuss!
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

I played the PS2 version and I fucking loved it! I remember how much fun I had, especially on the Rise Of The Empire mode and the special battle of the Heroes in Mos Eisley.

*wipes a tear*

It was so fantastic back then played it to death to the the point where I had a bunch of medals and awesome boosts that allowed me to slaughter like everyone. I loved Space battles, getting a transport ship full of men and running in and wrecking stuff up close an personal.

Where'd you hear of BFIII?

EA's E3 presentation. Had a great quick teaser showing a scene from the battle of Hoth. No other info though.

I've been playing it all night; I found this mod that adds all of the maps from Battlefront 1 as well as some fan maps. It's awesome!

I actually prefer BF1 as well but it's way more difficult to get running on Windows 7 64-bit. But like I said I found a mod that ports all of the BF1 levels to BF2 so you get everything.

Love Battlefront! I used to play Battlefront (1) with an old friend of mine at his place. Played B2 on the PSP and that was pretty good too. I forgot all about the series until someone on my Twitter feed mentioned Battlefront 3's development. I'm really psyched about this series reboot.

It's really great for some quick Star Wars action, without needing to get too involved in a more complicated game like the Star Wars Dark Forces games (which are great by the way. And they're discounted on Steam right now).

Just taken at face value the game is great but you tend to get bored by the maps eventually, especially since there's only like 3 Space maps.

But modding the game increases the value a million times. There are some really amazing maps out there. Someone even took Besaid Island from Final Fantasy X and rebuilt it for Battlefront.

Anyone who likes Battlefront should check out the Battlefront 2 Conversion pack. It ports all the maps from Battlefront I into Battlefront II, which is awesome enough, but it also ports the Battlefront I-era conquest mode to the game as well as well as adding a new era (Knights of the Old Republic) and new gameplay modes like XL where thousands of units play on the map. It's amazing.

Wow. If I already think the original is good, I wonder what I'd think of the modded version. Too bad I played it for the PS2 and not PC.

Ahhhh getting fond memories about this one battle in Yavin 4. I was the only empire soldier alive (Stormtrooper. I've never been one for picking classes) against like 68 rebels, and the difficulty was set to "Elite", so I had to pull off a few miracles. Obviously I'd not be able to conquer all command posts by myself, so I decided to win by slaughter. And I did it. All with the good old Award Rifle.

Yeah I've increased my map count from the original 25 maps available to 57 maps, and all of them are good or great quality; I already deleted the bad ones. And the modes like Xl really make you feel like you're in the movies because of the number of people on the field.

I actually had a similarly-odds-against-me game the other night. I was on Kashyyk and I was part of the Rebel Alliance. My team had pretty much been wiped out. It was only me and this Wookie, but the count for the other team was in the 50's. So I spawned in as a sniper and began the process of both defending our spot with the crappy little secondary blaster people get and wiping out all of the incoming enemies with the sniper rifle. It took forever and half way through my Wookie friend died, but like w hours later I won. I felt pretty good.

Been there pal...On same map actually.
I was also the final one left as a basic trooper (luckily since I'm best with that class)
and enemy had like 10 troops left against me.
It was also one elite and I'll be honest, this was one of those time I was actually scared with video game.
....all alone...on a foggy map...enemy could shoot at you from anywhere in that jungle...Sharpshooter, bazooka blast...Quite the thrill.
And it didn't help that the music right then wasn't...let's say, the most peacefull tunes from SW.
Granted I was lot younger when this happened but I honestly were scared ***tless... XD

I did manage to win by capturing the farthest enemy command post and just...yeah...camping there.
I mean yeah; the supply froid was there and also the healer droid so...All I needed was to stay alive pretty much while they kept searching for me.
I had a close call twice but like I said - managed to survive as a lone survivor from that battle.
...Sure, this won't probably mean a lot to anyone but people that had this kinda fight but maaaaaan...
...Completely felt like a booooows after that.

It tests your abilities, you know? The thrill of being the only one alive and yet you're hacking everybody down... I've never been one for strategy on those games, I just go barging in and shooting everyone and seeing how far I can go without dying; by doing that, I've gotten pretty good both on aiming and dodging. After the area's clear, then I think strategy.

I think I'm gonna look up some videos or something, you've got me curious about the maps.

Oh my. That secondary sniper rifle is so... ugh. I remember dealing with it to get the Marksman medals and dying a lot because I couldn't kill the enemy in a single shot and they'd come after me.

I just did a quick youtube search. Here's a mod map playing on Uber mode, a mode in which each side has 1000 units. It can get pretty hectic.

Here's a map based on the game Star Wars: Republic Commando:

Here's even a weird one for Zelda fans out there:

There's just tons of neat stuff. And for anyone interested in getting Battlefront II for the PC it's 7 bucks right now on Steam because of their Summer Steam Sale.

I LOVE the Zelda one! Awesome!

I'll find some way to pay up, 7 bucks for this gem sounds like a pretty neat bargain.

It totally is. You can spend years playing it. It looks pretty awesome on newer systems too.
